Outside, heavy snow fell, and Rosie huddled in the cave. The wind and snow raged, whistling through the rock walls and sending cold air seeping in from every crack.

Falcon waved his hands, and a wall of fire suddenly rose. Orange-red flames licked the stone wall, and the heat rushed to his face. He also laid a kang on the ground, and the heat seeped through his feet.

"If it weren't for you, I would have frozen to death." Rosie rubbed her hands and moved closer to the fire wall. The warmth enveloped her, but Falcon's expression made her stop.

He stood at the cave entrance, his back elongated by the firelight, his shoulders tense like a vigilant cheetah.

"What's wrong?" Rosie walked up to him and followed his gaze towards the blizzard outside.

Falcon didn't answer. His brows were furrowed, his amber eyes scanning the distance, his fingers unconsciously clenching and unclenching.

"Nothing." He finally spoke, his voice low.

"You're lying." Rosie looked him straight in the eyes. "We only have each other now. Why are you hiding something from me?"

Falcon sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly. "The cold season has arrived earlier and more severely than I expected. Our food may not last until spring."

Rosie's heart tightened. She knew Falcon wouldn't exaggerate the danger.

"There's something else, right?" she demanded.

Falcon hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded. "There are stray beasts in this area. The cold season makes them hungrier and more dangerous."

Rosie bit her lower lip. She had encountered stray beasts—those cold-blooded orcs abandoned by the tribe—more than once since she arrived here.

"We should go somewhere else," Rosie suggested.

"No." Falcon flatly refused, "It's too snowy outside. You'll freeze to death."

Rosie opened her mouth, then closed it again. Falcon was right; her body couldn't handle the extreme cold.

"Then we can only bear it?"

Falcon nodded, his eyes firm: "I will protect you."

These four short words warmed Luo Xi's heart. She couldn't help but reach out and touch Falcon's arm, feeling the warmth.

"Yeah." Rosie said softly.

Falcon was slightly stunned, his Adam's apple rolling, and he quickly turned around: "Go and rest. I'll keep watch."

Luo Xi returned to the kang and lay down. The warmth from her back was so comfortable that she felt drowsy. In her hazy state, she saw Falcon's back, still standing straight at the entrance of the cave, like an indestructible wall.

Rosie suddenly woke up from her dream, and the low, tense voice of Falcon was in her ears.

"Wake up. They're coming."

His breath brushed against her ear, warm yet tense. Rosie's eyes flickered open, her heart racing. She quickly climbed off the rug. The wall of firelight flickered in the cave, casting eerie shadows.

"What's coming?"

Before he could finish his words, another beastly roar echoed, closer and clearer than the previous one. The sound was somewhere between human and beast, possessing both rationality and bloodlust, a strange and eerie quality.

Falcon stood at the entrance of the cave, his eyes fixed on the snow outside. The firelight highlighted his taut muscles, making him look like a bow ready to be released.

"Stray beast." He gritted his teeth. "More than one."

Luo Xi's heart tightened. Since coming to this world, she had encountered those orcs expelled from the tribe more than once. In the wilderness, they became more cruel and ruthless than wild beasts. Last time, the scorpion orc almost—

She couldn't help but look at Falcon's back. Every time there was danger, he was the one who stepped forward. She owed him so much.

"Take your stone knife." Falcon said in a cold and hard voice without turning his head, "Don't leave my sight."

Rosie nodded and grabbed the stone knife that lay beside her. The blade gleamed coldly in the firelight, but it couldn't dispel the fear in her heart.

Suddenly, several dark figures appeared at the cave entrance. Rosie gasped—at least five stray beasts, taller and stronger than any she had ever seen. Most terrifying of all, their eyes glowed a strange red, and they exuded a suffocating aura of hostility.

"Falcon..." Her voice trembled.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here." Falcon's voice was surprisingly calm, yet it contained unquestionable power.

The leading stray beast stepped into the cave. He was huge, with thick hair covering his upper body, blood-red eyes, and exposed fangs.

"What a nice smell..." He took a deep breath, staring straight at Luo Xi, "I haven't smelled the scent of a female for a long time."

The other stray beasts followed suit and entered the cave, completely sealing the exit. Their movements were strangely synchronized, and the red light in their eyes was the same brightness, as if they were controlled by some force.

"Get out of the way." Falcon said coldly, and a faint golden light began to appear on his body - he was mobilizing his supernatural powers.

The leading stray beast grinned, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth: "Hand over the female, and I'll spare your life."
