God Slayer: Make Up for the Past

Chapter 4 Trapped in the Realm of Evil Spirits

Thick darkness engulfed the cramped alleyway. Wang Xieling's roar echoed through the twisted space, jarring his eardrums. Black mist swirled like boiling asphalt, emitting a sickening stench. Chu Feng felt a tightness in his chest, as if gripped tightly by an invisible hand.

"Scatter!" Captain Zhang shouted and retreated violently. The rune sword in his hand flashed with dazzling light, barely resisting the erosion of the black mist.

Lin Yao and Pan Yue also retreated quickly, but Wang Xieling was even faster. Like a flash of black lightning, it instantly appeared before Lin Yao, its claws swishing and stirring up a gust of bloody wind. Lin Yao cried out in surprise and barely dodged, but a deep, bloody gash remained on her left arm.

"Lin Yao!" Chu Feng's eyes were bloodshot as he rushed towards Wang Xie Ling without hesitation. He brandished the Tang sword in his hand, the blade flashing like snow, and fiercely chopped at Wang Xie Ling's head.

However, Wang Xieling drifted erratically through the distorted space like a ghost. Chu Feng's attack missed again, and Wang Xieling instead kicked him in the chest. His old injury recurred, and intense pain spread through his body like an electric current. Chu Feng groaned and stumbled back a few steps.

"Chu Feng!" Pan Yue hurriedly supported Chu Feng and asked with concern, "How are you?"

Chu Feng gritted his teeth, endured the pain, and shook his head: "I'm fine." He knew that now was not the time to fall down.

Wang Xieling let out a sharp laugh, and the black mist surged again, surrounding Chu Feng and others.

"It's useless! Your strength will be infinitely suppressed in this space!" Wang Xieling's voice was filled with pride. "And I will recover to my peak state!"

Chu Feng held on, brandishing his Tang sword, trying again and again to break through Wang Xieling's defenses. He knew he had to find a way to break through this distorted space, otherwise they would all die here.

Suddenly, Chu Feng's eyes fell on some strange markings on the wall of the alley. These markings flickered with a faint light, and seemed to be related to the source of Wang Xieling's power.

"Those markings..." Chu Feng pointed at the markings on the wall and said to Pan Yue, "Do you find them strange?"

Pan Yue followed Chu Feng's gaze and also noticed the strange markings. He frowned and carefully observed the shape and arrangement of the markings.

"These marks... I seem to have seen them somewhere..." Pan Yue muttered to himself, trying hard to recall.

At this moment, Wang Xieling launched another attack. Black mist surged in like a tide, engulfing Chu Feng and the others. Chu Feng felt his vision go black and he lost consciousness.

"Chu Feng!" Pan Yue's exclamation echoed in the darkness... "Wait, these marks..."

In the thick darkness, Chu Feng felt a sharp pain in his chest, and gradually regained consciousness. He struggled to open his eyes and found himself lying on the ground, with Pan Yue anxiously shaking his shoulders.

"Chu Feng, wake up!" Pan Yue's voice trembled slightly.

Chu Feng coughed a few times and struggled to sit up. The black mist around him was still thick, making it difficult to breathe. Captain Zhang and Lin Yao also fell to the ground, seemingly unconscious.

"Captain Zhang, Lin Yao..." Chu Feng struggled to stand up, but found that his body was extremely weak.

"Don't move!" Pan Yue supported Chu Feng. "Wang Xieling's power has been enhanced in this space. We are no match for him."

Chu Feng took a deep breath and tried to remain calm. He looked around, his eyes once again falling on the strange markings on the alley walls that were flickering with faint light.

"Those marks..." Chu Feng pointed at the wall, his voice hoarse, "I feel like they are the key."

Pan Yue also looked at the markings, his brow furrowed. The markings were shaped like twisted runes, their flickering light flickering, seemingly imbued with some mysterious power.

"These marks... I seem to have seen them somewhere..." Pan Yue tried hard to recall, and gestured the shape of the marks in the air with his fingers.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up, as if he had thought of something. "Wait, I remember! These markings are very similar to an ancient evil spirit formation recorded in the headquarters database!"

"Ancient evil spirit formation?" Chu Feng's mind moved. "So, this distorted space was created by Wang Xieling using some kind of formation?"

"It's very possible!" Pan Yue's tone also became excited. "If we can break this formation, maybe we can find a way to leave this space!"

The two of them once again carefully examined the markings on the wall, trying to discern a pattern. The arrangement of the markings seemed chaotic, yet a hint of order was faintly apparent.

"Look," Chu Feng pointed at one of the marks, "the shape of this mark is slightly different from the others. Could it be the key to the formation?"

Pan Yue took a closer look and found that the mark Chu Feng pointed out was indeed slightly different from the other marks. Its light was brighter and its shape was more complex.

"You're right!" Pan Yue's eyes sparkled with excitement. "If this mark is the key to the formation, then..."

Before he could finish his words, Wang Xieling's roar echoed from the darkness again. Black mist rolled in, advancing towards them like a predatory beast.

"Oh no! It's coming again!" Chu Feng clenched the Tang sword in his hand, ready to fight.

At this moment, Pan Yue suddenly thought of something: "Wait! We can ask for help from headquarters!"

"Ask for help?" Chu Feng was stunned. "In this twisted space, can the communication equipment still be used?"

"Try it!" Pan Yue took out a small communication device from his pocket and pressed a button.

The communication device flashed a few times and actually connected to the headquarters!

"Headquarters, this is Pan Yue! We are trapped in a distorted space, requesting support!" Pan Yue's voice was filled with urgency.

"Pan Yue? Where are you? What happened?" The voice from headquarters came from the communication equipment.

"We..." Pan Yue was about to explain the situation in detail when suddenly, a harsh noise came from the communication equipment, and then the signal was lost.

"Damn it!" Pan Yue smashed the communication equipment hard, "The signal is cut off!"

At that moment, Wang Xieling had already approached them, opening his bloody mouth, revealing his sharp fangs, and letting out a deafening roar.

"Looks like I have no choice but to fight to the death!" Chu Feng gritted his teeth, raised his Tang sword, and faced Wang Xieling...

Pan Yue watched Chu Feng rush towards Wang Xieling, a flicker of determination in his eyes. He tried to activate the communication device again and whispered, "I must succeed..."

Wang Xieling's foul breath assaulted Chu Feng's face, making it difficult for him to breathe. He swung his Tang sword, the blade slicing through the air, stirring up a sharp gust of wind, striking Wang Xieling in the face. Wang Xieling let out a sharp roar, waving his claws, deflecting Chu Feng's attack.

At this moment, the communication device in Pan Yue's hand suddenly flashed, and a faint voice came from it: "Pan Yue, can you hear me? This is the headquarters..."

Pan Yue perked up and quickly replied, "I can hear you! Headquarters, we..."

"This distorted space is created by an ancient evil spirit formation. The core of the formation is usually hidden on a special mark. If you find it and destroy it, you can disintegrate the space..." The voice of the headquarters was intermittent, but the information conveyed was crucial.

"A special mark..." Chu Feng quickly scanned the marks on the surrounding walls while fending off Wang Xieling's attacks. The information from headquarters reminded him of the uniquely shaped mark he had noticed before, which glowed brighter and more complex than the other marks.

"Pan Yue, cover me!" Chu Feng shouted, and his figure flashed, rushing towards the special mark.

Pan Yue immediately understood Chu Feng's intention. He waved the weapon in his hand to force back the evil spirits approaching Chu Feng, buying time for Chu Feng.

Wang Xieling seemed to have also noticed Chu Feng's intention. It let out a deafening roar, and the black mist rolled and turned into countless sharp blades, attacking Chu Feng.

Chu Feng gritted his teeth, dodging the attacks nimbly while constantly approaching the special mark. He felt a powerful force emanating from the mark, which made him more convinced that this was the core of the formation.

Finally, Chu Feng arrived in front of the mark. He took a deep breath, raised the Tang sword high, poured all his strength into it, and slashed at the mark fiercely.

"boom!"

With a loud bang, the mark burst into a dazzling light, and the surrounding black mist violently rolled, and the entire space began to vibrate. Wang Xieling let out a shrill scream, and its body began to become illusory, and its strength was significantly weakened.

"Success!" Pan Yue was overjoyed when he saw this and rushed to Chu Feng.

However, at this moment, the vibration of space became more and more violent, and a huge crack suddenly appeared in front of them, with a heart-pounding dark aura surging in the crack.

A hint of madness flashed in Wang Xieling's eyes. He let out a roar and used up his last bit of strength to push Chu Feng and Pan Yue towards the crack.

"Not good!" Captain Zhang and Lin Yao also regained consciousness at this time. When they saw this scene, their faces changed drastically.

Chu Feng and Pan Yue fought hard, but Wang Xieling's power was too strong and they were pushed towards the crack step by step.

"Catch me!" Captain Zhang shouted and stretched out his hand to grab Chu Feng.

Chu Feng stretched out his hand, but only grasped a piece of nothingness... "Captain Zhang..."
