Chapter 5: Crisis in Araki Forest
Song Chaoming turned to Jingyun and asked, "But how can we improve our strength?" His brows were furrowed, his face full of anxiety and confusion.
A classmate heard this and came over to say, "You can go to the Araki Forest and kill monsters to gain the power of the Dream Mirror and increase your strength."
Another student, however, looked worried and said in a trembling voice, "I heard that Araki Forest is very dangerous."
Song Chaoming clenched his fists, his eyes determined, and said resolutely: "I will go even if it is dangerous. I will work hard to improve my strength!" He gritted his teeth, as if he was ready to face all difficulties and obstacles.
Song Chaoming and Jingyun walked towards the Araki Forest without hesitation. Just as they were about to leave, three voices came: "Let's go too!"
The five people looked at each other, and Song Chaoming spoke first: "My name is Song Chaoming, and my strength belongs to wood."
Jingyun continued, "My name is Jingyun, and my power belongs to wind and fire."
A classmate named Tianyuan stepped forward, crossed his arms, and said confidently: "My name is Tianyuan, and my power belongs to fire." His eyes were bright, revealing a fiery fighting spirit.
Feng Qi was not to be outdone. He waved his hands, creating a breeze, and said, "My name is Feng Qi, and my power belongs to the wind."
Chaoyun smiled innocently, stamped his foot, and kicked up a cloud of dust. He said, "My name is Chaoyun, and my power belongs to stone."
After the introduction, the five of them walked towards the Araki Forest together.
An hour later, they finally arrived. The desolate forest before them was shrouded in a thick layer of fog, and faint eerie sounds could be heard from within the fog, making one's hair stand on end.
Ancient trees towered tall, their massive canopies blocking out the sun, making it nearly impossible for sunlight to penetrate. The interior of the forest seemed exceptionally dark and damp. Thick layers of rotting leaves piled on the ground gave off a pungent, decaying odor.
Song Chaoming took his first cautious step, the rotten leaves crunching beneath his feet. He glanced around warily, his weapon tightly gripped. Jingyun followed closely behind, his expression tense and his breathing quickening.
Tianyuan frowned, beads of sweat oozing from his forehead, and his hands unconsciously ignited flames, as if he was ready to deal with sudden danger at any time.
Feng Qize closed his eyes lightly, feeling the subtle fluctuations in the wind, trying to detect potential threats in advance.
Chaoyun took steady steps, and every step seemed to make the ground tremble slightly. His eyes were firm, and he was always ready to use his strength to resist any possible attacks.
Suddenly, a burst of eerie howling broke the deathly silence of the forest without warning.
Many wolf demons surged out from all directions like ghosts, their bloody mouths wide open, their fangs sharp and pointed, and a disgusting fishy smell spewing from their mouths.
There was a ferocious and bloodthirsty light in his eyes as he pounced on the crowd madly, as if he wanted to eat them alive.
Song Chaoming's face instantly became extremely serious. There was no trace of retreat or fear in his eyes, only iron-hard determination.
He quickly chanted a spell, his hands dancing like a phantom, and shouted loudly: "Plant puppet, appear!"
In an instant, countless thick and tough vines quickly emerged from the ground. They intertwined and entangled with each other, instantly forming huge and majestic plant puppets.
These plant puppets took heavy steps and rushed towards the wolf demon without hesitation, and every step made the ground tremble slightly.
Jingyun bit her lips so hard that they bled, her beautiful face filled with determination. She quickly formed seals with her hands and cried out, "Fire Blade, out!"
Immediately afterwards, extremely hot fire blades appeared out of thin air. They whistled out, drew dazzling arcs in the air, and brought with them rolling heat waves, slashing fiercely at the ferocious wolf monsters.
Tian Yuan's eyes widened, veins bulged on his forehead, and his face was distorted by anger and tension. He roared and chanted a spell: "Fire Sword Technique, Slash!"
As his words fell, countless sword blades formed from blazing flames instantly took shape, shooting towards the wolf demons like meteors. Each blade carried a blazing heat, as if igniting the very air.
Feng Qi waved his hands rapidly, his sleeves fluttering, and chanted loudly: "Wind Blade, fast!"
An incredibly sharp wind blade instantly whistled out, with a sharp, piercing sound as it rushed towards the wolf demon at lightning speed. Wherever the wind blade passed, leaves were swept up, forming a small whirlwind.
Chaoyun's eyes widened, and the muscles on his face twitched slightly due to the exertion. He waved his hands vigorously and chanted a spell loudly: "Rock Missile, Explode!"
Huge and heavy rock missiles instantly hit the group of wolf monsters. Each rock missile carried a huge impact force. Once it hit the target, it would burst out with powerful force, shaking the surrounding wolf monsters to the ground.
Half an hour passed, and everyone's strength was gradually exhausted in the fierce battle.
They gasped for breath, their chests heaving like bellows, their clothes soaked with sweat and their hair stuck to their faces.
Jingyun looked anxious, and her beautiful face looked a little pale because of fear and fatigue.
Her eyes were filled with helplessness and panic, and she shouted loudly, "What should I do?" There was a hint of crying in her voice.
Song Chaoming was also panting, with sweat dripping down his cheeks, but his eyes remained resolute and firm.
He gritted his teeth and said decisively, "I'll lead them away, you guys run! Don't worry about me! Go back and ask the teachers to rescue me!"
After saying this, without waiting for anyone's response, he turned around without hesitation and rushed towards the pack of wolf monsters without even looking back.
While running desperately, Song Chaoming looked back from time to time at his companions who were gradually moving away, with a smile of relief and determination on his face.
After running for half an hour, Song Chaoming's legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead, but he still did not stop.
However, when he finally stopped, he found that there was a bottomless cliff in front of him. There was cloud and mist under the cliff, which was daunting.
His face instantly turned pale as paper, a look of despair appearing on his face. He slowly turned his head and saw that the wolf demons had caught up with him like a tide and surrounded him.
A huge wolf demon suddenly pounced forward, its extremely sharp claws flashed a cold light in the air, and it swung fiercely.
Song Chaoming was unable to dodge and was hit hard by the fatal claw. He lost his balance instantly and fell straight down the cliff.
At the moment of falling, his eyes were full of unwillingness and determination. He waved his hands in the air in vain, trying to grab something, but in the end he could only helplessly let his body continue to fall. His head hit the rock and Song Chaoming fainted.
