Hidden truth, intricate love

Chapter 3 First Encounter with Fengyun

Li Hua, the HR manager, was already sitting behind the interview table, waiting. He was wearing a dark blue suit and a neatly tied tie, and his eyes behind his glasses revealed a subtle sharpness.

"Ms. Su, please sit down." Li Hua gestured for her to sit on the chair opposite.

Su Wanqing nodded in thanks, sitting elegantly and confidently. Although her heart was turbulent, her years of business negotiation experience had taught her how to control her emotions and keep them from her opponent's attention.

Li Hua began flipping through her resume, nodding as he read. "Harvard Business School graduate, international investment banking experience, and involvement in major projects... Miss Su, your background is impressive."

"Thank you for your recognition, Manager Li. I have always been committed to pursuing excellence in the business field." Su Wanqing answered neither humbly nor arrogantly.

Li Hua raised his head and looked directly at Su Wanqing through his glasses. "In your resume, you mentioned your father's influence on you. Can you talk more specifically about how he influenced your career choices and values?"

Su Wanqing paused slightly. This was a question she had anticipated, yet every time she mentioned it, a pang of pain still lingered in her heart. She took a deep breath, a barely perceptible tremor in her voice.

“My father was an outstanding businessman who taught me integrity, hard work, and the pursuit of excellence. He always said that business is not just about transactions, but also about building trust and responsibility. His teachings have always guided me throughout my career.”

Li Hua nodded slightly, seeming satisfied with Su Wanqing's answer. "Ms. Su, your answer is very insightful. But we also understand that your father unfortunately suffered a business failure. How has this affected you?"

A cold look flashed across Su Wanqing's eyes. She knew the meaning behind the question. She took a deep breath, calmed herself, and then answered calmly.

“My father’s experience made me realize that the business world is full of uncertainties and challenges. Instead of holding me back, this has inspired me to face difficulties and pursue truth and justice.”

Li Hua looked at Su Wanqing, as if assessing the truthfulness of her words. After a moment, he continued his questioning.

“As Mr. Gu’s special assistant, you will be directly involved in the company’s core operations. What do you consider to be your greatest strength?”

Su Wanqing smiled slightly. This was the question she was most prepared for.

“I believe my greatest strengths are my analytical and problem-solving abilities. My studies at Harvard Business School and my experience working in investment banking have taught me how to make quick judgments and develop effective strategies in complex situations. I believe these abilities will enable me to play an important role in my assistant position.”

The interview lasted for nearly an hour. Li Hua asked many in-depth questions, ranging from professional knowledge to scenario simulations. Su Wanqing answered them one by one, demonstrating her professionalism and adaptability.

At the end of the interview, Li Hua stood up and extended his hand to Su Wanqing.

"Ms. Su, thank you for coming today. We are deeply impressed by your professionalism. We will inform you of the interview results within a week."

Su Wanqing shook his hand and said with a smile, "Thank you, Manager Li. I look forward to becoming a member of the Gu Group and contributing my strength to the company."

Leaving the HR department, Su Wanqing felt a mixture of emotions. She knew this was only the first step, and that even more difficult challenges lay ahead. She had to get closer to Gu Beichen, understand him, grasp his weaknesses, uncover the truth behind her father's death, and avenge his reputation.

A week later, Su Wanqing received an offer from the Gu Group. She was appointed Gu Beichen's special assistant, a position that filled her with both excitement and nervousness. She knew she was about to enter a completely new battlefield, and her opponent was Gu Beichen, known in the business world for his ruthlessness and shrewdness.

When she first walked into Gu Beichen's office, she felt an unprecedented nervousness and excitement. Gu Beichen stood in front of the large French window, his back to her, looking out at the scenery. His back was tall and lonely, giving people a sense of inaccessibility.

Hearing Su Wanqing's footsteps, he slowly turned around and looked at her with deep eyes. "Su Wanqing, welcome to the Gu Group." His voice was low and powerful, with an unquestionable authority.

Su Wanqing met his gaze, her voice calm and firm: "Thank you, Mr. Gu. I will do my best and will not let you down."

Gu Beichen nodded, his gaze lingering on Su Wanqing for a moment longer. "I've read your resume. Your background and abilities are both excellent. But I need not only ability, but also loyalty."

Su Wanqing's heart tightened, knowing this was Gu Beichen's first attempt to test her. She met his gaze, unflinching, "Mr. Gu, my loyalty to the Gu Group is unquestionable."

Gu Beichen's lips curled up slightly, revealing an elusive smile. "Very good. I hope your joining can bring new vitality to the Gu Group."

Su Wanqing nodded slightly, feeling an indescribable pressure, yet also a thrill of challenge. She knew that from this moment on, she would begin her struggle against Gu Beichen, the head of the Gu family, in a contest of wits and courage. Her heart was filled with mixed emotions, the flames of revenge burning within her, and she yearned to make those who had betrayed her father pay the price.

In Gu Beichen's office, their eyes met in the air, as if it was the beginning of a war without gunpowder. Su Wanqing's heart was filled with determination. She would use her wisdom and courage to uncover the secrets of the Gu Group and fight for her father's honor.
