Mo Ziyu seized her wrist and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Blame me? It was clearly your own carelessness." As he spoke, he suddenly lowered his head, leaned close to her cheek, and gently blew a breath.

The warm breath brushed against her cheeks, carrying a faint fragrance of grass and trees. Tang Xueyi felt her heart skip a beat, her cheeks burned even hotter, as if she were holding a small furnace, and even her ears turned bright red.

She hurriedly turned her face away, not daring to look him in the eye, and whispered, "You! Don't do anything rash."

Looking at her shy and bashful appearance, Mo Ziyu felt as if a feather had gently tickled his heart, making it feel itchy and warm.

He had never seen such a sweet and gentle little girl before, she was so cute!

He released her wrist, but didn't pull his hand back. Instead, he gently wiped the charcoal ash off her cheek with his fingertips, his movements incredibly gentle: "Alright, it's clean!"

He said softly, his voice carrying a tenderness he himself was unaware of: "Our Xue'er is still beautiful."

Tang Xueyi's heart pounded. She didn't dare look up at him, and could only stare at the grilled fish in her hand, pretending to be focused on turning the branch. The flames reflected on her flushed cheeks, making her features appear even softer.

Before long, the two fish were grilled to a golden brown, filling the air with a wonderful aroma. Mo Ziyu handed the grilled fish to Tang Xueyi: "Eat it quickly, it won't taste good when it gets cold."

Tang Xueyi took the grilled fish and carefully took a bite. The deliciousness of the fish spread on her tongue, warming her from her stomach all the way to her heart.

She glanced at Mo Ziyu beside her. He was eating grilled fish with gusto, a little oil on the corner of his mouth, but he didn't look disheveled at all. Instead, he exuded a carefree and unrestrained youthful spirit.

"Little brother!" Tang Xueyi suddenly spoke, her voice soft, "Do you think we can go out tomorrow?"

Upon hearing this, Mo Ziyu paused, looked up at her, and seeing a hint of worry in her eyes, put down the grilled fish, patted his chest, and laughed, "Don't worry, with me here, we'll definitely get out. Tomorrow I'll scout ahead and find a way down the mountain."

His tone was firm and confident, as if it possessed a magical power that instantly dispelled most of Tang Xueyi's unease.

She nodded, took a big bite of the grilled fish, and a slight smile curved her lips.

The wind was still howling outside the cave, but the firelight inside grew even warmer.

The two little ones sat side by side by the fire, eating fragrant grilled fish and chatting casually. Occasionally, a few clear laughs would echo in the empty cave, dispelling all fear and unease.

Tang Xueyi finished the last bite of fish, patted her round belly, and let out a satisfied burp. Mo Ziyu looked at her adorable appearance and couldn't help but ruffle her hair again. This time she didn't dodge, but just tilted her head slightly, looking at the dancing flames with a smile in her eyes.

The flickering firelight illuminated two small figures nestled together, creating a heartwarming scene in the desolate mountains.

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, a thin layer of mist still hung in the mountains and forests, carrying a chilling coolness.

Mo Ziyu was awakened by the clear chirping of birds outside the cave. He rubbed his eyes and sat up. Turning his head, he saw that Tang Xueyi was still sleeping soundly beside him. Her long eyelashes were hanging down quietly, and her little face was rosy, like a ripe apple.

Afraid of waking her, he moved very quietly, tiptoed to the cave entrance, and peeked out.

The misty mountains and forests were shadowy and indistinct, obscuring the road in the distance. The only sounds were the rustling of leaves in the wind and the occasional roar of a beast, which made one's heart tighten.

Mo Ziyu frowned, remembering the human traffickers from yesterday, and became more wary.

He touched the cloth bag at his waist; the tinderbox was still inside, along with a few marbles—things he usually used to hunt birds, but now they served as weapons for self-defense.

As he was pondering which direction to go, he suddenly heard a soft sound behind him.

Looking back, Tang Xueyi was already awake, rubbing her eyes and looking at him blankly: "Big brother, you're awake?"

Her voice was soft and sweet, with a husky quality from just waking up, which softened Mo Ziyu's heart.

He walked over, squatted down, and said with a smile, "Yeah, I just woke up too. Now that you're awake, get up. I'll go outside and gather some dry branches to start a fire, and while I'm at it, see if I can find some wild fruit to tide us over. Once we're full, we can scout out the way down the mountain."

Tang Xueyi nodded and obediently replied "okay," then slowly stood up and began to straighten her wrinkled dress.

She had been pampered since childhood and had never suffered like this before. After a night of this, she felt sore all over and had two small blisters on her feet, making her walk with a limp.

Mo Ziyu, with his sharp eyes, immediately noticed her unusual condition and quickly squatted down to check her feet: "What's wrong? Are your feet blistered?"

Tang Xueyi pursed her lips, nodded, and her eyes reddened slightly: "It hurts a little bit."

Looking at the two red blisters on the back of her foot, Mo Ziyu felt a pang of self-reproach.

Yesterday, I was so focused on pulling her to safety that I didn't even notice her feet.

He sighed, got up and walked to a corner of the cave, where some simple utensils he had found the day before were placed, including a small earthenware jar that still contained half a jar of water.

He poured some water into his palm, then took out a clean strip of cloth from his bag and carefully wiped the blisters on the back of her feet, his movements incredibly gentle.

"Bear with it," he whispered. "I'll go into the mountains later and see if I can find some herbs to apply to it. It will stop hurting soon."

Tang Xueyi felt a warmth in her heart as she looked at his serious expression, and most of her previous grievances and fears instantly dissipated.

She whispered, "Thank you, little brother."

Mo Ziyu looked up and grinned at her: "Why are you being so polite with me? We've been through thick and thin together."

After the two finished tidying up, Mo Ziyu first went outside the cave to collect some dry branches and started a fire. Then he went to the nearby woods and, with good luck, found some bright red wild grass, berries, and some sweet and sour wild hawthorns.

He handed the wild fruit to Tang Xueyi, and watching her eat it in small bites, her eyes crinkling with joy, his heart leaped with happiness.

After eating and drinking their fill, Mo Ziyu found two branches of moderate thickness, whittled them into simple walking sticks, and handed one to Tang Xueyi: "Take this, it will save you some energy when walking."

Tang Xueyi took the cane and gave him a grateful look.

The two walked out of the cave one after the other. The fog had dissipated considerably, and sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled patterns of light and shadow on the ground.

Mo Ziyu walked ahead, holding a long branch in his hand, occasionally parting the bushes blocking his way, and vigilantly watching the surrounding movements.

Tang Xueyi followed behind him, gripping her cane tightly. She was still a little scared and kept glancing around.
