Chapter 36: Struggle in Despair and the Dawn of Hope
In that enigmatic space, Ye Wuhen felt as if he were trapped in a nightmare where illusion and reality intertwined. Light and shadows continued to flicker and dance around him, like a group of mischievous spirits luring him deeper into the unknown. Strange patterns on the walls continued to spread, like an ancient scroll slowly unfolding before his eyes. Huge monsters, with bared fangs and claws, fought fiercely with warriors clad in ornate and bizarre armor, and blood seemed to gush from the painting. Mysterious magicians waved their staffs, unleashing magical light as dazzling as an exploding sun. Every detail was vivid, as if telling a tragic history forgotten by time.
Ye Wuhen's brows were tightly furrowed, his deep eyes filled with confusion and concentration. "What do these weird talismans mean? What on earth do they have to do with the mess we're in now?" He cursed in a low voice, the irritation in his heart like a volcano about to erupt. He couldn't help but reach out and touch the wall, trying to find a clue from the cold touch. Suddenly, a blinding electric current shot out from the wall, like a ferocious venomous snake, and instantly spread along his arm throughout his body. "Ah!" Ye Wuhen screamed in pain, his body thrown back fiercely like a torn sack. He fell heavily to the ground, and it took him a long time to recover. "Humph, you want to trap me? No way!" He gritted his teeth, an unyielding fire burning in his eyes, and struggled to get up.
At the same moment, Lin Xiaoxiao felt like a fragile leaf, drawn into a never-ending vortex of darkness. A despairingly powerful force, like a hungry glutton, devoured her consciousness. The little fox leaped around her, emitting shrill cries that were especially piercing in this eerie space. It nudged Lin Xiaoxiao with its tiny body, trying to awaken its master. Lin Xiaoxiao's mind flashed through memories of her time with Bai Zhi and Lin Yu. Those days of laughter and passionate adventure, like tiny stars in the darkness, gave her a glimmer of resistance. "I can't be swallowed like this! I have to find the spiritual herb with them. I have to keep going!" Lin Xiaoxiao bit her lip until it bled, using all her strength to stubbornly resist the suction that threatened to drag her into the abyss.
On another battlefield, Lin Yu and Bai Zhi were trapped. Monsters surged in like a tide, surrounding them impenetrably. The encirclement shrank, the pressure like an invisible wall, threatening to crush them. The monsters' attacks were as fierce as a storm, each bite and each swipe of their claws carrying a deadly threat. Lin Yu's body was covered in wounds, blood flowing from his wounds like streams, staining his clothes red. But he remained like a raging lion, his eyes blazing with fury, his sword wielding with unwavering vigor. "You beasts, come on if you dare! I, your grandpa, will fight you to the death today!" Lin Yu roared, his voice echoing across the bloody battlefield, every word filled with strength and unyielding determination. His sword, stained with the blood and flesh of the monsters, carried a pungent, fishy smell in the mist.
Bai Zhi had also tried her best. Her once fair face was now completely bloodless, with beads of sweat rolling down her forehead. But her eyes were as firm as a rock, and she showed no sign of retreating. "Power of light, obey my call and dispel this endless darkness!" Bai Zhi raised her staff high and shouted loudly with all her spiritual power. In an instant, a dazzling light like the sun shot out from the top of the staff, like a blazing blade, temporarily forcing back some of the surrounding monsters. "Lin Yu, we can't be trapped here. We have to find a way to rush out quickly. Xiao Xiao is still waiting for us!" Bai Zhi shouted anxiously to Lin Yu, with a hint of tears in her voice.
"I know. Follow me closely, and don't fall behind!" Lin Yu responded, his gaze sharp as a hawk's, searching for a chance to break through the swarm of monsters. Finally, he spotted a direction with relatively few monsters, a ray of light in the darkness. "Now, charge!" Lin Yu shouted, and charged in that direction first.
Elsewhere in the forest, the family's rescue team was caught in a sudden disaster. They had accidentally triggered a hidden magic circle. Suddenly, the surrounding trees, as if possessed by a demon, lashed out with thick branches like countless giant whips, whipping them fiercely. "Oh my god! What the hell is this?" one of the team members cried out in terror, his voice drowned out by the whistling wind and the crackle of branches lashing the air. The elder, his expression as solemn as a statue in a storm, swung his staff violently, and a powerful dome-like spiritual shield instantly unfolded, barely blocking most of the branches' attack. "Don't panic! This is an ancient protective magic circle. We need to find the core to break it. Be careful, don't get hurt by these branches!" the elder shouted, his voice steady and powerful, bringing a sense of calm to the panicked team.
The team members sprang into action, frantically searching for the key to the formation while constantly dodging the dense rain of branches. It was like searching for a life-saving bullet amidst a hail of bullets, every second fraught with danger. Suddenly, a sharp-eyed team member excitedly called out, "Elder, I've found it! Over there!" Everyone followed his finger and saw a rune, gleaming with a mysterious light, on the trunk of a massive, ancient tree. Like an eye, the rune silently watched them. Without a word, the elder rushed toward the rune, muttering something to himself, his staff emitting a brilliant beam of light that shot towards it like a meteor. With a deafening roar, the magic circle vanished in an instant, as if its soul had been drained from it. The surrounding trees ceased their attacks, and peace returned.
"There is no time to waste. Let's keep moving forward. We must find Ye Wuhen as soon as possible." The elder waved his crutch and led the way into the depths of the forest. The rescue team followed closely behind, and their figures soon disappeared into the dense forest.
In the mysterious space, after a difficult exploration, Ye Wuhen finally found a place similar to an exit at the end of the light and shadow. It was a door emitting a faint light, and the door was engraved with runes that were as complex as a maze. Those runes seemed to have life, flashing with mysterious light, as if telling Ye Wuhen an ancient secret. Ye Wuhen walked to the front of the door, his eyes fixed on the runes, his brows furrowed, and he fell into deep thought. He found that these runes had some subtle connection with the ancient magic circle he had seen in the forest before. "Could this be the key to leaving this damn place?" Ye Wuhen thought to himself. He took a deep breath and began to try to decipher the runes with his experience and wisdom.
On Lin Xiaoxiao's side, the suction finally seemed to weaken despite her tenacious resistance. Her consciousness gradually regained consciousness, like slowly emerging from the depths of the ocean. "Little fox, we can't just sit there and wait for death. We have to find a way out of here," Lin Xiaoxiao said weakly to the little fox. The little fox, as if understanding her words, nudged its furry head against Lin Xiaoxiao's leg, its eyes gleaming with determination, expressing its agreement. And so, man and fox began searching for an exit in this chaotic, swirling space, each step filled with uncertainty and hope.
After breaking free from the monsters' encirclement, Lin Yu and Bai Zhi bolted in the direction Lin Xiaoxiao had vanished. Their minds were fixed on finding Lin Xiaoxiao. "Xiaoxiao, you must hold on! We'll be there to rescue you!" Lin Yu shouted as he ran. His voice carried far through the mist, filled with endless anxiety and worry. Like two flashes of lightning, they vanished into the mist, leaving only the leaves they had disturbed rustling in the wind.
At this moment, the entire forest seems to have become a giant chessboard of life and death, with all parties struggling for survival and their goals. Can Ye Wuhen decipher the rune and successfully escape the mysterious space? Can Lin Xiaoxiao and the little fox find the exit in this chaotic space? Will Lin Yu and Bai Zhi reach Lin Xiaoxiao in time? Can the family rescue team successfully find Ye Wuhen?
