Legend of Mir 2: Seeking the Truth in Marfa
Chapter 8 Alliance Weight
Due to the recent battle, everyone nearby noticed the area and rushed to attack. Brook's name, now blood-red from killing someone, attracted a lot of attention. Then, they noticed the top-notch weaponry in Brook's possession. Everyone was eager to make a move—the red-named death had a very high drop rate.
Xiao Xia Mi took two steps forward and stood in front of Brook, wanting to help him block the red name and also to use his actions to warn everyone not to mess around.
Brook didn't want anyone to know his whereabouts. Even if he needed to use the dungeon teleport scroll, he had to go somewhere where no one could see him. You couldn't buy teleport scrolls from grocers these days, and using it in public would surely arouse suspicion.
What's more, he also wanted to visit Xiaohua for the last time.
So he said to the shrimp fan: "It's not a good place to stay for long. Do you want to continue leveling here?"
"What about you?" Xiao Xia Fan originally wanted to go back to the village and pick up Xiao Jingjing to level up somewhere else. But if Brook didn't leave, he certainly wouldn't leave either.
"I'm going inside." Brooke said towards the depths of the wilderness, "Don't worry about me, I have my own way to break through."
Xiao Xia Fan wanted to warn them about the monsters, but he hesitated. He felt Brook was very powerful, and since Brook said he had a solution, he believed Brook would have a solution. So he said decisively, "Okay. You go first. I'll go back to the village square and meet up with Xiao Jingjing later, and then we'll find another place to level up."
Although they had just met, they had only just begun their interactions, and now they were about to go their separate ways. Under the gaze of the Zhou people, Brook turned and rushed into the wilderness, moving forward amidst the dense swarm of monsters, and soon disappeared from everyone's sight.
Xiao Xia Fan watched Brook's departing back and thought to himself, "See you later, take care, brother." Then he turned around and left this place of trouble in the eyes of everyone, and walked away towards the village entrance.
Soon, some newly arrived warriors from other worlds came to the place where several people had fought. They continued to fight with the monsters and slowly advanced into the wilderness.
Meanwhile, Brook nimbly navigated the monsters. This place was completely untouched, and the monsters were teeming with them. He was constantly attacked, forcing him to drink potions every twenty seconds or so. He didn't dare use healing spells, as they required him to stop, and if he did, he'd be surrounded by monsters. However, potions could be consumed while running. After running for a long time, he finally reached a spot where he'd built a fence for Xiaohua.
Brook stopped and the surrounding monsters immediately surrounded him.
Brook raised his ebony sword and fought back. Was it finally time for him to take on ten monsters alone? Unfortunately, no. Although Brook was surrounded, only eight of the monsters could attack him simultaneously, ultimately failing to fulfill his wish of a one-on-ten fight.
This place was still in the wilderness, and the surrounding monsters were mainly low-powered cats with rakes and toads. Brook was already level 8, so even if he was surrounded, he could handle it with ease.
After more than 10 minutes of killing, they finally cleared out all the monsters in the small area around them. For the time being, no more monsters came forward.
Brooke calmed down, tried to smile, and walked over to Xiaohua. He took out a chicken from his backpack and threw it to her as before.
"Xiaohua, it's me. I'm here to see you..."
"You know, I'm a monk now..."
"This may be the last time I come to see you..."
"If only you could walk, you could leave here with me..."
"Next time someone comes, those people will beat you..."
"Remember to fight back, hit them hard..."
Brooke gently held Xiaohua's big head and spoke one sentence at a time.
Xiaohua didn't understand what Brook said. It thought Brook wanted the fruit again, so it lowered its head and put the fruit on its head in front of Brook so that Brook could pick it.
"Xiaohua, I'm sorry... I can't protect you." Brook finally couldn't hold back his tears. Even if he stayed by Xiaohua's side, even if he was level 8, even if he could defeat three, five, or even more alien warriors, he still couldn't resist the overwhelming crowd.
Brooke picked an unripe fruit from the top of the flower and put it in his backpack.
"Xiaohua, I'm leaving. I'm going to Mengzhong and I'll become a powerful monk. I'll come see you again when I return." Brook wiped away his tears and calmed down. He slowly took out the dungeon teleportation scroll from his backpack, took one last look at Xiaohua, and crushed the scroll.
For a moment, everything went dark, as if I were in an empty, dark space. Then, a flash of light appeared before my eyes, and I was already in the desert. The entire teleportation process took about a second.
Brook immediately became alert. If he was unlucky enough to be teleported into the herd, he would immediately use the random teleportation scroll to escape.
However, the expected herd of beasts was nowhere to be seen. All I could see were bare rocks and sand dunes, a desolate scene. A few armored beetles rattled their heads back and forth, while a few more sandworms slowly moved. The demonic beasts were sparse and could be counted on one hand.
After confirming the surroundings were safe, Brook found a rock to sit on, took out Situ Haoyun's notes from his backpack, and looked through the map. He first needed to confirm his current location.
Mengzhong Province is vast, far exceeding Biqi. As shown on the map, the southwestern region of Mengzhong Province is covered by vast, lush forests, where a passage connects to the Serpent Valley. The northwest is a Death Valley, home to a demonic beast gathering point called the Centipede Cave. In the easternmost part of Mengzhong Province, there is also a sizable forest, deep within which lies a Zuma Temple, currently occupied by demonic beasts. The rest of the province is mostly Gobi desert, interrupted by mountain ranges.
Mengzhong Province consists of two cities: Tucheng and Shabak, located to the left and right of the center of the map, respectively. Separated by mountains, they are quite a distance apart. Hongming Village, located in the southeastern corner of Mengzhong, is also nestled in the Gobi Desert, a considerable distance from both Shabak City and the Zuma Temple.
So where was he currently? The Gobi Desert's terrain made it impossible to determine. He might be near Tucheng in the west, Shabak City in the east, or Hongming Village in the southeast.
Although I currently have plenty of potions in my backpack, I need to identify the location of a supply point. Guli mentioned that Hongming Village is short on supplies and clearly isn't a good place to resupply. So, I need to look for Tucheng or Shabak City.
Brooke thought for a moment and decided to head east. For now, he had no choice but to try. If he encountered a forest, he was in the easternmost part of the country. If he encountered a mountain barrier, he was between the two large cities in the center. If he came across Tucheng or Shabak City directly, that would be the best.
Brook stood up and looked to the east. There happened to be an armored beetle there. He decided to use it as the first sacrifice to enter the alliance.
The Armored Beetle had an attack of 4-10, a defense of 2, a health pool of 50, and a slow movement speed. While the Armored Beetle's attacks were perfectly manageable for a level 8 Brook, its high defense and health pool made it a bit of a struggle. It took Brook 15 seconds to kill it, earning him 37 experience points. Brook also lost over 20 health points, which he recovered with a Heal spell.
Next, try the nearby sandworm. Its attack is higher than the armored beetle's, at 8-11, but its defense is 0. Brook battled it, expecting an easy victory. However, the sandworm, surprisingly, used its spit sand to injure with remarkable accuracy. Although it took only nine seconds to slash it down, earning him 9 experience points, the process was fraught with danger. During the battle, Brook urgently drank a bottle of low-level Golden Wound Medicine. By the time he finally defeated the sandworm, he only had 54 HP left, and he quickly cast two Heal spells to restore it.
It seems that the monsters here really can't be underestimated. Although their attributes are only a few points higher than those of Biqi, they are not easy to deal with.
Or maybe I'm just too weak, Brook thought. After all, I'm only level 8, with 45 HP and an accuracy of 11. I need to level up quickly. One more level will allow me to learn Psychic Combat, which will improve my accuracy. Currently, I have 1314/1700 XP, so I'm almost there.
Brook continued eastward. Although he was no longer harassed by alien warriors or large herds of beasts, he was not at all careless. He would never challenge multiple monsters at once, but would slowly kill them one by one.
Whether it was due to Mengzhong's sparse population or its vastness, the monsters that descended here were numerous, but they didn't gather in large groups. This gave Brook a perfect opportunity to level up. Brook advanced, slaying monsters as he went, and after a little over five minutes, he reached level 5.
Brook retrieved the "Psychic Combat" skill book and used it. However, his attributes didn't improve at all. Currently, his Psychic Combat skill level was only 0, with 0/1000 skill experience. It seemed he needed to raise the skill to level 1 to increase his accuracy. He had expected an immediate stat boost, but Brook was slightly disappointed.
Keep moving forward. Kill the armored beetles and sandworms along the way, as well as the newly appeared Wells bugs and polyhedron bugs.
It was already 6pm, the sun was about to set, but the view was still clear and bright. Ever since the crimson star appeared in the sky, it had emitted a strange red light that enveloped the entire land, making it possible to see even at night, though not as clearly as during the day.
The monsters here pose a certain threat to Brook. Before he finds Tucheng or Shabak City, he probably won't be able to rest well and can only continue to fight.
At the same time, several figures appeared in Hongming Village in Mengzhong Province. They were the bald men who had attacked Brook before.
"Damn, I got tricked by that guy and accidentally ran into the attack range of the big knife guard." I said with embarrassment to the bald man.
"That guy named Bai Yujing is so insidious. Seeing that he couldn't beat us, he deliberately ran towards the guards with big swords." I have an umbrella and look down on the opponent I just fought with.
"Luckily, Big Brother's weapon didn't drop. But everything in our backpacks exploded," Xia Yu Bu Chou said. The three of them had been in Ginkgo Village, leveling up by killing monsters and bullying the newcomers around them. Although they were all dead, they were lucky enough to find quite a few items. Baldy even managed to grab the ebony sword, but I don't know if it was dropped by humans or monsters.
"This damn place, the deserted Red Name Village. The merchant standing over there is such a profiteer. I just talked to him. The variety of things he sells is small, but the prices are twice as high. Now all the medicines are gone, and there is not much money left. What should I do?" I and the three bald men had just been resurrected, and they were still in a state of low health. There was no place to buy medicine. It was very miserable.
"Brother, please be patient for now. According to this map, there is the city of Shabak to the north of here, and there should be merchants there. Our current coordinates are (8600, 6600), and Shabak is near the coordinates (6500, 3500). We will arrive in half an hour if we walk north." I have an umbrella.
"The monsters here are not particularly powerful. The three of us can defeat them together. Let's go to Shabak while fighting monsters." Xia Yu Bu Chou added.
"Then take a break and restore your health before setting off. Remember that Bai Yujing, who tricked us. We will kill him next time. Also, that guy before, Brook, remember them!" I, the bald man, said hatefully.
If Brook could hear their conversation, he would be extremely curious. These three people clearly had a map and knew the specific locations of Red Name Village and Shabak, but Brook had never heard of the word "coordinates".
It seems that these alien warriors have more accurate maps, and perhaps other advanced things.
Maybe you can't even see the world they see.
