Witch Special

Chapter 12 The Sleepy Cat

The next day, she woke up and stumbled into the bathroom with her hair in a mess. After some magical... well, it was actually magic... operation, she fixed her hair, changed into her sportswear, and went out for a morning run with her black cat.

It was still a repetition of yesterday. After my morning run, I bought some cute-looking snacks for breakfast at Big White Bear's bakery. I also bought a bottle of sweet milk for the black cat as a reward for it having tidied the room tidy last night.

Then, Lin Zhenxi returned home, washed off the sweat from running, changed into work clothes, drove the black cat back to the Witch Book, put on her magic wand bracelet and magic book pendant, and prepared to go out to work.

Although she was a little tipsy yesterday, Lin Zhenxi hadn't forgotten her agreement with the seemingly courageous cat beastman. She had left home a few minutes earlier today, intending to wrap up the matter without being late for work.

When crossing the city green park, Lin Zhenxi deliberately took a detour and went directly into the forest path where there was very little traffic on weekdays, and came to the place where he was attacked by the cat orc last night.

The fragments of several magnetic levitation ball lamps destroyed by the cat beastmen yesterday remained uncollected. Xinlan City's municipal services were actually quite effective, especially on the streets. Roughly every one or two hundred meters, you'd see an adorable, autonomous cleaning robot shaped like a terracotta figurine. As a result, not only was there no littering on the streets, but even dust was rare. However, there were still some areas where municipal services were lacking, such as this rarely visited forest path. Even if public facilities were damaged, no one would repair or replace them until someone reported it.

Even if the government already knows that these facilities are broken through the Internet of Things.

Now that day had broken, Lin Zhenxi finally saw what the cat-beast had used to smash the surrounding lanterns. It was actually just some relatively regular-shaped stones, oblate, but with some irregular protrusions and corners.

Being able to throw these stones so accurately and even hit several different targets at the same time, it seems that this cat orc has something special about him.

Lin Zhenxi arrived at the agreed place, but did not see the cat orc, which made her raise her eyebrows and her mood subtly became worse.

Is this... running away?

Don't waste my time.

While New Blue City is large, it's actually rife with surveillance cameras, making it easy to track down someone. And judging by Kanari's horrified expression when she saw the hovercars chugging along the road yesterday, it's clear these cat-beastmen don't have such things in their original world. Therefore, the lanes surrounding Green Park act like a massive barrier, trapping the cat-beastmen within the area.

As long as it doesn't just walk away, Lin Zhenxi will find a way to find it, even if it digs a hole to hide itself.

While the magic Lin Zhenxi mastered wasn't particularly impressive in terms of sheer lethality, and was perhaps even inferior to the standard weapons currently deployed by New Blue City's security forces, when it came to auxiliary tasks like finding people, Lin Zhenxi's systematic magic was incredibly convenient.

Regardless, that cat beastman had stood Lin Zhenxi up and wasted her affection. For both public and private reasons, Lin Zhenxi couldn't just let that cat beastman run wild in this green park.

and so……

"Trace, point the way for me."

Lin Zhenxi summoned his wand and lowered the tip, pointing it at the ground. A silver thread, as thin as a hair, continuously flowed out of the wand and fell to the ground, forming a small pile.

Immediately afterwards, these tiny silver threads seemed to be activated and began to extend rapidly along the ground into the distance, directly into the dense jungle.

This was a type of object-finding magic. Anything within a certain range that had been marked by Lin Zhenxi's magic could be located using this magic. Lin Zhenxi was certain the cat-beast couldn't possibly escape the park, so using this type of area-based, pinpoint-locating magic was just the right move.

Facts proved that Lin Zhenxi's choice was correct, as the magic took effect, directly pointing Lin Zhenxi in the direction of the cat beastman. Although the exact distance could not be determined, the effective range of the magic was only a few hundred meters. As long as he searched in that direction, he was sure that he would find it quickly.

However, the jungle blocked Lin Zhenxi's path. The vegetation in the park was too dense, and Lin Zhenxi didn't want her clothes to be damaged by the branches. However, because she didn't know the distance, Lin Zhenxi couldn't just use the Splitting Spell to blast the jungle apart like she had yesterday. Yesterday, the distance was short, so she only needed to blast a small section. If she blasted too much, not only would she waste magic power, but she would also be charged with destroying the forest, which would be a waste of effort.

Since it is not convenient for Lin Zhenxi to go over, then let the cat beastman come over by himself.

"The All-Seeing Eye."

Lin Zhenxi waved his wand, unleashing a small ball of magic light with an eye symbol illuminating in the center. This magical eye, a form of energy rather than substance, provided Lin Zhenxi with a third field of vision, typically used to see into corners and other inaccessible areas. It was perfectly suited to locating the cat-beast.

Without a physical form, there were naturally no concerns about collision volume. The magic eye pierced through the obstructing branches and flew in the direction of the trail. Lin Zhenxi stood there, eyes closed, directing the magic. With the extra vision provided by the magic eye, it didn't take long for him to locate the cat-beast sleeping soundly on the branch of a large tree.

It is about fifty meters away from Lin Zhenxi in a straight line.

Well, it looked like it hadn't escaped, it just hadn't gotten up yet. Cats are prone to sleepiness, and catbeasts have similar habits to cats, so there didn't seem to be anything wrong with them sleeping a little longer.

Now that they had found the target and determined its precise three-dimensional coordinates, the next step was easy. Just like putting an elephant in a refrigerator only required three steps, getting something from a distance to Lin Zhenxi also required only three steps.

Determine the target's spatial coordinates, cast magic to pull the target, and when the target is reached, the casting ends.

It was just a Flying Spell, a must-learn magic for lazy people, but it was Lin Zhenxi's foremost skill. Not to mention a small cat-beast, even a multi-ton rock could be moved with the Flying Spell if Lin Zhenxi wanted to.

"Hmm... cat... no, not a cat. Then..." The most important thing about the Flying Spell is the target's characteristics. It must be a sufficiently specific, single target, and the caster must have a clear understanding of the target in mind when chanting the spell. However, the cat-beast's characteristics were not specific enough. Therefore, Lin Zhenxi needed to find a more unique feature of the cat-beast and target it with the Flying Spell.

Fortunately, the All-Seeing Eye was still floating above the cat beastman's head, allowing Lin Zhenxi to carefully observe whether there was anything on the cat beastman that could make it a target. Soon, Lin Zhenxi noticed that the cat beastman's tail was very special. It was covered with circles of stripes, which looked like tiger stripes.

This is it.

"The cat beastman with tiger stripes on his tail, fly over here."

With precise targeting, Lin Zhenxi's flying spell was successfully activated. The cat beastman, still sleeping soundly on the tree branch, was lifted up by an invisible magic hand, directly knocked open the tree canopy in front of it, and flew straight towards Lin Zhenxi.

The cat-beast woke up the moment it took flight. Sleeping in the wild naturally meant it couldn't possibly experience deep sleep, so it maintained a basic level of vigilance. However, its caution was completely useless, as what was happening to it was beyond its comprehension. Even its screams were cut short by the branches sweeping towards it. It could only do its best to shield its face with its claws, curling up as tightly as possible, letting the branches scrape against it, leaving countless scratches.

Then, it was violently yanked from the treetops, hovering in front of Lin Zhenxi. While the Flying Spell was relatively... well, direct when grabbing... it was ultimately invented to grab things, not to smash them. Therefore, objects pulled by the Flying Spell would hover in front of the caster or land directly in their hands, just like the cat-beast was doing now.

The cat beastman is in a terrible state now. Not only are leaves hanging all over his body, but he also has a lot of scratches that have begun to bleed. The whole person, or rather the whole cat, has entered a trance state, giving people the feeling that he is about to return to the cat planet.

Wow, this can't be right. Lin Zhenxi looked at the miserable cat beastman. Even though she was the culprit, she was still dumbfounded. If she took the cat beastman out like this, no matter who it was, they would think she was the one who tortured it into this state.

The human rights of aliens, at least in New Blue City, must be guaranteed, as this is the foundation of New Blue City. Even if Lin Zhenxi is an employee of the company and has a valid reason, she will definitely not end up well if she is accused of abusing aliens.

Before bringing this cat beastman to the company, you should at least make sure it is fit to be shown outside.

"Healing is not my forte...it's a headache." Lin Zhenxi put the frightened cat beastman on the ground and began to think about how to deal with the mistake he had made.
