The weak prince's queen

Chapter 26: Wedding with the Rooster

"Congratulations..." The people received the wedding candies from the wedding procession, their faces filled with happy smiles, and they expressed their blessings and congratulations to the groom.

"The eldest daughter of the Lin family is so pitiful. She married a sickly prince, probably to bring good luck." A commoner muttered in a low voice, but it was still heard by others.

"Shh...are you trying to kill yourself by discussing royal affairs?" Another citizen quickly stopped him and nervously looked around to see if anyone noticed.

"I slapped you in the face." The man turned pale with fear and immediately covered his mouth with his hands, indicating that he dared not speak nonsense anymore.

Chu Xiyue, sitting in the sedan chair, listened to their conversation quietly, and smiled bitterly in her heart. After all, what these people said was true. The prince she was about to marry was indeed in poor health.

Chu Xiyue looked down at the Peace Apple tightly clasped in her hand and couldn't help but feel a hint of irony. This fruit, which should have symbolized happiness and good fortune, now seemed so frail and powerless.

"We've arrived at the palace, the bride is ready to get out of the sedan chair..." the leader shouted loudly, and his voice echoed throughout the street.

The matchmaker carefully opened the curtain and led Chu Xiyue out of the sedan chair. A brazier was placed in front of the palace gate, and the blazing flames created a solemn and mysterious atmosphere. Chu Xiyue knew this was a traditional custom, so she quickly stepped over the brazier without hesitation, hoping for good luck and fortune.

The matchmaker was even more witty in her remarks: "The first time you enter the door, you will be filled with joy; the second time you enter the door, you will have a long and blessed life; the third time you enter the door, you will have many descendants; the fourth time you enter the door, you will have a lot of wealth." Her auspicious words made everyone present feel extremely happy, and they all applauded and cheered.

Chu Xiyue, supported by the matchmaker, slowly walked into the main hall. She was dressed in a bright wedding gown and looked stunning, but her face revealed a hint of confusion and uneasiness.

"The auspicious time has arrived, let's perform the ceremony!" A man shouted loudly, and his voice echoed throughout the hall.

As soon as she finished speaking, a servant holding a rooster suddenly appeared beside Chu Xiyue. This surprised her greatly, and countless questions surged in her mind.

Mo Feng, who was standing nearby, winked at Xi Po. Xi Po understood what he meant and grasped Chu Xiyue's hand tightly, fearing she would make a move.

"Bow to heaven and earth!" As the host shouted, Chu Xiyue slowly bent down and performed the first etiquette.

Then, "Bow to your parents twice!" Chu Xiyue bowed again.

Finally, "Husband and wife bow to each other!" When Chu Xiyue turned around to greet the prince, a rooster dressed in red appeared before her. Her eyes widened in shock, and she was about to stand up to ask what was going on, but the matchmaker held her down firmly.

The matchmaker leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Princess, the prince is seriously ill and bedridden. I hope you will be more understanding." Hearing this, although Chu Xiyue felt unwilling in her heart, she nodded helplessly to show her understanding.

"The ceremony is over, let's go to the bridal chamber!" With the last shout, everyone applauded and cheered, and the atmosphere was extremely warm.

"Eunuch Wang is here..." the guard outside the door reported.

Mo Feng went forward and bowed respectfully, saying, "Eunuch Wang." Eunuch Wang was the chief eunuch of the emperor's entourage.

"I'm here to deliver the imperial edict and to have a drink of wedding wine." Eunuch Wang said with a smile.

"Yes, but our prince is bedridden, please forgive me." Mo Feng said.

"Please have a good rest, Your Highness. I will explain everything to the Emperor." said Eunuch Wang.

"Thank you, Eunuch Wang." Mo Feng said.

"Everyone, listen to the imperial edict." Eunuch Wang shouted.

Everyone knelt down to listen to the order.

"The Emperor, by the grace of Heaven, decrees that on this auspicious day, I grant you ten thousand taels of gold and a thousand acres of fertile land as a wedding gift. I wish your brother and his wife a long and happy marriage. I decree this!" After reading the imperial edict, Eunuch Wang handed it to Mo Feng.

"Thank you, Lord! Long live our emperor!" Mo Feng and everyone shouted in unison.

"Congratulations, Your Highness! Congratulations, Your Highness!" said the eunuch with a smile.

"Thank you, Eunuch Wang!" Mo Feng took the imperial edict and said gratefully.

"You're welcome. This is all the grace of the emperor." Eunuch Wang said with a smile.

"Today is the wedding day of the prince and princess. Let's have some fun and have a drink." Eunuch Wang said as he sat down aside.

Mo Feng quickly had the dishes served and personally poured wine for Eunuch Wang.

"Thank you. Let me offer a toast first. I wish the prince and princess a happy marriage and everlasting love!" Eunuch Wang said with a smile, holding up the wine glass.

"I would like to thank Eunuch Wang on behalf of the prince!" Mo Feng picked up the wine glass and drank it all.

"Haha, good wine!" praised Eunuch Wang.
