God Slayer: Make Up for the Past

Chapter 5: Life in the Rift

The crack gaped open, a terrifying maw that seemed to lead to an endless abyss. A violent suction force pulled Chu Feng and Pan Yue toward it, their ears filled with the whistling wind and Wang Xieling's triumphant laughter.

"Chu Feng! Pan Yue!" Captain Zhang's eyes were bloodshot as he watched the two men being sucked towards the unknown horror. He struggled to rush forward, but was blocked by the surging black mist.

Lin Yao's face turned pale as she stepped back in fear. She lost her balance and nearly fell into the crack. "Ah!" she screamed, her body involuntarily falling forward.

At the critical moment, Chu Feng stretched out his hand with all his might and grabbed Lin Yao's wrist. The violent tug made his arm muscles tense, almost breaking. "Hold me!" He gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead.

Lin Yao's hands were cold and trembling. She clutched Chu Feng's hand tightly, as if grasping the last straw. "Chu Feng..." She choked, her eyes filled with fear and gratitude.

However, just as Chu Feng rescued Lin Yao, Wang Xieling's attack arrived. Black mist transformed into a sharp blade, piercing Chu Feng's chest. In the critical moment, Pan Yue suddenly pushed Chu Feng, blocking the fatal blow for him.

"Pan Yue!" Chu Feng watched Pan Yue being hit by the black fog, his body flying backwards and falling heavily to the ground.

"Cough cough..." Pan Yue coughed up a mouthful of blood, his face instantly turning pale. He struggled to stand up, but fell down weakly.

Chu Feng's heart was twisted like a knife, and he was burning with anger. He stood up suddenly, staring at Wang Xieling with red eyes, and the Tang sword in his hand made a buzzing sound.

"I want you to die!" Chu Feng roared and rushed towards Wang Xieling.

Wang Xieling let out a sharp roar, and the black mist rolled up again, forming a barrier that blocked Chu Feng's attack. It didn't seem to be in a hurry to kill Chu Feng, but kept pushing them closer to the crack.

Chu Feng fended off Wang Xie Ling's attacks while carefully protecting Lin Yao and Pan Yue. He noticed that Wang Xie Ling seemed hesitant and even a little fearful as he approached the crack. The dark aura emanating from the crack seemed to have a certain effect on him.

"Could it be..." A thought flashed through Chu Feng's mind. He looked up at the bottomless crack, and a trace of determination flashed in his eyes.

"Pan Yue, take good care of Lin Yao." Chu Feng said in a low voice, then pushed Pan Yue away and rushed towards Wang Xieling.

He no longer dodged Wang Xieling's attacks, but instead proactively met them head-on. The Tang sword in his hand slashed with sharp sword energy, forcing Wang Xieling to retreat continuously, getting closer and closer to the crack...

"You're crazy!" Wang Xieling shouted in horror, his voice trembling.

Chu Feng ignored him. A mad light flashed in his eyes as he pushed Wang Xieling towards the edge of the crack step by step...

"No...don't..." Wang Xieling's voice stopped abruptly.

The madness in Chu Feng's eyes wasn't a loss of reason, but rather a desperate determination. He keenly sensed the strangeness in Wang Xieling's expression as he approached the rift—not simple fear, but an instinctive dread. Beyond rage, Wang Xieling's roar was tinged with a subtle tremor. Its attacks became hesitant, as if it were desperately trying to avoid approaching the bottomless crevice.

The cracks weren't just filled with a violent suction force; they also emitted a cold, eerie aura. This aura made Chu Feng feel extremely uncomfortable, but it also ignited a glimmer of hope. If even evil spirits feared this aura, then perhaps the cracks held a power capable of restraining them.

A bold and risky idea formed in Chu Feng's mind. He deliberately exposed a flaw, pretending to be hit by Wang Xieling's attack, and staggered towards the edge of the crack.

"Go to hell!" Wang Xieling screamed, and the black mist transformed into sharp claws, grabbing Chu Feng fiercely. It seemed to have foreseen the end of Chu Feng being swallowed by the crack, and its eyes flashed with cruel excitement.

Lin Yao and Pan Yue's hearts were in their throats. Lin Yao wanted to rush over to help, but Pan Yue held her back tightly. "Trust him!" Pan Yue's voice was trembling, but incredibly firm. He knew Chu Feng must have his reasons for doing this.

Just as Wang Xieling's sharp claws were about to touch Chu Feng, Chu Feng's body suddenly twisted strangely, narrowly avoiding the attack. He rolled to the edge of the crack, one hand tightly grasping the ground, his body suspended above the abyss.

Wang Xieling's attack missed, and the immense inertia caused it to involuntarily tilt forward, bringing it one step closer to the crack. It seemed to sense the danger and wanted to retreat, but it was too late.

The cold air gushing out of the crack suddenly became violent, like an invisible giant hand, tightly grasping Wang Xieling. Wang Xieling let out a shrill scream and struggled violently, but was unable to escape the powerful suction.

Chu Feng's eyes were as sharp as a knife. This was the moment he had been waiting for! He took a deep breath and poured all his strength into the Tang sword in his hand.

"Now!" Chu Feng roared, and the Tang sword in his hand burst out with dazzling light, turning into a silver lightning, and slashed fiercely at the bound Wang Xieling.

"No..." Wang Xieling's voice abruptly stopped. A flash of silver blade light flashed, tracing a perfect arc through the air, striking Wang Xieling with pinpoint accuracy. Bound by the power of the rift, Wang Xieling was unable to dodge and could only watch helplessly as the blade's light tore through his body. A shrill scream echoed through the valley, and the black mist quickly dissipated like a popped balloon, revealing Wang Xieling's true form—a twisted mass of black matter. A deep scar, deep enough to see the bone, appeared on this mass, and a dark green liquid continuously flowed from it, emitting a sickening stench.

"Success!" Lin Yao couldn't help but cheer out loud, and her heart finally settled down.

Pan Yue also breathed a sigh of relief, his tense body relaxing. He exclaimed in admiration, "Chu Feng, you're truly amazing! You actually succeeded!"

Chu Feng did not relax his vigilance. He stared closely at the injured Wang Xieling, the Tang sword in his hand still flashing with cold light. He knew that the evil spirit's vitality was extremely tenacious, and even if it was seriously injured, it would not necessarily die.

As expected, Wang Xieling's screams gradually subsided, and its twisted body began to wriggle. Dark green fluid gushed from its wounds, wriggling like a living creature, attempting to repair its wounds. Its eyes were filled with resentment and anger. It stared at Chu Feng intently and uttered a hoarse voice, "Damn... human... I'm going to... kill you..."

The injured Wang Xieling became even more crazy. He rushed towards Chu Feng regardless of everything. The black mist turned into sharp claws, waving them wildly.

"Be careful!" Lin Yao warned.

Chu Feng was already prepared. He calmly wielded his Tang sword, neutralizing Wang Xieling's attacks one by one. Pan Yue also assisted, using the talismans in his hand to disrupt Wang Xieling's movements. After the previous battle, they had gradually mastered Wang Xieling's attack rhythm and their coordination had become more and more tacit. For a while, despite Wang Xieling's increasingly fierce attacks, he was unable to break through Chu Feng and Pan Yue's defenses.

Captain Zhang also arrived at the scene. A flicker of surprise flashed in his eyes when he saw Chu Feng and Pan Yue manage to hold their own against the injured Wang Xieling. He immediately joined the fray, his powerful spiritual energy transforming into golden blades of light, which continuously bombarded Wang Xieling.

Under the combined attack of the three, Wang Xieling's situation became increasingly difficult. Its body was constantly attacked, wounds were increasing, and dark green liquid was almost flowing like a river.

Just when everyone thought victory was assured, something unexpected happened.

Wang Xieling suddenly stopped attacking. He let out a sharp roar towards the sky, and his body began to swell. Black mist surged out like a tide, instantly covering the entire space.

"Not good!" Captain Zhang's face changed drastically. He felt that a powerful evil force was spreading rapidly.

The black fog grew thicker and thicker, obscuring the sky and the sun, making it impossible to see one's hand in front of one's face. Chu Feng and the others lost sight of Wang Xieling and could only hear its creepy growls in the darkness.

"What...what is it going to do..." There was a hint of fear in Lin Yao's voice.

Chu Feng gripped the Tang sword tightly, feeling the cold air around him, and a sense of foreboding welled up in his heart. He said in a deep voice, "Be careful, it must be plotting something..."

Before he finished speaking, a piercing scream suddenly rang out from the darkness, followed by a deathly silence...

"Pan Yue..." Chu Feng called out his companion's name in a low voice, but there was no response. His heart sank, and he gripped the Tang sword even tighter.

"Damn..." Captain Zhang's voice came from the darkness, "What the hell is this..."
