God Slayer: Make Up for the Past
Chapter 32 The Evil Shadow in the Library
The wall behind wasn't a solid wall, but a hidden door. Chu Feng pushed the heavy stone door open slowly, and a chilling air washed over them, accompanied by a nauseating stench of decay. The evil energy emanating from the crack in the door was several times stronger than before, sending chills down Chu Feng and Pan Yue's spines.
"Behind this..." Pan Yue swallowed his saliva, his voice trembling slightly.
Chu Feng didn't say anything, but just clenched the dagger in his hand, his eyes full of vigilance. He pushed the door open carefully, and the scene before them made them both stunned.
Behind the door was a long, narrow passage, its walls covered in strange runes that emitted a faint green light. At the end of the passage lay what appeared to be a larger space, but it was shrouded in a thick black fog, making it impossible to see clearly what was inside.
The two exchanged glances, each seeing a solemn expression in the other's eyes. They advanced slowly along the passage, taking each step with extreme caution. The runes on the wall seemed to flow, emitting an unsettling aura.
Suddenly, Chu Feng stopped. He noticed something moving in the black fog at the end of the passage. The shape of the thing was unclear, but the evil aura it exuded made him feel a surge of anxiety.
"Be careful!" Chu Feng shouted softly and protected Pan Yue behind him.
At this moment, countless black tentacles suddenly extended from the walls on both sides of the passage, wrapping around them like venomous snakes. Chu Feng swung his dagger, cutting off a few tentacles, but more continued to emerge.
"These tentacles... look like some kind of seal." Pan Yue observed the tentacles, his brow furrowed. "If we forcibly destroy them, we might trigger a more dangerous mechanism."
Chu Feng also realized this. He put away his dagger and began to carefully observe the runes on the wall, hoping to find a way to unlock the seal.
Just then, a noisy sound of footsteps could be heard at the library entrance. Teacher Su walked in with an angry-looking Principal Guo, followed by several security guards.
"It's them! Principal, they are the ones who destroyed the library facilities!" Teacher Su pointed at Chu Feng and Pan Yue and shouted loudly.
Principal Guo looked at the two of them gloomily and said sternly, "You two students, why are you running to the library instead of studying in the classroom? And you broke so many things!"
"Principal, we..." Chu Feng was about to explain when he was interrupted by Principal Guo.
"I don't care what your reasons are, get out of here right now! I'll notify your parents and let them handle this!"
Chu Feng's explanation was stuck in his throat, and he felt extremely helpless. He knew that even if he explained, Principal Guo would not believe them.
Just as Principal Guo was about to take them away by force, a voice came from the crowd: "Principal, please wait a moment!"
Several students walked out of the crowd, and one of them stood up and said, "Principal, Chu Feng and the others are protecting the library from evil spirits! We all saw it!"
Principal Guo was stunned. He looked at the students, then at Chu Feng and Pan Yue, and hesitated for a moment.
"Are you... sure?"
Another student stood up and said, "We are sure! We saw with our own eyes that the books turned into monsters, and it was Chu Feng and the others who defeated them!"
More and more students came forward to testify for Chu Feng and Pan Yue, which made Principal Guo even more hesitant.
Chu Feng felt a surge of warmth in his heart as he looked at these students who were willing to speak up for him. He knew that he was not fighting alone.
Pan Yue patted Chu Feng on the shoulder and whispered, "It seems that things are more complicated than we imagined..." His eyes fell on the hidden door and the evil energy that continued to surge out of the crack in the door...
The black fog rolled in and out, as if a giant beast was breathing behind the door. The disgusting stench became stronger, as if mocking the stalemate before them.
More and more students stood up, their voices growing stronger and stronger, eventually forming a torrent that echoed throughout the library. "We all saw it! It was Chu Feng and the others protecting us!"
Chu Feng's gaze swept across the crowd and spotted a familiar figure. It was Li Mengyao, a classmate. Standing at the front of the group, her gaze resolute, she faced Principal Guo fearlessly. Her bright eyes, slightly flushed cheeks, and soft words of encouragement were like a spring breeze caressing Chu Feng's heart. A surge of warmth washed over him, dispelling his previous helplessness and anxiety. He felt an unprecedented strength, solidifying his resolve. He must protect those who believed in him, and this school.
Principal Guo's expression shifted from gloomy to cheerful. He hadn't expected so many students to speak up for Chu Feng. He valued the school's reputation and didn't want to escalate the situation, but he also didn't want to let Chu Feng off easily. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, his eyes flickering as if he were weighing the pros and cons.
Teacher Su stamped her feet anxiously. She pointed at Chu Feng and shrilly said, "Principal, don't listen to their nonsense! They've all been bewitched by Chu Feng! There's definitely something wrong with this kid!"
However, her voice was quickly drowned out by the noise of the students.
At this time, Xiao Baoan came over. He leaned close to Principal Guo's ear and whispered, "Principal, I've seen some strange things before. Maybe what these students said is true..."
Principal Guo's expression darkened. He took a deep breath and tried to remain calm. "Alright," he finally compromised. "I'll investigate this matter thoroughly. Chu Feng, Pan Yue, come with me to my office."
Chu Feng and Pan Yue looked at each other and followed Principal Guo out of the library.
Inside the library, the students gradually dispersed, leaving only Pan Yue behind. He stared intently at the hidden door and the evil energy pouring out from the crack. He felt that things were not that simple, that this evil energy seemed to be calling out for something.
He walked to the door and carefully examined the runes on it. These runes were ancient and complex, emitting a strange power. He reached out and touched the cold stone door, and a thought suddenly flashed through his mind: I seem to have seen these runes somewhere before...
He quickly walked to the ancient books section of the library and began to flip through the long-forgotten books. As time passed, Pan Yue's brow furrowed ever deeper. Suddenly, he flipped open an ancient book, his eyes fixed on a single page, and his pupils suddenly constricted.
"Found it..." He muttered to himself, his fingers trembling as he pointed at the pattern on the page. "This... This is exactly the same as the rune on the door! This door is actually related to the history of the school..."
His eyes fell on a line of small characters that read: "When the sealed door is opened, disaster will come..."
Pan Yue's expression became extremely solemn. He raised his head and looked at the hidden door. A chill ran from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
"Chu Feng..." he whispered, "We might be in big trouble..." He closed the ancient book and walked quickly towards the principal's office. He knew he had to tell Chu Feng about this discovery as soon as possible...
The atmosphere in the principal's office was oppressive. Principal Guo sat behind his desk, his fingers tapping against the surface with a dull clatter. Teacher Su, beside him, exaggerating the "misdeeds" of Chu Feng and Pan Yue, while Chu Feng stood there calmly, saying nothing.
Suddenly, the office door was flung open, and Pan Yue ran in breathlessly, holding a thick ancient book in his hand. "Chu Feng! I found something!"
Pan Yue spread the ancient book on the table and pointed to a page. "Look! The runes here are exactly the same as the ones on the library door! This door is actually related to the history of the school!"
The page depicted an ancient stone door, intricately carved with runes, identical to the one Pan Yue had seen in the library. Below it was a line of small text: "The sealed door, when opened, will bring disaster..."
Chu Feng and Principal Guo both came over and carefully read the contents of the book. Principal Guo's face became even uglier, and he muttered to himself, "The sealed door... could it be..."
"This door seals a powerful evil spirit," Pan Yue said, pointing to another paragraph of text on the page. "Only by finding the correct method to open it can the seal be lifted. However, at the same time, the sealed evil spirit may be released..."
"How to open it..." Chu Feng's eyes fell on an obscure spell on the page, "Perhaps, this is the key to breaking the seal."
They decided to return to the library immediately. This time, even Teacher Su and Principal Guo, who had previously been suspicious of Chu Feng, followed. In the library, the hidden door still exuded an unsettling aura. Following the instructions in the ancient text, Pan Yue began to chant the incantation to open the seal. As he chanted the incantation, the runes on the door began to glow faintly, and a powerful energy wave emanated from within.
Suddenly, several dark figures shot out from the crack in the door and rushed towards Chu Feng and Pan Yue. These figures were twisted and deformed, like ghosts, and exuded a nauseating stench.
"Be careful! It's an evil spirit phantom!" Chu Feng protected Pan Yue behind him, drew out the dagger he carried with him, and rushed forward.
The phantom's attacks were incredibly fast, and each time it struck, it would change form, making it difficult to predict. Chu Feng, with his extensive combat experience and strong will, protected Pan Yue while simultaneously engaging the phantom. He gradually figured out the phantom's attack patterns and began to counterattack.
Pan Yue on the side watched nervously, his hands tightly holding the ancient book, silently praying for Chu Feng's safety in his heart.
After a fierce battle, Chu Feng finally repelled all the phantoms. He stood there panting, his body covered with black evil energy, but his eyes remained firm.
Pan Yue breathed a sigh of relief. He walked over to Chu Feng and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
"It's okay," Chu Feng shook his head, "Let's continue."
Pan Yue continued to chant the spell, and the runes on the door glowed brighter and brighter. Finally, accompanied by a dull sound, the stone door slowly opened.
A powerful evil energy surged out from the door, bringing with it a suffocating sense of oppression. Inside the door, it was pitch black, as if it led to another world.
"It seems that the real challenge has just begun..." Chu Feng clenched the dagger in his hand and looked inside the door with a firm gaze.
Pan Yue's expression became extremely solemn. He felt a powerful evil force awakening...
"Chu Feng..." Pan Yue's voice trembled a little, "Look..." He pointed deep inside the door and his voice stopped abruptly.
