Legend of Mir 2: Seeking the Truth in Marfa
Chapter 27 Cloth Shop Owner
Centipede Caves are composed of numerous lava caves. Each cave has its own unique name, and unlike a stone tomb, where the layers are arranged from one to seven, the caves crisscross and intersect. Centipedes are abundant here, so these caves are collectively called Centipede Caves.
The three of them entered the entrance to Centipede Cave, located on the south side of the first floor of the dungeon. The entrance was located at the southernmost end. Not far along the main path, two forks appeared, extending inward in northwest and northeast directions. The cave was deep and extensive. Numerous enormous centipedes crawled about the ground, making a hissing sound that was somewhat eerie. Upon seeing someone enter their territory, they slowly crawled over and attacked.
The centipede has 230 HP, 12-18 Attack, 0 Defense, and 5 Magic Resistance, making it slightly weaker than the boars in the Stone Tomb. Because these monsters have low attack and defense, they're well-suited for leveling in the 20s. Combined with the Taoist's healing abilities, returning to the city for medicine is almost unnecessary. Returning to the city is only necessary when your backpack is full of loot, allowing you to both level up and earn money. The four members of the Invincible Turtles consist of two Taoists and two warriors, so it's no wonder they chose the Centipede Cave for leveling.
The three of them headed north along the northeast fork, killing centipedes along the way. Later, they encountered worms, black evil maggots, jumping bees, pincer worms and other monsters.
"Wait a minute, leave the black evil maggots alone and let me tempt them. You guys fight other things." When Bayin saw the black evil maggots, he began to cast the light of temptation.
"Didn't you get any babies last night?" Brooke asked.
"I did, but they all rebelled later. Luckily they didn't rebel at the same time, or they would have killed me." Bayin said, looking at Brook's skeleton baby. "Your Taoist babies are better, they won't rebel."
"Will a wizard's baby rebel?" Brook asked curiously, "What does rebellion look like? Show me next time."
"What's so interesting about rebellion? Well, it will take about 2 hours for the rebellion to happen." Bayin thought that Brook liked to observe and study, so maybe he could see something.
Ten minutes later, Bayin had already lured five Black Maggots. The three of them, accompanied by two Skeleton Babies and five Maggot Babies, advanced at a breakneck pace. Even the invincible Turtle was a bit unaccustomed to the speed of clearing monsters, even faster than the four of them.
The three of them passed through a wide area and met several alien warriors who were leveling up there. When they saw the three people's army of babies, especially Bayin's five black wheel-like evil maggot babies, they all hid aside and made way for the big guys with practical actions.
"Oh my god, level 26! Wand, demon robes, everything is top-notch! That wizard with the black evil maggots is so powerful, and she's a woman!"
"Did you see that Taoist priest's skeleton? It's dark blue, a level 7 skeleton! Our boss is level 24, and he only has a level 5 skeleton."
These people were quietly discussing Bayin and Brook's babies and their levels. Bayin and his companions ignored them and continued walking forward.
After more than half an hour, the cave road made a 90-degree turn and turned to the west. There were more monsters here, densely packed. Bayin directly set up a wall of fire. With the cooperation of the fire wall and the babies, a large number of centipedes fell. Bayin's evil maggot babies can also be upgraded. Many of them have turned light blue or darker blue, and their movement speed and attack power are higher than before. Brook used telepathy to explore these evil maggot babies from time to time. If the baby's health is low, he will use healing to help them recover. His own level 7 skeleton Xiaobai didn't need much care. Xiaobai had high defense and fast health recovery speed. He could almost walk sideways in the centipede group.
"A little further ahead is the stone coffin house. We usually level up nearby." The invincible turtle had already reached his destination.
"This place is pretty good. There are a lot of monsters. But there are few people, so no one will compete with you for the monsters." Brook said.
"Don't be fooled by the fact that we only encountered a few people just now. That's because it's early in the morning, not even six yet. During the day, there are quite a lot of people here. But the monsters spawn pretty quickly, too," the Divine Turtle explained. The alien warriors have been arriving for several days now. The first group to arrive are already over level 6, and the second group is around level 22. For warriors and Taoists, the Centipede Cave is a great place to level up.
"So you are leveling up here now?" Brook asked.
"Yes. You go into the sarcophagus house first, and when you come out you will be at the north of the first floor of the dungeon; then keep walking towards the southwest, and you will see the amethyst house." The divine turtle told the two the direction, and he would not go the rest of the way.
"Okay, I'll come to you again when I have the chance, and I may need your help." Brook had a plan. When he went to the Zuma Temple in the future, he wanted to ask the four turtles for help.
"You two still need help? You're both so powerful." The Ninja Turtle thought Brook was just being polite.
"Well, it will take some time. I hope you won't refuse then." Brooke said with a smile.
"We'll see when the time comes." The Divine Turtle remained silent. If something really happened, the four of them would have to discuss it.
After walking a little further, they finally found a cave entrance. After saying goodbye to the insatiable turtle, Brook and the others turned and entered. Inside was a small room, devoid of any demonic beasts, only a rocky outcrop resembling a coffin. If there were too many demonic beasts outside, this would be a good place to rest.
The two exited the sarcophagus room from another exit and entered the dungeon's first floor, north. This floor was much smaller than the south floor, and the monsters were similar to centipedes and pincer worms. The monsters only dropped equipment around level 10 or 20, not as good as the wild boars in the stone tomb. Brook and Bayin showed no interest in these monsters and quickly advanced. After 20 minutes, they reached the southwest corner, where there was an entrance, and they entered.
This was a cave room filled with crystals. It wasn't large, but the most striking feature was the clusters of crystals protruding from the center. These clusters, more than a meter tall and a pale purple-red, resembled blossoming flowers. Silvery-white crystals also grew in the corners and on the stone walls of the cave. A bonfire burned in the room, its light shimmering on the crystals, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
There were two other people in the room. One stood near the central purple crystal, the other near the edge of the room. It was the cloth shop owner they were looking for. Bayin approached him and said, "Dear cloth shop owner, I am Bayin, a monk from Mafa. I met your daughter, the owner of the clothing shop, inside the Tucheng Stone Tomb. She asked me to say hello to you."
"Hello, respected Brother Mafa. I haven't seen my daughter for many days. Is she doing well in the stone tomb?" asked the cloth shop owner.
"She...she is safe now, but she hasn't made any money yet." Bayin remembered that the pharmacy owner had promised to return the backpack and promised not to disclose the fact that they played dice, so he had to avoid the main point and speak lightly.
"As long as she's safe, the amount of money is just a small matter." The cloth shop owner was very pleased. "I'm so grateful that you made a special trip to tell me my daughter is safe."
"You're welcome. I'm friends with your daughter, so it's my duty to deliver her message," Bayin replied. Sure enough, there was no reward for this task, just a verbal expression of gratitude. Bayin was about to turn and leave when he heard the cloth shop owner speak again.
"Since you are my daughter's friend, there is something I can tell you. Do you know that clothing manufacturers in the Marfa continent can only make mid-level clothing such as magic robes and heavy armor so far? If you want to make high-level clothing such as demon robes and war god armor, you need harder materials. I was ordered to come to the Centipede Cave this time to conduct research and investigation." The cloth shop owner told some secrets of clothing making.
"I collected some pincer worm shells. Unfortunately, although they are relatively hard, they still cannot meet the requirements of high-grade clothing. I heard that deeper in the Centipede Cave, there is a monster called the Evil Pincer Worm. They have harder silver shells, which may be the material we manufacturers have been looking for." The cloth shop owner continued.
"So, venerable Marfa monk Bayin, would you be willing to help me collect the shells of the evil pincer worms? This is a dangerous task, but if you can complete it, I will reward you handsomely."
"Can you tell me what the reward is in advance?" Bayin seemed to have thought of something and asked directly about the reward. You know, asking this is very impolite.
"Oh, I didn't expect you to ask that. Well, I can tell you in advance that the reward is a pair of three-eye bracelets." The cloth shop owner replied.
"Can I choose other rewards?" Bayin said.
"You don't like it? This pair of three-eyed bracelets is made of extremely precious materials. They are a one-of-a-kind treasure, and I'm afraid there won't be any more. I've made countless clothes and gloves, but this pair of three-eyed bracelets is my most satisfying work." It's not surprising that the cloth shop owner can make bracelets. You know, gloves are also a product of the clothing store. In the clothing store, you can buy helmets, clothes, and gloves.
"Excuse me, do you have a backpack with a lot of space?" It turned out that Bayin had always wanted a big backpack like Brooke's, so she thought that maybe the owner of the cloth shop would have such a backpack.
"Oh? Well~ Actually, every merchant will get an extra-large space backpack, but only merchants can have it. I'm sorry..." The cloth shop owner couldn't possibly give the Bayin merchant a backpack, he only had one.
"It doesn't have to be that big, just bigger than the normal 48-square space."
"Oh, I understand what you mean. With my ability, I can make a backpack with 96 spaces." said the cloth shop owner.
"Really? Then I'll choose this backpack reward." Bayin said happily.
"Yes. I have made several similar backpacks before, and gave them to my friends as gifts when I was traveling in the continent of Marfa. Give me half a day and I can finish it." It is very likely that the backpack that Ginkgo Village Chief gave to Brook was made by the cloth shop owner.
Brooke, standing nearby, jumped out and respectfully addressed the cloth shop owner, "Dear cloth shop owner, respected master, I am Brooke, a Marfa monk. I actually know your daughter, and like Bayin, I'm a good friend of your daughter's. I'm also very willing to look for the evil pincer worms. I'm a Taoist priest, and I really like the three-eyed bracelet you made. To this end, I'm willing to collect the shells of 10, no, 20, evil pincer worms, just so that Bayin and I can take on your mission together."
The cloth shop owner was stunned, then looked at Bayin with a probing look, obviously wanting Bayin to confirm whether what Brooke said was true.
"Yes, respected cloth shop owner, this Brooke and I were on an adventure together in the Stone Tomb. Together we found your daughter. Moreover, your daughter repaired our clothes. We are all very grateful to her."
The cloth shop owner nodded and said, "Okay. Respected Marfa monks Bayin and Brooke, would you be willing to help me collect the shells of the evil claw worms? If you can collect 20 or more, I will give you a generous reward."
Bayinbuluke said together: "We are willing."
It was really surprising that the father of the owner of the Stone Tomb clothing store, the owner of the Amethyst House cloth shop, was actually a hidden master of clothing manufacturing.
The mission, which they originally thought would have no reward, actually gave them a big surprise.
Accidents and surprises always go hand in hand, and it feels good.
