Hidden truth, intricate love
Chapter 4 Hidden Clues
As the morning sun filtered through the windows of the Sena Building, illuminating Su Wanqing's desk, it failed to dispel the gloom that lingered within her. On her first day at work, she entered this building, a symbol of power and wealth, with mixed emotions. Her father, once a powerful figure in the business world, ultimately fell from grace due to the machinations of the Gu family. Today, she will journey into the heart of this family and begin her journey of revenge.
Su Wanqing had just finished tidying up her workbench when she heard hearty laughter outside. She looked up and saw a well-dressed, calm woman named Nana standing in front of Gu Beichen's office. Nana was dressed in a sharp suit, her well-tailored attire accentuating her sophisticated and capable image. Her short hair was neatly combed, and her eyes shone with a sharp gleam.
Nana, the daughter of the CEO of Yaohui Group, has a certain status and influence in the Sena Building. Due to her work relationship, she has frequent contact with Gu Beichen, and the two have close business cooperation, which gives her the opportunity to get a deeper understanding of Gu Beichen's ability and charm.
Nana has a deep affection for Gu Beichen. She is drawn to his talent, leadership, and appearance. She believes he is her ideal partner, someone who can work alongside her and face business challenges together. Nana has demonstrated her support and trust in Gu Beichen on numerous occasions, her actions and words full of admiration and reliance on him.
However, Gu Beichen's feelings for Nana are more complicated. He values their partnership because of her background and abilities. As a shrewd businessman, Gu Beichen knows that maintaining a good relationship with Nana will greatly benefit his career. Therefore, he superficially reciprocates Nana's feelings in order to maintain their partnership.
"Beichen, don't forget the business negotiation tonight." Nana's voice was firm and powerful, as if it could penetrate people's hearts. She gently patted Gu Beichen's shoulder, held Gu Beichen's hand tightly with both hands, and her eyes were full of trust.
Gu Beichen seemed accustomed to this kind of trust. He nodded slightly, leaned close to Nana's ear, and whispered softly, "Of course. How could I forget such an important thing? We must win this project tonight."
Nana's eyes swept over Su Wanqing with a subtle hint of contempt. She stopped and looked at the new special assistant coldly.
"Are you the new assistant?" There was a hint of disdain in Nana's voice, as if she was questioning whether Su Wanqing was qualified to stand in this building.
Su Wanqing stopped, raised her head, looked directly into Nana's eyes, and replied, "Yes, I'm Su Wanqing. I just arrived today. If there's anything I need help with, please feel free to let me know."
Nana raised her eyebrows slightly, as if surprised by Su Wanqing's composure. She chuckled and said, "Help? I think you should familiarize yourself with the environment here first. The Senna Building is not a place for ordinary people to stay."
Su Wanqing smiled faintly, unfazed by Nana's sarcasm. She knew she couldn't show any weakness in this place full of intrigue and struggle. "I'll get used to it as soon as possible. Thanks for the reminder," she replied politely but firmly.
Nana didn't say anything else, just snorted softly and turned away. Su Wanqing looked at her back and secretly made up her mind that she would not be looked down upon by anyone, nor would she let anyone stand in her way of revenge.
Su Wanqing felt an unprecedented challenge and pressure. She could almost imagine the shrewdness and cunning of Gu Beichen and Nana at the negotiation table. The hatred in her heart burned like a flame doused with oil, growing stronger and stronger. She hated Gu Beichen and everyone in this family. She imagined them enjoying the pleasure of power and wealth while her father lost his life to the Gu family's conspiracy. Her father and mother left her when she was so young. She wanted them to pay for their blood debt and for everything they had done to her father.
Su Wanqing began her work by deliberately approaching Gu Beichen's team members, trying to extract information from them. However, she soon discovered that this was much more difficult than she had imagined. Gu Beichen's team members were all carefully selected elites. They kept a wary distance from Su Wanqing, a newcomer, and answered every one of her questions with impeccable answers.
Su Wanqing walked into the conference room, her eyes searching for a suitable spot. She chose a corner by the window, where she could observe the entire team without being too conspicuous. Gu Beichen sat at one end of the conference table, his eyes scanning everyone before finally settling on Su Wanqing.
Gu Beichen: "Today we are discussing the new project that is about to be launched. Su Wanqing, as a new member, what are your thoughts?"
Su Wanqing: "I think we can use market segmentation to more accurately target customers, which can increase our market penetration."
Su Wanqing's suggestion received nods from some colleagues, but more were met with looks of suspicion and distrust. She knew she needed more time to prove herself.
At lunchtime, Su Wanqing walked to the staff cafeteria with her packed lunch. She noticed several team members sitting around a table and walked over with a smile.
Su Wanqing: "Hi, can I join you?"
My colleagues said, “Of course, but we may have to finish eating quickly today because we have a lot of things to deal with in the afternoon.”
Su Wanqing sat down and tried to join their conversation, but soon found that her colleagues were not interested in her topic and some even deliberately avoided it.
During a project discussion, Su Wanqing again offered her insights: "Based on the data I've collected, if we can adjust the product's features to meet the needs of specific customer groups, we might see unexpected results."
One of my colleagues said, “That sounds great, but we already have a mature product line. Changes could be risky.”
Despite her colleagues' reservations about her proposal, Su Wanqing did not give up. She insisted on her point of view and provided more data to support it.
Su Wanqing noticed that Gu Beichen's team often worked overtime until late, so she decided to stay, hoping to gain recognition from her colleagues through her efforts.
Su Wanqing: "I see everyone is working overtime. If you need help, I can stay."
My colleague said, "No, thank you. We have enough staff here."
Although she was politely declined, Su Wanqing did not leave immediately, but continued to work at her workstation until late at night.
Su Wanqing realized that in order to fit in, she needed to find common ground with her colleagues, so she began to try to communicate with them privately outside of work.
Su Wanqing: "I noticed that you are very interested in technology X, and I have been researching this field as well. Can we exchange ideas?"
The colleague said, "Oh, yes, I'm very interested in that. But I might be a little busy right now, so we can talk about it another time."
Although her colleagues were somewhat reserved about approaching her, Su Wanqing did not give up. She knew that breaking down their defenses would take time and patience, and she also needed to demonstrate her own value and ability.
She tried to join their conversations and try to fit into their circle, but every time it was in vain. She felt more isolated and frustrated than ever before, and every day's work was like climbing an endless mountain.
As time went on, Su Wanqing found herself facing increasing difficulties. The more clues she couldn't find, the deeper her hatred for the Gu family grew. She began working late into the night, poring over the company's historical archives, trying to find any clues, but she always failed.
As the night deepened, the lights in the office building gradually dimmed, leaving only Su Wanqing's office still lit. She sat at her computer, facing piles of densely packed data and documents, but her thoughts drifted far away.
She thought of her father, his kind smile and words of encouragement. Her heart was filled with pain and anger. She couldn't let her father's death go unexplained. She took a deep breath, wiped away the tears, and returned to her work.
Su Wanqing knew that this struggle had just begun, and she couldn't give up. She needed more patience and wisdom, and needed to find the right opportunities and methods. Her fingers tapped lightly on the keyboard, and she began to formulate her next plan.
She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. The pain kept her awake. She couldn't let her emotions cloud her judgment. She would deal with everyone who stood in her way. She needed to calm down, to make a plan, to find the clue that would get her closer to the truth.
As night fell, the lights in the living room were soft and warm. Gu Beichen stood by the window, gazing at the night view outside, while Nana sat on the sofa, playing with a glass of red wine in her hands.
"Beichen, you seem a little absent-minded tonight. Is it because of the new assistant?"
"Oh, Su Wanqing? She's just a new assistant, nothing special. You don't have to care."
"I think she's no ordinary person. There's a fierceness hidden in her eyes. Are you sure she's just here to work?"
Gu Beichen sighed softly and walked over to sit next to Nana. "No matter what her intentions are, I won't let her affect us. You should know that I am full of confidence in our joint project."
"Really? Then I have to prepare well for your business negotiation tonight and make you proud of me in front of everyone."
Gu Beichen stroked Nana's shoulder gently: "Of course, the focus tonight can only be us. However, I hope you can pay a little attention to Su Wanqing, she may become a problem for us."
"Trouble? I want to see what kind of trouble she can stir up. But don't forget, I'm not someone you can easily mess with."
Gu Beichen looked at Nana seriously. "I know you can always handle everything. But this time, I hope you can be more cautious. Su Wanqing's father was once our opponent, and she may not give up."
"Hmph, what can a loser's daughter do? I'll let her know that this is not a place for her to run wild."
Gu Beichen nodded: "That's good. Remember, our goals are the same, don't let any external factors interfere with us."
Nana snuggled up to Gu Beichen: "Don't worry, Beichen. I will help you take care of everything, just like I always have."
Gu Beichen gently patted Nana's shoulder, but where Nana couldn't see, his eyes were very sharp...
