Years turn into wind

Chapter 30: Conspiracy Reversal

Lu Zhirou looked at the secret letter, her lips curled up slightly. She thought her plan had worked, the trust between Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian was about to collapse, and victory seemed within reach. She stood by the window, arms folded, imagining herself standing beside Ling Xiaotian in the future.

But she never expected that at this moment in the Marshal's Mansion, Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian had already begun to take action to counter the enemy's conspiracy.

Cheng Yuwei sat in her study, spread out before her were several forged letters. She looked at them and sneered, "The enemy truly underestimated our intelligence. Since they want to spread rumors with forged letters, I'll show them what true counter-espionage means."

Ling Xiaotian stood beside her, his brow furrowed. "Your plan is feasible, but you must grasp the timing. Lu Sheng's spy organization has already infiltrated our army. If we are careless, all our efforts will be wasted."

Cheng Yuwei nodded, a determined glint in her eyes. "I've arranged everything. As long as we act according to plan, Lu Sheng's spy network will surely suffer the consequences."

Their plan was to use these forged letters to set a trap, making Lu Sheng's spies mistakenly believe that their plan was successful, thereby luring out those hidden accomplices.

That night, Cheng Yuwei pretended to be anxious and handed a "confidential" letter to Ling Xiaotian. The content of the letter was exactly the false intelligence they had designed in advance, deliberately spreading false news, saying that Ling Xiaotian had begun to doubt her and was preparing to send her back to the rear.

This false information was quickly intercepted by spies lurking in secret, and the spies quickly passed the news back to Lu Zhirou and Lu Sheng.

Meanwhile, Lu Zhirou was filled with joy, ready to see the plan succeed. She never doubted that Cheng Yuwei would be easily defeated; after all, she was confident that she was Ling Xiaotian's best choice. To ensure the success of this operation, Lu Zhirou decided to personally oversee the operation.

A few days later, she arranged a "chance encounter" and pretended to visit Ling Xiaotian, but she ran into Cheng Yuwei on the road. She walked up to him with a smile, a hint of provocation in her eyes: "Sister Wei, I heard that you were in a bad mood recently, so I came to see you."

Cheng Yuwei looked at her smiling face. She knew the conspiracy in her heart, but she remained calm. "Thank you for your concern. There are indeed some things that bother me recently, but it's nothing serious."

Lu Zhirou seemed to see through her thoughts and sighed deliberately: "Hey, Sister Wei, you are the most important person around Brother Xiaotian. You can't let those rumors affect the relationship between you two."

Cheng Yuwei sneered inwardly, but remained calm and said, "How can the relationship between us be shaken by those rumors from the outside world? However, some people do use these rumors to do some dishonorable things."

Although her tone was calm, the warning was self-evident. Lu Zhirou heard the hidden meaning and her face changed slightly, but she quickly regained her smile. "Yes, those rumors are really abominable. Sister Wei, please don't take them to heart."

A few days later, the Marshal's residence was in a state of panic. Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian's counter-espionage plan had begun to show results, successfully misleading the enemy into believing that the trust between Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian had begun to crack.

Meanwhile, Ling Xiaotian's men quietly tracked and targeted several suspicious individuals. As they expected, these individuals turned out to be spies within the army, waiting for an opportunity to strike a fatal blow at a critical moment.

Ling Xiaotian's eyes grew colder. "Since these people dare to lurk around us, we must make them pay the price."

Cheng Yuwei nodded: "But we can't alert the enemy. We have to wait until they reveal more clues."

They decided to release a more "critical" piece of false intelligence, pretending that there was a major secret leak within the military, and pretending to make the spies believe that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

These false information eventually fell into the hands of Lu Sheng's spies, and those who had been lurking for a long time finally couldn't hold back and prepared to take action.

A few days later, Ling Xiaotian convened a large-scale military meeting, claiming to have important strategic adjustments to announce. The spies, believing this was their chance to strike, began secretly preparing, but they had no idea that the meeting was a trap set for them.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ling Xiaotian had Cheng Yuwei show a forged confidential letter, deliberately making the spies think that this was an opportunity to leak information. Those who had already been exposed began to try to pass on the information through various means.

However, just as they were about to take action, Ling Xiaotian's guards, who had been lying in ambush for a long time, suddenly appeared and captured these spies one by one.

"Do you really think this information is true?" Ling Xiaotian looked at the spies coldly, his eyes full of contempt.

The captured spies looked pale as death. They finally realized that they had fallen into an elaborate trap.

At the same time, Lu Zhirou received a secret report in the villa and learned that all the spies she had arranged were arrested. Her face turned pale instantly.

"Impossible! How could they..." She clenched the teacup in her hand, feeling extremely uneasy.

Lu Zhirou realized that her plan had completely failed and might even expose her relationship with Lu Sheng. She hurriedly gathered her men to conspire and try to come up with a countermeasure.

Inside the Marshal's Mansion, Cheng Yuwei and Ling Xiaotian stood side by side in the study, looking at the night outside the window.

"This operation can be considered a success." Cheng Yuwei said softly, with a hint of fatigue in her tone.

Ling Xiaotian nodded, walked over to her, and put his arm around her shoulders: "Yes, the spy network has been destroyed. Next we only need to deal with Lu Zhirou and Lu Sheng."

Cheng Yuwei leaned on his shoulder and sighed softly: "The enemy is in the dark, we are in the light, and we don't know what dangers will come in the future."

Ling Xiaotian looked down at her, his voice gentle but firm: "No matter what danger there is, I will be by your side."

Cheng Yuwei looked up at him, her eyes moved: "I believe you."

The two of them stared at each other for a moment, as if at this moment, the war and conspiracy were all left behind. Ling Xiaotian lowered his head and gently kissed her forehead, his love for her growing deeper.

However, just as they were enjoying a moment of peace, they heard hurried footsteps in the distance. The adjutant hurried into the study, his expression tense, "Marshal, we've detected new activity."

"Speak." Ling Xiaotian's eyes flashed, and he instantly regained his calm appearance as a commander.

The adjutant whispered, "According to our investigation, Lu Sheng seems to have learned of our actions and is preparing a new conspiracy."

Ling Xiaotian frowned: "It seems we need to prepare earlier."

Cheng Yuwei nodded calmly: "Since they have a new conspiracy, let us continue to set new traps for them."

The storm is approaching again, and this time, they not only have to face Lu Sheng, but also have to completely eliminate every enemy lurking around them.
