God Slayer: Make Up for the Past
Chapter 30 The Defeat of Evil Spirits
Thick darkness poured down like ink, engulfing everything in the mountain behind. A howling wind blew, sand and rocks flew, and trees, uprooted and wailing, uttered mournful cries. Chu Feng and Pan Yue were caught in this chaos, as if they had fallen into a bottomless abyss. The evil power unleashed by the evil spirit was more than a simple energy shock; it was more like a distortion of reality, blurring the boundaries of space and making it impossible for them to discern their direction or find their target.
"Chu Feng! Where are you?" Pan Yue's voice sounded weak and powerless in the strong wind. He tried hard to see everything around him, but he could only see a vague darkness.
"I'm here!" Chu Feng's voice came from not far away, with a hint of nervousness. "This evil power... is very strange. I can't feel where its core is!"
They stood back to back, looking around warily. In the darkness, countless eyes seemed to be watching them, and a chilling aura coiled around them like a venomous snake, sending shivers down their spines. This evil force wasn't simply destructive; it was more like a form of spiritual pollution, attempting to erode their will and break down their resistance.
Just then, a familiar voice broke the suffocating silence.
"Look at what you have done! My school! My back mountain! What have you done to it!" Principal Guo's exasperated voice came from the edge of the darkness. He held a flashlight in his hand. The light was particularly dim in the darkness, but it illuminated his face that was distorted by anger.
"Principal, now is not the time to talk about this!" Chu Feng shouted anxiously, "We must get rid of this evil spirit first!"
"Solve it? How are you going to solve it? Look around here! You've made a mess of the school! You're a disaster!" Principal Guo pointed at the destroyed back hillside and roared, "I've told you before, you shouldn't be in this school!"
Chu Feng's heart sank suddenly, and a feeling of powerlessness washed over him. He had clearly been trying to protect the school and the students, but in the end, he still had to bear such accusations.
"Chu Feng, leave him alone!" Pan Yue's voice came from behind him, with a hint of determination, "We must concentrate our efforts and find the core of the evil power!"
Chu Feng took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He knew now was not the time to argue; the most urgent task was to defeat He Xieling and save the school. He closed his eyes and tried to sense the energy fluctuations around him, trying to find the source of the evil force.
Suddenly, he sensed something strange. A faint energy wave, hidden in the raging wind, loomed. It was faint, yet incredibly sinister, like a venomous snake lurking in the darkness, waiting for its chance to strike.
He suddenly opened his eyes and looked in one direction. "There!"
Pan Yue also noticed this abnormal energy fluctuation. He quickly adjusted his position, forming a triangle with Chu Feng, locking the energy fluctuation within their encirclement.
"Are you ready?" Chu Feng said in a low voice, with a hint of determination in his eyes.
Pan Yue nodded, his weapon tightly gripped in his hand, his gaze fixed on that direction. In the darkness, a suffocating sense of oppression grew stronger, as if something was about to break out of its cocoon...
"Get started!" Chu Feng shouted...
Chu Feng ignored Principal Guo's rant, his entire focus focused on that faint energy fluctuation. The wind and sand blinded him, but he seemed to peer through the thick fog and see directly into the evil core hidden in the darkness. A glance between him and Pan Yue confirmed their mutual goals. Their tacit understanding was perfect, and they knew their next move without words.
"Three!" Chu Feng roared in the strong wind. His voice was almost swallowed up, but it was clearly heard by Pan Yue.
"Two!" Pan Yue responded, spiritual power surged in his hands, and the light flashed, illuminating his resolute face.
"One!" The last word was almost squeezed out from between Chu Feng's teeth. At the same time, his whole body's spiritual power burst out, like a dazzling beam of light, shooting straight into the sky!
This light tore through the dense darkness, illuminating everything in the back mountain. At the center of the light, a twisted black vortex was spinning madly. It was the core of the evil power!
Chu Feng did not hesitate at all. He concentrated all his strength into one point, turning it into a sharp sword energy that pierced the black vortex!
"boom!"
There was a deafening roar. The sword energy collided with the black vortex, bursting into a dazzling light, like a small sun exploding in the darkness.
"what--"
A shrill scream pierced the night sky. He Xieling's true form was revealed, a hideous monster. Its body had been struck by the sword energy, leaving a huge wound. Black evil energy continuously flowed out of the wound.
"Impossible... How could I..." He Xieling roared in pain, his eyes filled with unwillingness and resentment.
It was unwilling to accept defeat, it hadn't completed its plan yet! It still had one last trump card!
"You...you damn Night Watchmen! I will make you pay the price!" He Xieling let out a hysterical roar, releasing all the remaining evil power and controlling the affected students.
Student Lin and the other controlled students had bloodshot eyes and ferocious faces, and they rushed towards Chu Feng and Pan Yue like puppets.
"Chu Feng, be careful!" Pan Yue stood in front of Chu Feng and looked at the controlled students vigilantly.
Principal Guo was so frightened when he saw this scene that his face turned pale and he collapsed to the ground, muttering: "It's over... It's all over..."
Chu Feng looked at the students who were controlled, his heart filled with anger and regret. He knew that these students were innocent and should not become puppets of evil spirits.
"He Xieling, do you think you can threaten me like this?" Chu Feng's voice was cold and firm. "I will definitely rescue them and make you fail completely!"
He faced the controlled students without fear. He knew that he could not retreat and he had to fight on!
Pan Yue looked at Chu Feng's determined back, a flicker of admiration in his eyes. A strange power began to gather in his hands, and he muttered something... an ancient and mysterious rune, faintly shimmering in the air...
"Chu Feng, hold them back. I..." Pan Yue's words stopped abruptly. He stared intently at the controlled students, the light in his hand growing brighter and brighter...
The light in Pan Yue's hand suddenly burst forth, like the first rays of morning sun, illuminating the entire back mountain. Under the light, the crimson eyes of the controlled students gradually cleared, and their ferocious expressions gradually relaxed. They looked around in confusion, seemingly unable to understand what was happening.
"What... is going on?" Student Lin rubbed his eyes and looked at his hands in confusion.
"I...I seem to have had a nightmare..." another student muttered to himself.
Pan Yue let out a long sigh and explained, "You were controlled by evil spirits, but everything is fine now." He didn't explain too much. These students didn't need to know too much about the Night Watchmen.
Principal Guo got up from the ground and was overjoyed to see that the students had returned to normal. He quickly ran over to the students, asking about their well-being, as if the fear and despair he had just felt had vanished. He didn't even notice Chu Feng and Pan Yue, as if he had forgotten the rejection and questioning he had shown them.
He Xieling panicked upon seeing this. He hadn't expected Pan Yue to be able to break his control spell. With his last resort gone, he fell into complete despair.
"No... Impossible..." He Xieling screamed, "You... You damn Night Watchmen! I... I won't let you go!"
Chu Feng sneered and said, "You no longer have a chance."
The long sword in his hand burned with blazing flames, like the fire of judgment from hell. He walked towards He Xieling step by step, each step filled with strength and determination.
Pan Yue stood aside, his hands condensing sharp wind blades, like a circling falcon, ready to deliver a fatal blow to He Xieling at any moment. His eyes were calm and sharp, like a wise man who saw through everything.
"Ah--" He Xieling let out a desperate roar. He tried to resist, but it was all in vain.
Chu Feng's blazing flames clung to it like a maggot on its tarsal bones, constantly burning away its evil energy. Pan Yue's wind blades, like precise scalpels, sliced through its defenses, leaving it nowhere to hide.
Under the combined attack of the two, He Xieling retreated step by step. Its body gradually disintegrated, and the black evil energy continued to dissipate. Finally, it let out a shrill scream and completely disappeared between heaven and earth.
The sandstorm in the back mountain gradually subsided, and everything returned to calm. Led by Principal Guo, the students left the back mountain. They seemed to have forgotten the terrifying experience just now, and relaxed smiles appeared on their faces.
Xiao Baoan walked up to Chu Feng and Pan Yue and said gratefully, "Thank you, you saved our school."
Chu Feng smiled slightly and said, "This is what we should do."
He watched the students leave with a feeling of deep emotion. He knew that this was just the beginning of his journey as a Night Watchman and that there would be more challenges waiting for him in the future.
Pan Yue patted Chu Feng on the shoulder and said, "Let's go. It's time for us to go back."
The two turned and left the back mountain, disappearing into the night.
The campus returned to calm, the street lights cast a soft light, and everything seemed so peaceful.
Chu Feng suddenly stopped.
"Wait..." he whispered, his eyes fixed on the direction of the back mountain.
He sensed a faint evil aura, a force that was hidden deep within, yet Chu Feng could clearly sense its presence… This evil aura seemed to be… stirring…
