Witch Special

Chapter 14: The company’s internal college and supporting kindergarten.

Because it had been so long, Lin Zhenxi couldn't remember the interior layout of the resettlement center. But in her memory, it was mainly white and looked like a research center.

But at this time, when Lin Zhenxi came to the resettlement center through the teleportation wall, what she saw was an academy with a very astonishing area.

That’s right, it’s the academy. The neatly arranged teaching buildings and the school uniforms worn by the foreigners walking between the buildings all reveal the nature of this “academy”.

This is a bit too ridiculous. Although the company's building is indeed not small, it doesn't seem to be large enough to accommodate such a large college. And what's going on with the sky above? Is it a holographic projection?

Isn't this supposed to be a place for those from other regions who can't adapt to the outside world? How did it become a school? Who on earth came up with such a brilliant idea?

The problem of space is actually not difficult to understand, because among the wand magic mastered by Lin Zhenxi, there is a magic called "Space Extension Spell", which is so effective that an entire college can be crammed into a company building.

Because Lin Zhenxi had really seen a villa in a suitcase being carried around by its owner in that wizard's other world. Compared with that outrageous old suitcase, it didn't seem completely unacceptable to stuff the academy in front of him into the company building.

Even more surprising to Lin Zhenxi than the issue of space compression was the fact that the company had transformed the resettlement center into an academy. But then again, it seemed like there was no easier place to learn than academy. While it might be easy to force-feed knowledge into the minds of those from otherworldly realms through brain-computer interfaces, forcing them to survive in the human world was a simple matter, it also carried significant risks. The best approach, of course, was to allow them to learn independently. Only by mobilizing their own initiative would they be more motivated to learn, and only through hard work and effort would knowledge truly belong to them.

What better place to inspire students' passion for learning than an academy? Moreover, in an academy where students are free from worries and don't have to worry about survival, the atmosphere is filled with youth and freedom. Even without supervision, a culture of mutual comparison will naturally arise. Without supervision at all, perhaps the aliens will be more proactive in learning, striving to surpass others. This competitive spirit is probably present in every intelligent being.

Of course, there are certainly some who are lazy, but they are ultimately a minority. I believe that most people in this world still want to take control of their lives. Graduating from college quickly is the only way to live a life free from the constraints of others' daily plans. This alone is enough motivation for them to study.

In the short time Lin Zhenxi had been standing at the academy's gate, groups of nearly twenty aliens, all dressed in school uniforms, had already passed her. Because aliens aren't necessarily humanoid, and even those who are humanoid often possess traits of other races, it's a truly chaotic scene, with all manner of strange and bizarre forms. However, what seems "abnormal" to the outside world has become normal here. All the aliens living here have grown accustomed to everything, chatting and laughing with each other in a harmonious atmosphere. Unsurprisingly, Lin Zhenxi, standing at the gate, seemingly doing nothing, became the topic of their discussion. After all, in this academy specifically designed for aliens, students like Lin Zhenxi, who possess no recognizable alien features and appear to be purely human, are extremely rare.

No foreigner would think that Lin Zhenxi was a formal employee of the company; in their minds, this option was not an option. In their view, anyone who showed up at the school gate without a school uniform must be a "new student" who had come to register.

If it weren't for Lin Zhenxi's pure human appearance, someone would have come to chat her up by now.

Lin Zhenxi stood there and waited for a while, then saw a beautiful cat girl wearing a white coat and white silk stockings on her legs walking towards her.

This is a half-orc. Although she has erect cat ears on her head and a white cat tail dangling behind her butt, her face is not covered with hair. Instead, she has a cute little round face that is very consistent with human aesthetics.

"Excuse me, are you Special Agent Lin Zhenxi, meow~?" The cat girl approached and asked with a mysterious ending tone.

On Lin Zhenxi's shoulder, the black cat instantly raised its tail.

Lin Zhenxi nodded, took out his personal terminal, and showed the cat girl in front of him the notice sent to him by the company.

"It's me, you?"

"My name is Yan Qing, meow."

"Yan Qing meow?"

"Yan Qing, meow." Cat girl Yan Qing extended the pause in the middle a little, but still couldn't help but add a meow at the end.

"Okay, Yan Qing. Are you my successor? Let me see your notice." Lin Zhenxi did not put away his personal terminal, but remained on the notice interface.

This is the company's process. Just like ancient generals needed to join two halves of a tiger's horn to deploy troops, for a company's announcements to proceed, they also need to align the announcements from both parties. While cumbersome, this effectively prevents both parties from contacting the wrong person. After all, there are many employees in the company, and most likely they don't know each other. Without a specific screening method, assigning the wrong person to the wrong task would be disastrous.

That kind of thing really happened before. Because of the lessons learned, the company's work processes have gradually been standardized, and now no matter what we do, we have to check the work notice in advance.

Compared to Lin Zhenxi, the cat girl in front of her was clearly a complete amateur. If Lin Zhenxi hadn't reminded her, she would have forgotten that she should also show her notice. After being asked by Lin Zhenxi, she let out a cute "Ah!" and pulled out a handheld game console with a cat paw cover from the pocket of her white coat and pulled up her notice.

The company's personal terminals come in a variety of styles. Lin Zhenxi opted for a tablet for convenience and practicality, but some also opt for handheld game consoles or even watches. The cat girl in front of me probably uses her personal terminal as a game console.

After the two sides' notices were mutually verified, Lin Zhenxi saw a checkmark in a green circle in the upper right corner of the notice on her personal terminal. She put away her personal terminal and asked Cat Girl, "The notice isn't very clear. It just asked me to come to the resettlement center. Can you tell me exactly what they want me to do?"

"Well, please follow me first, meow." The cat girl put the handheld game console back into her pocket, turned around and led the way, wagging her tail.

Following the cat girl, watching her tail swaying restlessly from side to side, Lin Zhenxi exerted a great deal of willpower to suppress the urge to grab her. Based on Yanyan's usual reactions, cats' tails are very sensitive. Even a pat on the head wouldn't react as much as having their tails grabbed. Furthermore, cats whose tails are grabbed will subconsciously attack. Lin Zhenxi had almost been scratched by Yanyan before. Even Yanyan, who she was so familiar with, was like this, let alone a cat girl she had just met for the first time.

Lin Zhenxi didn't want to be kicked or slapped by the cat girl she met for the first time.

As we walked along with the cat girl, the area seemed to become increasingly secluded. Although the overall style of the building hadn't changed, there were no more foreign students passing by.

"Where are we going?" Lin Zhenxi asked, looking at the empty road.

"Relocation center, meow."

“Wait a minute, isn’t this a resettlement center??”

"This is the academy, where students study, meow. The placement center is where new students get familiar with the academy's rules and regulations. Only after graduating from the placement center can they become students of the academy, meow."

Oh, so the resettlement center is actually a kindergarten, where you have to learn how to speak and some common sense about this world, and then be released when you are able to accept reality and "go on" to colleges outside.

Walking through the tree-lined avenue between two quiet teaching buildings, Lin Zhenxi finally saw something different from the surrounding college buildings.

It was a white hemispherical building, like a giant eggshell, lying on the ground. Except for the entrance and exit, which were made into flat surfaces, the rest of the dome was part of the sphere.

"Come in, meow." Yan Qing swiped her palm prints at the door of the dome, and the metal door that was tightly closed like a whole opened from the middle to both sides, opening the way to the interior of the resettlement center.

Lin Zhenxi opened her mouth, wanting to ask again what the company's purpose was in sending her here. But when the door to the resettlement center opened, she closed her mouth, slightly widening her eyes, and stared at the scene in surprise.

In the hall at the entrance to the resettlement center, a large number of cat beastmen, about thirty in number, gathered in groups of two or three, all staring intently at the two people who appeared behind the open door with their cat-like pupils, which were as erect as date pits.

Oh, it's a person, and a half-orc cat girl.

"Why are there so many?" Lin Zhenxi, the company's elite special envoy, has realized the seriousness of the problem behind this matter.

Despite the numerous aliens in New Blue City, and despite the fact that aliens have become a common sight in human society, and humans have come to accept their existence and peacefully coexist with these friends from other worlds, from a probabilistic perspective, time travel is an extremely rare event. The reason there are so many aliens is simply because the number of alien worlds is so vast. Even if only one or two aliens from a particular world travel through time, the cumulative total is still a significant number.

The large number of aliens from the same other world appearing in such a short period of time was definitely a serious matter. In a negative light, it could even be a sign of a direct connection between Earth and the other world.

Humanity has accepted aliens, but only these alien visitors. Earth civilization is not yet prepared to directly contact another completely unknown world.

I hope it's not the worst case scenario...
