Years turn into wind

After a few days of peace, Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian gradually returned to their ordinary lives in Jiangnan. Ling Xiaotian remained by her side, helping her run the pharmacy and handling daily chores. Their tacit understanding grew deeper with each passing day. However, they had no idea that a greater conspiracy was quietly approaching, unnoticed by them.

One day, Cheng Yuwei returned to her courtyard after purchasing medicinal herbs in town. Just as she was about to enter, she heard faint footsteps behind her. The man smiled slightly and whispered, "Miss Cheng, don't worry. I'm here to protect you."

The man didn't answer directly, but bowed his head and whispered, "Please believe me, I mean no harm. It's just that the situation in Jiangnan is unstable, and someone is worried about your and Ling Shuai's safety, so they sent me here to protect you."

Cheng Yuwei looked at him suspiciously, feeling vaguely that he seemed to know something. She didn't expose him for the time being, but smiled calmly and said, "In that case, thank you for your help." Then she turned and went back into the house.

Suddenly, the man seemed to sense his presence and quickly quickened his pace. Ling Xiaotian snorted coldly, signaling his secret guards to follow him. He then left the pharmacy with Cheng Yuwei and returned to the courtyard to await further news.

Late at night, the secret guard returned and reported in a low voice: "Marshal, that man is indeed unusual. He is a spy sent by a southern warlord, and it seems that northern forces are involved behind the scenes. They are planning a large-scale assassination operation, and the target is you and Miss Cheng."
