The Second World in Ancient Times
Chapter 3 Childhood, Ignorance and Curiosity
As time flies, Si Qing gradually grows up in this ancient world. From the ignorance of infancy to her childhood, she is full of curiosity and desire to explore the world around her.
The family mansion where Si Qing lives is like a mysterious castle, its corners hiding unknown surprises. The flowers and trees in the courtyard bloom in brilliant colors under the sunlight, exuding enchanting fragrance. Si Qing often strolls through the garden in the morning breeze, touching the petals with her delicate hands and feeling the beauty of nature.
The buildings in the palace were quaint and elegant, with carved beams and painted rafters, brimming with artistic flair. Si Qing would gaze curiously up at the high rooftops, imagining the stories behind the exquisite carvings. She would also run and play in the long corridors, listening to the sound of her footsteps echoing in the empty space.
In this world full of novelties, Si Qing's curiosity is like a burning flame, growing stronger and stronger. She is full of questions about everything around her and is always pestering her family with questions.
"Brother, why is the sky blue?" Si Qing pulled her brother's clothes and asked with blinking eyes.
My brother smiled, squatted down, and patiently answered, "Because there are many small particles in the sky that we can't see, they scatter the sunlight and turn it blue, so the sky looks blue."
Si Qing nodded, not quite understanding, and then asked, "Then why do flowers have different colors?"
My brother thought for a moment and said, "This is because flowers contain different pigments, just like the paints we use to paint. Different pigments make flowers appear different colors."
Si Qing was very satisfied with her brother's answer, and she began to observe other things around her with curiosity. She would stare at a busy little ant for a long time, watching it crawl around on the ground, carrying food that was bigger than its body. She didn't understand why the little ant was so hardworking, nor did she know where its home was.
One day, Si Qing spotted a beautiful butterfly in the garden. Its wings were vibrant and shimmered in the sunlight. Excited, Si Qing chased after it, hoping to catch it. But the butterfly was incredibly agile, always flying away just as she was about to catch it. Si Qing refused to give up and kept chasing the butterfly until she was exhausted and breathless.
Finally, the butterfly landed on a flower. Si Qing approached cautiously, observing the butterfly closely. She noticed the many tiny scales on its wings, which formed a beautiful pattern. Deeply captivated by the butterfly's beauty, Si Qing forgot her original intention of catching it. She simply watched the butterfly quietly, taking in the wonders of nature.
Besides being curious about nature, Si Qing was also fascinated by the people and events within her family. She would observe the servants at work, watching them clean the yard, prepare meals, and care for the horses. She didn't understand why the servants did these things, nor did she know what their lives were like.
One day, Si Qing secretly followed a servant into the kitchen. The place was steaming hot and fragrant. The servants were busy preparing meals, some chopping vegetables, others frying vegetables, and still others boiling soup. Si Qing watched their movements with curiosity, puzzled by how they could transform ordinary ingredients into delicious dishes.
A servant was shocked when he saw Si Qing. He quickly picked her up and said, "Miss, this place is very dangerous. You can't come here."
Si Qing was not afraid. She asked, "What are you doing? Why do these things smell so good?"
The servant smiled and replied, "We are cooking. Put these ingredients in the pot and boil and stir-fry them, and they will become very fragrant and delicious."
After hearing the servant's answer, Si Qing became even more curious. She wanted to see how the food was made, so she struggled in the servant's arms, trying to get out. The servant had no choice but to put her in a safe place and let her watch him cook.
Si Qing watched the servants skillfully operate various kitchen utensils, turning ingredients into delicious dishes, and her heart was filled with admiration. She began to understand that everyone has their own work and responsibilities, and these work and responsibilities are all for the betterment of the family.
Si Qing was also curious about the activities of her elders. She would observe her father reading and writing in his study, wondering why he did these things. She would also watch her mother embroidering and playing the piano in her room, wondering why she enjoyed these activities so much.
One day, Si Qing walked into her father's study. The room was filled with books and paintings, and exuded a faint scent of ink. Curious, Si Qing looked at the books on the shelf and wanted to take a look. But she couldn't reach them, so she had to ask her father for help.
When her father saw Si Qing coming in, he smiled and picked her up, and asked, "Qing'er, why are you here?"
Si Qing pointed at the books on the shelf and said, "Dad, what are these books? Why do you want to read them?"
My father patiently replied, "These books are a treasure trove of knowledge. They contain many interesting stories and lessons. Dad reads them to learn more so that he can better manage his family and country."
Si Qing listened to her father's answer, but she didn't quite understand. She asked again, "When can I read?"
The father smiled and said, "When you grow up, you can read books. But now you can listen to your father tell you stories."
So, her father took a storybook from the shelf and began to tell Si Qing a story. Si Qing listened with gusto, deeply captivated by the characters and plot. From then on, she would often pester her father to tell her stories, and her thirst for knowledge grew stronger and stronger.
In addition to being curious about books and stories, Si Qing was also curious about the etiquette and rules of her family. She didn't understand why there were so many rules to follow when eating, why she had to bow to her elders, and why she couldn't speak casually.
Once, Si Qing accidentally dropped her chopsticks while eating. She was about to reach out to pick them up when her mother stopped her. Her mother told her that she shouldn't drop her chopsticks while eating, and if she did, she would have to wait for the servants to pick them up. Si Qing didn't understand why, and she felt like she could pick them up.
My mother patiently explained, "This is our family's rule. We must be elegant and polite when eating. If you drop your chopsticks on the ground, it would be impolite to pick them up yourself."
Si Qing listened to her mother's explanation. Although she still didn't quite understand, she knew she had to abide by the family rules. From then on, she was more careful when eating and began to study the family's etiquette and rules.
As a child, Siqing's curiosity led her to constantly explore the world. Her questions, though childish, were filled with a love of life and a thirst for the unknown. Her family patiently answered her questions, satisfying her curiosity and allowing her to grow through exploration.
As time went on, Si Qing's curiosity became more and more extensive. She began to be interested in the world outside her family. She would listen to the servants' stories about the outside world and imagine what it was like.
One day, a servant told Si Qing a story about a distant city. It was a large and prosperous city, with many tall buildings and bustling streets. Si Qing was deeply attracted to it and asked, "Where is that city? Can we go and see it?"
The servant smiled and replied, "That city is very far away. We may not be able to go there. But when you grow up, you can go out into the world and see the many interesting places there are."
After hearing the servant's words, Si Qing's heart was filled with anticipation. She began to yearn to grow up and explore the outside world. She knew that the world was huge, with many unknown things waiting for her to discover.
During this curious childhood, Si Qing made friends. Together they played in the garden and explored every corner of the family mansion. They spent many happy hours together catching butterflies, watching ants, and climbing trees.
One day, Si Qing and his friends discovered a mysterious cave in the garden. The cave was small, only big enough for one person. Si Qing and his friends were curious about what was inside the cave, so they decided to take turns going in to take a look.
The first kid who went in came out quickly, saying there was nothing inside. But Si Qing didn't believe it, so she decided to go in and take a look. As she carefully walked into the cave, she found some strange stones and patterns inside. She didn't understand what they meant, but she found them very interesting.
After coming out of the cave, Si Qing discussed what he had found with his friends. Although they did not know the true meaning of the stones and patterns, their imaginations allowed them to give them all kinds of magical stories.
Siqing's childhood was filled with curiosity and joy. She observed the world with her own eyes and felt it with her heart. Her curiosity allowed her to grow and progress, and it also laid a solid foundation for her future.
However, Si Qing also knows that the world is not always beautiful. Within the family, there will be some minor conflicts and disputes. But she believes that as long as she has the love and support of her family, she will be able to face everything bravely.
Once, Si Qing and her brother got into an argument over a small toy. Her brother wanted the toy, and Si Qing wanted it too. They refused to give in, and ended up fighting. Seeing them like this, their mother was furious. She called them over and gave them a stern reprimand.
Their mother told them that siblings should care for each other and be humble, and not argue or fight over trivial matters. Si Qing and her brother felt ashamed after hearing their mother's words. They apologized to each other and shared their toys with their friends.
Since then, Si Qing has cherished the relationship with her family even more. She knows that her family is her strongest support and they will always be together no matter what difficulties they encounter.
Si Qing experienced some minor setbacks during her childhood. For example, she often fell when learning to walk, and her drawings were always poor. But she never gave up, always bravely standing up and continuing to work hard.
Once, Si Qing wanted to paint a beautiful garden. She worked for a long time, but her results were always disappointing. Frustrated, she wanted to give up. But her brother saw her drawing and encouraged her, saying, "Qing'er, you paint very well! If you work harder, you'll definitely be able to do even better."
Si Qing listened to her brother's words and cheered up. She carefully observed the flowers and butterflies in the garden, and then began to paint with great effort. Finally, she finally painted a beautiful garden painting.
In her childhood, Si Qing's innocent curiosity filled her life with color. She grew through exploration and progressed despite setbacks. She knew the road ahead was long, but she was full of confidence and courage.
