The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm
Chapter 8 Selection Competition
Selection Competition
The morning sun shone on the family selection exam venue, where a tense and exciting atmosphere filled the air. For the young magicians, this selection exam was an opportunity to change their fate, and for Carl, it was a key step on the road to solving many mysteries.
The selection examination is divided into parts such as magic theory knowledge, magic control and practical exercises. Each part is crucial, just like the checkpoints leading to the magic academy.
The magical theory exam took place in the family's ancient hall. The air was filled with the scent of stale paper and magical ink. Sunlight filtered through the stained glass, casting dappled shadows on the rows of tables and chairs. Young wizards sat at their tables, their expressions focused, their quills scratching across the parchment.
After receiving the test paper, Carl quickly scanned the questions, a slight smile rising from his lips. The questions were not difficult for him. He was thoroughly familiar with everything from the origins of ancient magic, the properties of magical elements, to the principles of complex magic circles. This was thanks to his long study of ancient texts and the careful guidance of Elder Albert. He wrote furiously, the answers pouring from his mind like a spring, flowing onto the parchment. Some of the other candidates around him frowned, others sweated, but Carl appeared to be at ease. After the test, he confidently handed in his paper, and the praise in the examiner's eyes confirmed his excellent performance in this area.
However, Carl encountered difficulties in controlling his magic power. Due to the rapid growth of his magic power, he encountered some minor problems in controlling it. The examination venue was a specially designed magic training ground, surrounded by various magic testers and protective magic circles.
Carl stood in the center of the training ground, took a deep breath, and tried to gather his magic power into a stable sphere. But the magic power, like a group of mischievous elves, seemed restless under his control. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He tried hard to concentrate, but the magic sphere still flickered from time to time and struggled to maintain a stable shape.
"Karl, stay calm! Don't be impatient." Elder Albert reminded softly from the side.
Carl nodded, catching his breath, and tried to recall his previous methods for controlling his magic. He closed his eyes, carefully feeling the flow of his magic, slowly taming it like a herd of wild horses. After some effort, the magic sphere finally stabilized, but Carl knew it wasn't perfect. This was a wake-up call for him to work harder on his magic control.
If the magic control phase was just a minor setback, then the actual combat drill was a thrilling test. The actual combat drill took place in a huge circular arena, surrounded by family members. Their cheers and shouts intertwined, filling the air with a tense atmosphere.
Carl's opponent is a tall young magician named Leon, with a cunning look in his eyes. Leon has always been jealous of Carl's talent, and in this actual combat exercise, he decided to give Carl a lesson.
The battle began, and Leon launched the first attack. He chanted a spell and waved his wand rapidly with both hands. A black smoke poured from the tip of his wand and swept towards Carl. The smoke seemed to contain countless sharp shadow fragments, emitting a dangerous aura.
Carl frowned, sensing the malevolent force of this dark magic. He quickly cast the "Breeze Dispel" spell, and a powerful gust of wind whistled from his side, blowing toward the black smoke. The breeze and the smoke hissed, dispersing the smoke somewhat. However, the shadow fragments broke through the wind's resistance and shot toward Carl.
Carl cast the "Light Shield" spell, and a shield radiating a dazzling light appeared before him. Shadow fragments collided with the shield, sending up showers of sparks. Seeing his attack blocked, Leon snorted coldly, then increased his magic output and chanted a more complex spell.
Suddenly, the ground began to tremble violently, and countless black vines emerged from the ground. Covered in spikes, they coiled around Carl like giant black pythons. Carl remained calm. He cast the "Fire Vine Burning" spell, and a raging fire erupted from his hands, instantly igniting the black vines. The flames spread rapidly along the vines, burning towards Leon.
A sneer appeared on Leon's lips. He cast a spell again, and a water curtain rose in front of him, blocking the attack of the flames. The water curtain met the flames, generating a large amount of water vapor, and the arena was suddenly filled with fog.
Carl knew Leon was using the fog to hide his whereabouts. He closed his eyes and cast the "Magic Perception" spell, trying to find Leon's location in the fog. Suddenly, he felt a strong magical fluctuation coming from the left. He quickly turned and cast the "Thunderstorm Bombardment" spell in that direction.
A bolt of lightning shot out from the tip of his wand, tracing a dazzling arc through the mist before striking its target. The lightning struck with a loud bang, but to Carl's surprise, it was merely an illusion created by Leon. Just as Carl was distracted, Leon appeared from his right, waving his wand and sending a powerful dark shockwave of magic towards Carl.
This dark shockwave held immense power, tinging the air black wherever it passed. Carl sensed an unprecedented danger, and at the critical moment, he cast a "space shift" spell, vanishing from the spot. The dark shockwave struck Carl's original position, creating a massive crater in the ground and sending debris flying.
Leon thought his attack was successful, a smug smile on his face. But he didn't expect Carl to appear behind him. A flicker of determination flashed in Carl's eyes. He decided not to hold back. He combined the magical elements of wind, fire, and thunder, forming a powerful magic combination—"Wrath of Wind, Fire, and Thunder."
He waved his wand, and a massive vortex of magic appeared before him. Within it, howling winds, blazing flames, and flashing lightning swept toward Leon with incredible speed and force. Leon's eyes widened in fear, and he attempted to cast a defensive spell, but it was too late.
The magical vortex struck Leon, enveloping him completely. Leon struggled painfully within the vortex, his defensive magic rapidly crumbling under the powerful attack. Just as the vortex was about to inflict fatal damage on Leon, Carl's mind shifted. He didn't want to endanger the lives of his people because of this selection, so he quickly withdrew some of his magic power, weakening the vortex's power.
Leon was flung out by the magic vortex and fell heavily to the ground. He got up in a mess, his eyes filled with resentment and resentment.
"Hmph, you're lucky this time, Carl." Leon said viciously.
Carl looked at him and said calmly, "This is not luck, Leon. We are a tribe, and we should not do anything to win."
Although Carl emerged victorious from this fierce battle, his heart was heavy. During the battle, he noticed a magical hand gesture used by Leon, a signature gesture from a sealed dark magic school from his previous life. This discovery startled him, and he wondered why Leon used such a gesture. Was it a random acquisition, or was there a deeper reason behind it?
During this selection competition, Carl went through numerous trials and tribulations and finally qualified to enter the Magic Academy. His family members cheered for him, and Lillian excitedly ran over and hugged him, "Carl, you're amazing! I knew you could do it."
Carl smiled at Lillian, but his heart was filled with worry. He knew that life at the magic academy was full of unknowns, and now with the shadow of dark magic, his path was destined to be difficult. But he would not retreat, for he shouldered the hopes of his family and his unwavering pursuit of the truth about the magical world. With these doubts and a sense of purpose, he would step forward to the magic academy and embrace new challenges.
While waiting to go to the magic academy, Carl didn't relax. He continued to strengthen his magic control training while investigating Leon's use of dark magic gestures. He searched the family's ancient books for records of that dark magic school and asked the elders if they knew anything about it. However, the family books contained very little information about this dark magic school, and the elders had mostly only heard rumors, not the specifics.
Carl also found Leon and tried to ask him about the origin of the gesture, but Leon was full of hostility and refused to answer any questions.
"Lyon, that gesture is very dangerous. It may bring disaster to you and your family. You must tell me where you learned it from." Carl said to Leon seriously.
"Hmph, it's none of your business, Carl. Do you think you can tell me what to do just because you won?" Leon roared angrily.
Carl sighed helplessly. He knew he couldn't get an answer from Leon. But he wouldn't give up. He decided to continue searching for clues about this dark magic school after entering the magic academy. He knew that if dark magic spread in this world, the consequences would be disastrous.
As his departure date approaches, Carl's heart is filled with anticipation for the magic academy and fear for the unknown challenges ahead. Standing in the family courtyard, gazing at the sky, he silently vows that no matter how great the difficulties, he will protect his family, this magical world, and solve all mysteries.
Finally, the day of departure arrived. Carl, wearing a neat magic robe and carrying a simple bag, set out on the road to the magic academy with the blessings of his family members.
