Warhammer: From the Devouring C'tan Fragments
Chapter 288 Summoning
Iser stretched out his trembling fingers and gently stroked the cover of the book, feeling the smooth touch.
His lips moved slightly, and he murmured softly, "Omniscient and omnipotent Lord of Wisdom, is this your revelation to me?"
On the surface, Isel is a staunch believer in the Emperor, but in fact, he secretly believes in another god - the Lord of Wisdom.
For so many years, he had kept it hidden, unknown. Faced with this mysterious dream, he couldn't help but wonder if it was guidance from the Lord of Wisdom. He silently prayed to the Lord of Wisdom, hoping for some revelation or answer.
Iser took a deep breath, placed his hands on the book, and began to pray devoutly: "Great Lord of Wisdom, please give me guidance!"
He closed his eyes, feeling a mysterious power emanating from the book, and an inexplicable excitement welled up in his heart, as if something was changing his destiny.
After a while, Iser opened his eyes and gently flipped open the cover of the human skin. He nervously looked at the pages of the book, hoping to find some clues or guidance.
However, to his disappointment, every page was blank, without any words or patterns.
Iser frowned, bewildered. Was his guess wrong? Didn't the book offer him any guidance from the Lord of Wisdom? Just as he was about to give up, he suddenly realized that when he turned to the last page, it wasn't blank.
On the last page of the book, a line of mysterious blue text appeared. These words were not familiar to Iser, but seemed to come from another world, filled with an ancient and mysterious atmosphere.
Iser stared at the words, trying to comprehend their meaning. He could sense their power, as if they resonated with something deep within him. Although he couldn't read them, he had a hunch that they held great significance for him.
Iser stared at the words with wide eyes, incredulous. He had never imagined that he had truly received guidance from the Lord of Wisdom, and that the content of this guidance was so similar to the scene in his dream.
"Death is approaching, and there is only one way to avoid it."
These words echoed in Iser's mind, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of fear. He didn't know if he was really facing the threat of death, but he understood the seriousness of this instruction.
If he cannot find a way to avoid death, then he may lose his life.
"Praise the great Lord of wisdom, your humble lamb hopes to receive your guidance."
After understanding the content of that line of text, Iser closed the book, knelt on the ground in front of the book, and continued to pray to the human skin book.
Iser kowtowed three times before standing up and approaching the human-skin book again. He reached out a trembling hand and carefully turned the pages, his heart filled with anticipation and awe.
This time, a miracle happened! When Iseil opened the book, a line of clear text immediately appeared on the first page. Iseil's eyes widened, almost choking with excitement. He leaned in close to the book and read the contents carefully.
"If you wish to avoid death, you must sacrifice the lives of fifty-eight mortals through the art of skinning. Only then can you summon my incarnation and receive my assistance..."
After reading this, Iserl's excitement grew. He had thought that summoning the incarnation of the Lord of Wisdom would require a huge price, but he hadn't expected that only fifty-eight mortal lives would be enough. This price was so small that it was almost insignificant to him.
As for the aforementioned requirement of fifty-eight skinned mortals, Iseil didn't see it as a problem. In his eyes, the lives of these common people were like ants; dying for the noble Lord Iseil was a blessing they had earned in their past lives.
A sneer crossed Isel's lips. He decided to follow the Lord of Wisdom's instructions. He would personally select fifty-eight innocent people as sacrifices to complete this bloody skinning ritual.
Iser showed no mercy to those who were about to suffer, for he firmly believed that everything he did was for a greater purpose - to save himself.
The dim basement of the Governor's Mansion was filled with a stench of decay and blood. An oil lamp with a faint flame burned on the wall, bringing a strange light to the dark space.
Following the instructions in the human skin book, Issel captured fifty-eight civilians and, with the help of his servitors, brutally peeled off their skins. These innocent lives were mercilessly stripped of their skin and became victims of this horrific experiment.
He then carefully arranged the bodies of the fifty-eight people according to a specific ritual, placing a foul-smelling oil lamp among the bodies. This lamp was made of fat boiled from human bodies, which was horrifying.
When Iser finished all the preparations, he knelt devoutly in front of the oil lamp and began to murmur a prayer:
“Great *** (Flayer) God, please listen to the call of your humble servant…”
His voice was filled with fear and expectation, as if he was praying to some mysterious and evil power. As he whispered, a strange murmur echoed in the basement, and the sound echoed in the empty hall, seeming particularly eerie and terrifying.
At the same time, the lamp sealed in human oil began to sway violently amidst Iser's whispers. Its flame also became unstable, sometimes rising and sometimes falling, as if some terrifying existence was about to descend upon this world.
Iser stared at the oil seal with wide eyes, his heart filled with excitement and nervousness. He knew he was coming into contact with a power beyond human comprehension, but he could no longer turn back.
When Issel saw the miraculous reaction of the oil seal, he whispered even harder, his voice growing louder and louder, more and more eager, hoping to get a response from that mysterious power.
The entire basement was shrouded in his whispers, and the atmosphere became increasingly oppressive and terrifying. As Iser prayed over and over again, the oil lamp swayed more violently.
Suddenly, a fist-sized blue space crack appeared at the wick of the oil lamp in front of Isel, and dark figures emerged one after another.
When Iser saw the scene in front of him, he was suddenly excited. It seemed that the God of Wisdom had answered his prayers.
