Double evil in the business district
Chapter 13 Seeking Perfection in Adversity
"Xiao Yue," Manager Liu interrupted Shen Ting in a bad tone, "You need to deal with these documents immediately." He threw a thick stack of documents heavily in front of Xiao Yue, and a few sheets of paper scattered and fell to the ground like snowflakes.
Xiao Yue's heart sank. She glanced at Shen Ting, then at Manager Liu, a look of embarrassment on her face. "Manager Liu, I'm currently discussing a cooperation plan with Mr. Shen..."
"The cooperation plan is important, but these documents are not important?" Manager Liu interrupted her without any hesitation. "These need to be dealt with urgently. If there is a delay, will you be responsible?" His tone was sharp and aggressive, and there was undisguised hostility in his eyes.
Shen Ting's brow furrowed slightly. He glanced at the scattered documents, then at Xiao Yue, who looked troubled. A subtle hint of displeasure flashed across his eyes. He said in a deep voice, "Manager Liu, if you have anything to say, wait until I finish talking to Miss Xiao."
"Mr. Shen, I know you are very busy," Manager Liu said with a forced smile, "but this matter is indeed urgent and cannot be delayed." He deliberately emphasized the word "urgent", his eyes full of provocation.
Xiao Yue took a deep breath and tried to suppress the irritation in her heart. She knew that Manager Liu was deliberately making things difficult for her, but she didn't have time to argue with him.
She bent down and silently picked up the documents scattered on the ground, then said to Shen Ting: "Mr. Shen, I will go deal with these documents first."
Shen Ting watched Xiao Yue's departing figure, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. He turned to look at Manager Liu and said in a cold tone, "Manager Liu, I hope you won't interrupt me again next time."
Back at her workstation, Xiao Yue piled the documents haphazardly on the corner of her desk and tried to focus on perfecting the cooperation plan. Several key figures still needed to be confirmed, and she had previously contacted a client of Shen's, hoping to obtain some inside information. She called the client again, but received a cold rejection from the other end.
"Ms. Xiao, I'm sorry, I can't provide you with any more information." The client's tone was apologetic. "Public Relations Zhou has spread the word that you're using all means to get this project and spreading false information. I'm struggling now, so I really can't help you anymore."
Xiao Yue's heart sank. She knew it was a competitor behind the scenes. Zhou Gongguan was a renowned PR expert, known for his cunning tactics. She had heard many stories about him before.
Xiao Yue helplessly put down the phone, feeling a darkness before her eyes. The project had reached a deadlock, and Manager Liu kept assigning her tasks, leaving her overwhelmed. She felt like a trapped animal, trapped in an invisible cage, struggling but unable to find a way out.
At this moment, there was a knock on the office door. Xiao Yue looked up and saw Shen Ting's assistant, Assistant Sun, standing at the door. He had a serious expression on his face and a document in his hand.
"Ms. Xiao," Assistant Sun said in a low and calm voice, "Mr. Shen asked me to come and see your progress." He paused and added, "Mr. Shen said your progress is too slow..."
Assistant Sun placed the document on Xiao Yue's desk. The document was the draft of the proposal she had submitted earlier, with revision suggestions densely marked on it in red pen.
Each revision accurately pointed out the shortcomings of the proposal, even minor grammatical errors were not overlooked. Xiao Yue's heart sank suddenly. The professionalism and meticulousness of this revision far exceeded her imagination, making her feel tremendous pressure.
"Mr. Shen said he hopes you can complete the revision of the plan as soon as possible." Assistant Sun's tone was calm, yet it carried unquestionable authority. "He knows you've encountered some difficulties recently, but he hopes you won't let it affect your work progress."
Xiao Yue took a deep breath and tried to control her trembling voice. "I understand. I will finish the revision as soon as possible."
Assistant Sun nodded, turned, and left the office. Xiao Yue slumped weakly in the chair, feeling as if all the strength in his body had been drained.
She picked up the draft plan, which was covered in red ink, and carefully read Shen Ting's revisions line by line. She had to admit that Shen Ting had a sharp eye. Every revision he proposed hit the nail on the head, making the plan more perfect and feasible.
However, several key data points were missing from the plan, which made all her previous efforts go to waste. She had previously contacted a client of Shen's, hoping to obtain some inside information, but now that avenue was blocked.
She searched through all the information but still couldn't find any useful clues. As time passed, her anxiety grew stronger and stronger.
She stood up and paced back and forth in the office, trying to sort out her thoughts. She recalled several conversations she had with Shen Ting, in which he had mentioned some internal industry data reports. Perhaps those reports would contain the data she needed.
She immediately turned on her computer and began searching for relevant reports on Shen's internal network. However, the search results disappointed her greatly. Those reports were either out of date or required high-level permissions to access.
Despair began to creep in. She felt like a drowning person, struggling desperately but unable to grasp at any lifeline. She rubbed her aching temples, trying to calm herself. She remembered what Shen Ting had said: when faced with a problem, one must learn to be flexible and not be limited by existing resources.
Xiao Yue muttered the word "flexibility" to herself, and suddenly, an idea flashed through her mind. She remembered an industry research report released at a previous industry summit. She thought it might contain the data she needed. She immediately opened her email and began searching for the report.
Her efforts paid off, and she finally found the report. She eagerly opened it and began to read it carefully. However, when she saw the data in the report, her heart sank again. The data in the report was significantly different from the data she had previously collected, making her previous analysis and inferences meaningless.
Xiao Yue leaned back in her chair, feeling like all hope was gone. She didn't know what to do. She had tried her best, but she still couldn't complete the task Shen Ting had given her. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her panic.
Suddenly, the office door was pushed open and Manager Liu walked in with a gloomy face.
"Xiao Yue," he said in a cold tone, "I heard that the progress of your project is not ideal."
He walked over to Xiao Yue's desk, picked up the draft plan covered in red ink, and flipped through it casually. "It seems that Mr. Shen is very dissatisfied with your work..." He curled his lips into a cold smile, "I told you long ago that you are not qualified for this job..."
He threw the plan back on the table, turned around and left the office, leaving behind one last meaningful sentence: "Some people, after all, have to return to where they came from..."
After Manager Liu left, the office fell into a deathly silence, with only the sound of Xiao Yue's shallow breathing. She curled up helplessly in her chair, Manager Liu's words like sharp thorns, piercing her heart. Back to where she was...
This means that she will lose this hard-earned opportunity and return to the suffocating environment of Xiao Enterprise.
She wiped the moisture from the corners of her eyes, took a deep breath, and forced herself to cheer up. She couldn't just give up, she had to find a way to solve the problem.
The discrepancies in the data in the report made her realize that she needed more accurate and core data. She re-examined the industry research report and suddenly noticed a footnote mentioning a professional market research organization called "Tianyan Data."
This organization is famous for its comprehensive data and accurate analysis. If we can obtain data from them, we may be able to make up for the shortcomings of the plan.
New hope ignited in Xiao Yue's heart, and she immediately contacted Sky Eye Data to explain her needs. However, they informed her that obtaining the required data required authorization and high-level permissions within Shen's company, a move that undoubtedly dampened Xiao Yue's spirits.
Meanwhile, Manager Liu didn't give up. He began spreading rumors within the company that Xiao Yue would be returned to Xiao's, exaggerating her work ability and incompetence, even suggesting that she got in through connections.
Rumors quickly spread throughout the company, and Xiao Yue became the focus of discussion. Her colleagues looked at her with sympathy, ridicule, and even gloating. The already tense work atmosphere became even more oppressive, and Xiao Yue felt like she was trapped in a giant cage with nowhere to escape.
In order to obtain access to the "Sky Eye Data," Xiao Yue began running around. She first found her department head and explained the situation, but the head of department rejected her request, citing the complicated process and difficulty in obtaining access.
She approached several other departments that might have the authority, but was met with rejection. Everyone avoided her, fearing they would be dragged into this mess.
As time ticked by, Xiao Yue grew increasingly anxious. As the sky darkened and the deadline drew closer, she still hadn't achieved anything. Just as she was about to despair, she thought of Assistant Sun.
Although Assistant Sun is only Shen Ting's assistant, he is smooth and has extensive connections in the company, so perhaps he can help.
Holding onto her last glimmer of hope, Xiao Yue called Assistant Sun. After the call was connected, she nervously explained her request.
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a moment, and then Assistant Sun's calm voice came: "I see. I'll ask for you."
These few simple words, like a reassurance, calmed Xiao Yue's anxious mood a little. She returned to the office and continued to refine the rest of the plan.
Despite the missing data, she still tried her best to make the other parts the best she could. She checked and revised them over and over again, striving for perfection.
As night fell, Xiao Yue was the only one left in the office. She rubbed her sore eyes and looked at the preliminary plan on the computer screen, feeling a mixture of emotions. She didn't know if this plan would pass Shen Ting's final review, nor did she know if she could stay at Shen's.
Suddenly, there was a gentle knock on the office door, and a deep voice sounded outside the door: "Xiao Yue, it's me."
Xiao Yue raised her head abruptly, her heart pounding. It was Shen Ting! Why would he come at this hour? She took a deep breath, steadied her trembling hands, stood up, and opened the door.
Shen Ting stood at the door. The dim light outlined a slender figure behind him, and his expression was unclear. He held a document in his hand, his eyes fixed on Xiao Yue deeply.
"Mr. Shen..." Xiao Yue spoke in a low voice, with a hint of nervousness in his tone.
"Is the plan complete?" Shen Ting walked straight into the office and placed the documents on the table. "I have authorized you to access the Sky Eye data. This is the latest data they sent."
Xiao Yue was stunned. She hadn't expected Shen Ting to personally deliver the data to her. She picked up the file with surprise and quickly glanced through it. This data was exactly what she needed. With it, her plan would be more complete.
"Thank you, Mr. Shen." Xiao Yue raised her head gratefully, her eyes slightly red.
Shen Ting didn't say anything, just looked at her quietly. After a moment, he picked up the plan on the table and flipped through it. The office was silent, with only the sound of flipping papers and Xiao Yue's nervous breathing.
Time ticked by, each second feeling like a century. Xiao Yue stared closely at Shen Ting, observing every subtle change in his expression, trying to discern his opinion of the plan. However, Shen Ting's expression remained calm, unpredictable.
Finally, Shen Ting put down the plan in his hand and looked up at Xiao Yue. His eyes were deep and complex, as if he could see through everything.
"The plan still has many shortcomings." Shen Ting's voice was low and calm, but it was like a heavy hammer hitting Xiao Yue's heart.
Xiao Yue's heart sank instantly. She knew that she had not been able to meet Shen Ting's requirements after all. She bit her lip, holding back the tears in her eyes, and waited for Shen Ting's final verdict.
"But," Shen Ting changed the subject, "I can see that you are very dedicated and work very hard."
Xiao Yue suddenly raised his head, a glimmer of hope flashing in his eyes.
"Come to the conference room at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning with the final and perfect plan." After Shen Ting said this, he turned and left the office, leaving only a tall and straight back.
Xiao Yue stood there blankly, a mixture of emotions welling up in her. Shen Ting's words gave her a glimmer of hope, but it also meant she needed to keep working. She immediately turned on her computer and began revising her plan based on the new data. Time was running out, and she had to race against time.
Xiao Yue was busy in the office all night, revising and improving the plan over and over again, striving to make it perfect.
The sky outside the window gradually turned white, and a new day was about to arrive. Xiao Yue finally completed the final version of the plan. She took a deep breath, closed her computer, and leaned back in her chair tiredly.
The next morning, Xiao Yue arrived at the meeting room for the cooperation negotiation, bringing her carefully crafted plan. The door to the meeting room was ajar, and through the crack, she saw Shen Ting and other senior executives. Taking a deep breath, Xiao Yue pushed open the door...
