"No." Lamia avoided Tom's affectionate gaze.

"Then I'm willing to be caught by you." Tom buried his head in Lamia's hair.

Fireworks exploded in the sky again, and the light fell behind the two people hugging each other, as if they were the only two people left in the world.

After a while, Tom took Lamia's hand and they walked into the room prepared by Professor Slughorn. The room was decorated gorgeously, and there was a dead silence in the luxury. No one spoke, and everyone was secretly looking at each other, with occasional whispers.

Lamia took Tom's arm and smiled politely to everyone who came to greet her.

But in reality, Lamia had long been numb to it. She had attended much more grand dinners than this one.

"Tom, you're here." Slughorn, who was originally chatting and laughing with others, walked over with a smile when he saw Tom. "Hello, Miss Nocturne." For Tom's sake, he politely greeted Lamia.

"Hello, Professor." Lamia's gentle and polite attitude made Slughorn smile with satisfaction.

Then, as if it had been discussed in advance, with just a glance, Tom followed Slughorn to visit various wizards. Tom was smiling the whole time, and his expression was almost exactly the same.

Lamia only took a glance and then thought of something else. She was thinking that at such a distance, Tom probably couldn't hear her thoughts.

Lamia looked back at Tom. He was listening carefully to the bragging of the middle-aged wizard opposite him, nodding from time to time, and seemed to agree with his opinion. He did not notice Lamia's gaze.

Lamia finally felt relieved and planned how to find the right time to take the things she brought from reality. She had to restore her magic power first. There would always be a way later. At worst, she could find a few humans first. This time, she would definitely not be tempted by Tom.

Lamia was having beautiful thoughts and didn't notice the look Tom gave her from the other side, which seemed unintentional. His possessiveness was no longer concealed.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen." Professor Slughorn felt that most people had arrived and walked to the platform in the middle.

The false excitement in the crowd soon died down, and everyone looked at Slughorn as if he were a piece of fat meat, eager to get something from him.

"Thank you all for coming to this dinner. Without further ado, let me invite my most satisfied student, Tom Riddle, and his female companion to perform an opening dance for our dinner!"

The room erupted in deafening applause. Slughorn clapped his hands in satisfaction, then glanced encouragingly at Tom in the audience.

"You didn't tell me there was this." Lamia still smiled, but her eyes were full of blame.

"It's okay. If you don't like it, we can leave now." Tom didn't care about outsiders and held Lamia's hand with his own fingers. His goal had been achieved. He believed that someone would contact him soon.

"That's not good." Lamia followed Tom to the platform generously. The spotlight above her head made her skin look like snow, like a winter elf, extremely beautiful.

Beautiful music sounded as they danced. Lamia followed the rhythm skillfully and danced gracefully. Even Tom became interested and moved more vigorously.

The two of them cooperated very well, as if they had rehearsed it countless times. After the song, the audience burst into thunderous applause.

Lamia pulled the hem of her skirt, walked down the platform with a smile, and was pulled to the corner of the room by Tom.

"Lamia, I regret preparing this dress for you." Tom covered Lamia so tightly that it was impossible to tell from the outside that there were actually two people standing there.

"Why? Is it not pretty?" Lamia gathered up her fallen hair. "But I like it very much."

"No, you're very beautiful, Lamia." Tom handed Lamia a glass of champagne. "It's just that you're too beautiful. I don't like it. They don't deserve to see it." Tom thought of the eyes staring at Lamia from the audience just now, and his face darkened. He had memorized every face, and they would definitely regret their behavior today.

"Oh, Tom, I thought you were satisfied," Lamia said, taking a sip of champagne. Some liquid stuck to her lips, causing Tom to swallow. "After all, isn't this what you brought me here for?"

She glanced at Tom with disdain and spoke.

Only now did she understand that Tom was afraid that he would not be able to attract every wizard, so he brought her here and even arranged such an opening dance with Slughorn. She had never heard of an opening dance at a dinner party.

"You misunderstood, Lamia." Tom sighed helplessly, "I didn't know about it beforehand, and Professor Slughorn invited our group, including you."

"As for using you to attract them, I'm not that magnanimous, and they don't deserve it." Tom hugged Lamia tightly angrily, as if only this could make him feel better.

"OK, just let me go, I believe you." Lamia said casually.

"Hello, beautiful lady, may I have the honor of knowing your name?"

Just as Lamia escaped from Tom's arms and walked to the center of the hall, a well-mannered young man blocked her way.

"I'm Flas McMillan, nice to meet you." Flas bent down and kissed the back of Lamia's hand, his golden eyes shining with determination.

"Excuse me, she's mine."
