Chapter 400 News about the Holy Relic
The sunlight from Taoyuan Star streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a shadow on Rosie's face. For the past two weeks, she had chosen to recuperate in this peaceful place, while Enzo continued his seemingly endless search—the two remaining relics, like stars vanishing into the corners of the universe, unwilling to reveal even a trace.
In the restaurant, Luo Xi sat at one end of a long table, before her was a nutritious meal Ling Yuan had specially prepared for her. The silverware reflected the soft light, and everything looked so beautiful.
Until the aroma of the stew wafted into her nostrils.
"Ugh!" Rosie's face suddenly changed, and a strong feeling of nausea rushed from her stomach to her throat. She stood up suddenly, the chair scraping against the floor with a sharp sound, and she subconsciously covered her mouth with her palm, her knuckles turning white from the force.
Ling Yuan was the first to notice something was wrong, a flash of worry in his red eyes. He quickly put down the teacup in his hand, and his slender figure was next to Luo Qian in an instant: "What's wrong?"
Rosie shook her head, not daring to speak, fearing that speaking would cause the nausea to fully erupt. She raised her head and took a deep breath, trying to calm the surging discomfort.
Kyle put down his knife and fork, his amber eyes narrowed slightly: "Sissi..."
"It's okay." Luo Xi finally managed to speak, but her voice was a few degrees higher than usual. "Maybe it's just—"
Before she finished speaking, her eyes met Ling Yuan's. A flash of lightning flashed through their minds at the same time.
Rosie touched her abdomen. What should have been easy to confirm was now impossible to verify. Ever since the system left, parting with its convenient features had often been inconvenient for her. The system that could have given her definitive answers was now battling malicious code in ancient time and space, and no one knew when it would return.
"Is it..." Ling Yuan hesitated to speak, with a hint of expectation flashing in his red eyes.
"Maybe." Rosie smiled, but there was uncertainty in her eyes. She had experienced this feeling three times before, and the experience of three births made her very familiar with this sign. That sudden sensitivity and aversion to certain smells was almost a sign that she was pregnant.
Fan Xiao put down the cutlery in his hand, a sharp light flashing in his ice-blue eyes: "Really?"
Ling Yuan had already stood up, and his slender fingers touched Luo Xi's forehead, and his mental power carefully probed: "Let me see..."
Luo Qian stood still, letting Ling Yuan's spiritual power flow gently through her body. The warm energy passed through her like a spring breeze, bringing a sense of security. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and felt the subtle changes in her body.
The others at the table waited quietly, even breathing softly. Caesar raised his little head, his amber eyes full of curiosity. His little hands tightly grasped the corner of Kyle's clothes, as if he could sense the solemn atmosphere.
"There is indeed a reaction of life." Ling Yuan withdrew his mental power, a gentle smile in his red eyes, "Although it is weak, it does exist."
"A new little one?" Fan Xiao whispered, his voice a little deeper than usual. A complex emotion flashed across his icy blue eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.
Rosie's fingertips gently stroked her belly, where, before any bulge had even appeared, a new life was already brewing. A soft light flashed in her eyes, and the corners of her mouth curled up slightly. Every time, the news of a new life touched her most tender heartstrings, like a starlight suddenly lit up in the darkness, giving her the strength to move forward.
"It's just..." Rosie lowered her eyes, her voice so low that it was almost inaudible.
"Just what?" Ling Yuan keenly caught her hesitation, with a questioning look in his red eyes.
Rosie raised her head and scanned the room, her gaze resting on the two flaxen-haired figures. She bit her lower lip, unsure how to speak.
"You're not sure who it belongs to, are you?" Kyle directly revealed her thoughts. There was no trace of blame in his amber eyes, only his usual calmness.
Rosie nodded, her fingertips twisting unconsciously together. She glanced at Ivan and Damon, who were staring at her intently, their eyes full of anticipation and nervousness.
"The system isn't here, so I can't confirm it directly," she whispered, feeling a wave of embarrassment. Ever since the system went to combat the malicious code, there had been no news, and it had been the most direct way to confirm such issues.
"The medical bay," Fan Xiao suggested briefly, his icy blue eyes scanning the twins. "We can test the cubs' bloodline."
Rosie nodded and followed Ling Yuan towards the medical area. The others paused in tacit agreement, with only Ivan and Damon following closely behind, their expressions more serious than ever.
The medical hatch slowly closed, and a blue light scanned Rosie's entire body. The data quickly combined in mid-air, forming a three-dimensional projection.
"Nine-Colored Deer cub." Ling Yuan read out the result, his red eyes turning to the twins, "It's confirmed to be one of you."
Ivan and Damon took a step forward at the same time. Their almost identical faces were filled with a complex mix of emotions—anticipation, nervousness, joy, and a hint of deep-seated unease.
"Can you confirm which one it belongs to?" Rosie asked, looking back and forth between the two of them.
The medical bay chimed in with a negative notification. "Bloodline similarity is too high to distinguish the paternity," the mechanical voice announced coldly. "It is recommended that accurate identification be performed after the cub is born."
Luo Xi's expression froze. She covered her face and groaned, "This is so embarrassing..."
"Sister." Ivan spoke first, his voice gentle but firm. He knelt on one knee and took Rosie's hand. "No matter whose daughter it is, I will treat her as my own."
"Me too," Damon interjected, pushing closer to Ivan, a feral glint in his eyes. "Don't worry about it, sister."
Ling Yuan raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement flashing in his red eyes: "So you two can be so united sometimes."
The twins glared at him at the same time, but quickly looked away. They knew that the most important thing now was to appease Rosie, not to get jealous.
"Sissi." Kyle walked into the medical room, his voice undeniable. "This problem can be solved after the baby is born. Right now, we have more urgent matters."
Rosie took a deep breath and nodded. She knew Kyle was right. Personal feelings had to be put aside. In times of crisis, survival was paramount.
"There's news from Enzo," Kyle continued, his amber eyes flashing with seriousness. "He's sensed the location of the third holy relic."
This news instantly attracted everyone's attention. Rosie straightened her back, and the expression in her eyes quickly changed from embarrassment to concentration.
"Where?" she asked, her voice regaining its usual firmness.
"Near the entrance to the alien region."
The name caused a brief silence in the room. Rosie frowned slightly, remembering Norcia mentioning this place—a world fraught with danger, a one-way passage, a hopeless place from which it was almost impossible to return.
Ivan and Damon exchanged a look and simultaneously took a step closer to Rosie, their protectiveness evident.
"Sister, you can't go." Ivan said flatly, his gentle expression becoming firm. "It's too dangerous."
"Especially now," Damon added, his eyes falling on Rosie's belly, "With the cubs, we can't take any risks."
Luo Xi didn't agree, but she didn't refuse either. She just said, "Let's see what Norcia says before making a decision..."
