The weak prince's queen

Chapter 27 The night of flowers and candles in the bridal chamber

Outside the room, everyone was celebrating the happy event with great joy and excitement. However, inside the room, Chu Xiyue sat on the bed, motionless, her heart filled with confusion and bewilderment.

She thought of Lin Ruoxue's tragic fate and couldn't help but feel indignant for her. At the same time, she also felt a little sympathy for the prince, who was so young and already terminally ill that he couldn't even get up to participate in such an important event as the wedding ceremony, and could only let the rooster complete the ceremony on his behalf.

In another room, Mo Feng was reporting the situation to Xiao Yichen: "Your Majesty, most of the guests have already left."

Xiao Yichen nodded slightly, then asked, "Um... By the way, has anyone come to the palace?"

Mo Feng replied respectfully, "In reply to your Highness, the eunuch has arrived and brought with him an imperial decree granting you ten thousand taels of gold and a thousand acres of fertile land."

Upon hearing this news, Xiao Yichen sneered, "My brother is quite generous this time."

Mo Feng continued, "Yes, Your Majesty, this reward is truly generous."

Xiao Yichen smiled and said nothing more.

At this time, Mo Feng suddenly teased: "By the way, Prince, our princess is still waiting for you in the room to spend the wedding night together."

Xiao Yichen glared at Mo Feng and said, "How dare you tease me, little brat! Remember to get ten sticks when you get out."

Mo Feng quickly admitted his mistake: "I know I was wrong, Your Majesty, please calm down."

Xiao Yichen waved his hand, indicating that he would not pursue the matter any further.

Chu Xiyue sat on the edge of the bed, her stomach growling with hunger. Unable to wait any longer, she flung aside the obstructing red veil and rushed to the table like a hungry tiger. When she saw the chicken on the table, her eyes lit up, and without hesitation, she grabbed a piece and began to devour it.

Just as she was chewing on the chicken and was about to finish half of it, she suddenly heard a slight noise coming from outside the door. Chu Xiyue was startled and quickly put down the chicken in her hand. She quickly returned to the bed, covered her head with the red veil again, and pretended to be a well-behaved bride.

Xiao Yichen slowly entered the room in a wheelchair. He immediately noticed that the dishes on the table were a bit messy, as if someone had touched them. Then, he moved closer to Chu Xiyue and keenly noticed that her hands were still greasy and she hadn't had time to wipe them clean. He laughed to himself, already guessing what had happened.

"This prince is so miserable! Not only is he in poor health, he's also a cripple. He's truly pathetic." Chu Xiyue watched the wheelchair approach through the gap in her red veil, and a wave of sympathy welled up in her heart. She thought to herself, "It's truly a pity that such a young and handsome prince should have suffered such misfortune."

Through the gap in the veil, Chu Xiyue saw the prince pick up the lever, as if ready to lift the veil. However, just as he was about to do so, he suddenly hesitated and stopped.

Then, Xiao Yichen said to Chu Xiyue in a cold voice: "In the future, as long as you behave yourself in the palace, you will be able to live in peace. Take care of yourself."

Hearing this, Chu Xiyue couldn't help but feel a surge of rage. However, she knew she didn't know her opponent's situation yet, so she couldn't act rashly. So, she secretly warned herself not to repeat the same mistake and get into trouble again because of underestimating the enemy and acting impulsively.

"Yes, Your Highness." Chu Xiyue answered obediently on the surface, but in her heart she had already cursed the prince countless times.

Seeing that Miss Lin was so well-behaved and obedient, Xiao Yichen didn't say anything more. He turned around and pushed the wheelchair out of the room.

Time passed minute by minute, and after confirming that the prince had gone far away, Chu Xiyue couldn't wait to lift the red veil, lay on the wedding bed as if relieved, and took a deep breath.

"I originally sympathized with the prince's situation, but I didn't expect that he would threaten others as soon as he opened his mouth. It's really annoying! He is simply a bastard who actually bullies weak women." Chu Xiyue cursed in a low voice, her heart full of disgust and contempt for the prince.

Chu Xiyue looked around, noticing the entire room was adorned in crimson, a festive atmosphere. Yet, she felt no sense of happiness or joy. Instead, she found the scene profoundly ironic. Her first wedding had been so abrupt, even concluding with a rooster. Furthermore, on such a crucial moment as her wedding night, she had to face threats from her supposed husband. The thought of this made Chu Xiyue burst into laughter, a laugh filled with self-deprecation and resignation.

"Alas, what a tragic fate! Could it be any more tragic?" Chu Xiyue sighed, muttering to herself. She felt immensely sad, as if all the misfortunes had befallen her. She didn't know what the future would hold, nor how to cope with the current predicament. Perhaps, this was fate...

Perhaps because she had been sitting for a long time, Chu Xiyue fell asleep while lying down.
