Chapter 389 Confused memory
Luo Xi took two steps at a time and came to Yu's side, her fingers trembling as she reached for the hideous scar on her chest. Every step was filled with anxiety, and every inch of distance was torture.
"Don't touch him!" Kyle's voice split the air, cold and low, leaving no room for doubt. "There's something wrong with that wound."
Rosie's hand froze in mid-air, as if held in place by an invisible force. She turned to look at Kyle, a mixture of suspicion and caution in her eyes. "Who are you? Why do you know about Yu's injury?" Her voice trembled, but she didn't flinch.
Falcon leaned close to Rosie, their skin touching, their body temperatures melting. He straightened his back, a flash of blood in his eyes: "Xixi, don't go near them." His voice was alert and protective.
Lu Ye narrowed his eyes and leaned closer to Luo Xi. "Xixi, I'm Lu Ye, your... friend." The last word was squeezed out between his teeth, tinged with bitterness. An invisible tension flowed in the air.
Luo Xi shook her head and took a step back: "No, I don't know you." Her back rested against Falcon's solid chest, and his hand naturally fell on her shoulder, gently holding it, the action was natural and intimate.
This scene pierced Kyle's eyes, and his amber eyes darkened. He closed his eyes and opened them again, and the emotions in his eyes flashed.
Sissi's condition was clearly not right, and he needed to calm down. Losing his composure would only do more harm than good.
"Mike, you are a psychiatrist, can you tell what her condition is?" Kyle turned to the blond-haired, blue-eyed man and lowered his voice.
Mike shook his head, his eyes calm: "Her current problem is not this, I think it is still related to the abyss curse, or..." He looked at Yu and completed with mental transmission: It is related to his special ability.
Kyle nodded, his brow furrowed slightly, his thoughts racing.
"Xixi, you really don't remember us?" He tried again, his voice a little softer.
Rosie looked directly into Kyle's eyes, but she couldn't find a trace of familiarity. She shook her head, looking past him to Yu, her eyes gleaming with concern. "How did you get hurt like this?"
His silver hair was soaked with sweat and stuck to his pale forehead. He forced a weak smile: "I'm fine, don't worry." But his Adam's apple rolled, revealing his pain.
Falcon clenched his fists, a red light flashing in his eyes and then disappearing. He looked at the way Luo Xi looked at Yu, and his chest ached.
"Xixi, why do you only remember him?" Lu Ye couldn't help but ask, his voice filled with undisguised pain.
Rosie frowned in confusion: "What do you mean?" She looked around at the strangers and unconsciously moved closer to the falcon, seeking a sense of security.
Mike stepped forward, professional and calm: "Xixi, close your eyes and let me check."
Luo Xi stepped back cautiously: "Don't come near me!"
Kyle held out his hand to signal Mike to stop: "Don't scare her." He turned to Rosie and spoke more slowly: "Sissi, what is your earliest memory?"
Rosie thought for a moment: "I remember... Yu, we lived in the cave." As she spoke, her cheeks flushed slightly and her eyes wandered.
Kyle and Mike exchanged a look, a silent communication.
"Time is messed up." Enzo suddenly spoke, his black hair swaying slightly with the movement: "Her memory is out of sync with our timeline. It's messed up."
Yu looked up at Enzo, and a strange look flashed in Ruifeng's eyes: "What did you say?" His voice was hoarse and trembling slightly.
Enzo looked directly at Yu. "Your ability, reversing time, will affect the memories of those around you. Especially those with whom you have an...emotional connection."
Kyle's eyes were sharp: "You mean, Sissi's memory was affected by him?" There was suppressed anger in his tone.
"It's not just the memories," Enzo added. "The timeline itself has been disrupted. What she's experiencing now could be events from another worldline."
Rosie looked at the stranger she was talking to in confusion and instinctively leaned towards Falcon, whose arm wrapped around her shoulders, giving her a sense of security.
"We have to take her back." Kyle decided, his amber eyes reflecting determination.
Falcon stood in front of Rosie and said, "She's not going anywhere." His voice was cold and hard, and his eyes flashed red.
Yu suddenly started coughing violently, his face pale beneath his silver hair. The black scar on his chest spread out like ink in water.
"Yu!" Rosie broke free from Falcon and rushed towards Yu, desperately holding his shaking body with both hands.
Luo Xi stared at the hideous scar on Yu's chest, the black lines spreading like snakes. She stretched out her hand, her fingertips suspended in the air, but Yu gently pressed them down.
"Don't touch it." Yu's voice was hoarse, and his brows were furrowed. "This wound cannot be touched."
Luo Xi shook her head and looked directly into Yu's phoenix eyes stubbornly: "I have to see it."
Kyle warned coldly, "Sissi, that's not an ordinary wound."
Luo Xi turned a deaf ear to him, gently breaking free from the rain with her fingers, and said stubbornly, "Let me see."
Yu took a deep breath and finally compromised. A wry smile appeared on the pale face beneath the silver hair: "Okay. But you can only look, not touch."
Kyle took a step forward, a cold glint in his amber eyes. Lu Ye and Mike exchanged glances, their bodies tensing. Falcon stood aside, clenching and unclenching his fists, a flash of red in his eyes.
Ignoring the tense atmosphere around them, Rosie focused on examining Yu's wound. It wasn't an ordinary scar; something seemed to be wriggling beneath the black lines, spreading toward his heart.
"What caused this?" Rosie's voice tightened.
Yu didn't answer, but just shook her head slightly, her eyes flashing under her silver hair.
Rosie turned to look at Falcon, her eyes full of silent questions.
Among these people, apart from Yu, Falcon is undoubtedly the one she trusts the most.
Falcon sighed and took two steps closer.
"That's a curse from heaven," he whispered, his voice steady. "It's a punishment for those who break the rules."
"What do you mean?" Rosie asked.
"His time ability." Falcon looked directly at Yu, a complex light flashing in his eyes. "The ability to reverse time is something that is not allowed by the rules."
Luo Xi's heart was shaken, and her eyes moved between Yu and Falcon: "Is there any way to relieve it?"
Falcon was about to speak when Yu suddenly coughed, interrupting him. Blood flowed from the corner of Yu's lips, staining his pale chin red.
"Stop talking, Falcon." Yu's voice was low and firm, his brows furrowed beneath his silver hair, and a warning flashed in his Ruifeng eyes. "You've said enough."
The air froze. Luo Xi's gaze flickered between the two of them, her heartbeat accelerating uncontrollably. The black scar on Yu's chest rose and fell with each breath, creeping towards her heart.
Curse. Heaven's curse. These words echoed in her mind.
Kyle stood aside, his amber eyes sharp as knives, watching the interaction between Luo Xi and Yu intently, his knuckles clenched until they turned white. Lu Ye's peach blossom eyes narrowed slightly, his expression gloomy, while Mike observed everything calmly.
Luo Xi bit her lower lip. If Yu didn't tell her, no one else would tell her the truth.
"Sissi, we have to leave here." Kyle took a step forward, his voice unquestionable.
Luo Xi shook her head firmly, her whole body emitting a signal of rejection. She subconsciously pursed her lips, her eyes flashing with vigilance and stubbornness.
"I don't know you, and..." Her gaze passed over them and fell on the scarred silver-haired man, a trace of heartache and worry flashing in her eyes, "I want to make sure Yu is safe."
"It's not safe here," Mike added calmly, a professional assessment and a hint of worry flashing in his blue eyes beneath his blond hair.
Rosie took a step back cautiously, leaning towards Falcon's solid body, as if it was the only existence that could give her a sense of security. Falcon's muscles were slightly tense, and he stood beside her protectively.
Kyle frowned, looked directly at Yu with his amber eyes, and said in a low and firm voice: "You know what is best for her." The implication was self-evident.
Yu didn't respond to Kyle's questioning, only coughing harder. Blood oozed from the corners of his pale lips, dripping onto the ground, a dazzling dark red. The black lines on his chest expanded slightly with each cough, wriggling like a living thing.
Luo Xi's heart tightened. Everyone was so engrossed in their conversation that no one noticed her fingers trembling slightly as they inched closer to the scar on Yu's chest.
Since you won’t tell me, I’ll find the answer myself.
"Sissi!" Kyle suddenly shouted, but it was too late.
Rosie's fingertips touched the black lines, and a stinging pain like an electric current instantly shot through her fingertips. She screamed, but did not pull her hand away. Time seemed to stand still at this moment.
The black lines suddenly came alive, wrapping around Rosie's fingertips like snakes and crawling up her arms. Her pupils suddenly dilated, and her body stiffened. Strange memories flooded into her mind like a flood...
