The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm

Chapter 79 The Test of the Artifact (1)

The Test of the Artifact (I)

The moment Carl's fingertips touched the sword of ice and fire, his vision suddenly lit up, and then the world spun. When he came to his senses, he found himself in a completely unfamiliar world—an alien dimension filled with ice and fire.

"Wow! What the hell is this place?" Carl exclaimed loudly with his eyes wide open, his voice echoing in this empty and violent space with a hint of fear.

The forces of ice and fire roared like mad beasts. The flames, like hungry demons, lunged at him with bared fangs and claws. The blazing flames were a vibrant orange-red, each a dancing imp, frantically licking at Carl's magic shield with a crackling sound, as if celebrating their impending breakthrough. And the ice, like countless sharp spears, shot at him from all directions. The icy ridges, crystal clear yet piercingly cold, slashed through the air with a whirring sound. Wherever they passed, the surrounding air seemed to freeze, forming streams of white mist.

At this moment, Carl's gaze once again fell on the ice-fire sword that had brought him here. This sword was truly a peerless artifact, its blade forged from mysterious meteorite iron, a gift from the depths of the universe. Its surface was studded with tiny particles that shimmered like stars. These particles, embedded within the blade, emanated a deep and mysterious luster, like countless pairs of eyes from the universe peering down upon the human world. Each tiny particle seemed to hold an ancient and mysterious power, interwoven and fused together to form the blade's indestructible texture.

The blade is inscribed with ancient runes of ice and fire. These runes resemble the most ancient language in the universe, mysterious and profound. The runes' lines are fluid and intricate, as if meticulously crafted by the most skilled artisans at the dawn of the universe. They are the source of two elemental forces, like two powerful engines, continuously unleashing the power of ice and fire, creating a strange spectacle in the surrounding space. Half is a blazing flame, a vast blooming crimson lotus, fervent and unrestrained, rising ever upward, seemingly threatening to burst through the sky. The petals of the crimson lotus are vivid, each like a dancing spirit within the flames, leaping and tumbling, vividly showcasing the passion of the flames. The other half is piercing ice, a vast iceberg, emitting a cold blue light that freezes the soul at a glance. Countless tiny lines are etched across the iceberg, like snowflakes, delicate and beautiful, yet radiating a deadly chill.

Beneath the ice and fire runes, even more mysterious patterns lie hidden. Like twinkling stars in the night sky, they radiate a faint glow. Like playful elves, these lights dart back and forth across the blade, seemingly challenging Carl while also tempting him to explore its secrets. These patterns hold an unknown, mystical power, like a sealed treasure waiting to be awakened. These patterns vary in shape. Some resemble mysterious magic circles, their lines intertwining and circling, as if telling an ancient, untold story. Others resemble the totems of mythical creatures, so vivid they seem poised to leap from the sword at any moment, unleashing their magical powers.

"This sword has a really bad temper, and its test is too harsh!" Carl shouted to the elf on his shoulder. The elf was holding Carl's clothes tightly at this time, and its wings were trembling slightly because of fear.

"I... I didn't expect this to happen. Carl, what should we do?" The elf said in a crying voice, and its originally smart eyes were now full of worry.

"Don't be afraid, we will definitely find a way." Karl said through gritted teeth. Although he was unsure in his heart, he knew that he had to stay calm now, otherwise it would be really over.

Carl knew this was a test from the artifact. If he couldn't withstand and control these elements, he would be trapped here forever, a sacrifice to the forces of ice and fire. He might even be completely destroyed by the elemental forces, leaving not even a trace of his soul. He took a deep breath and began to concentrate, trying to establish some kind of connection with the violent forces of ice and fire.

"Hmph, you want to defeat me? Not that easy!" Carl roared, his eyes became firm, and he stretched out his hands forward, trying to feel the flow of the power of ice and fire.

He carefully extended a trace of magic power out of the shield to touch the flames. In an instant, a strong heat flowed back along with the magic power, almost burning his arm.

"Ouch! This fire is so hot, just like eating a hundred peppers." Carl shook his arm and grimaced in pain.

Then, he tried to contact the power of ice. The moment his magic power touched the ice, a bone-chilling cold spread along his magic power. He felt as if his blood was freezing, and his body shivered involuntarily.

"Hiss - this ice is colder than the wind on the glacier. My fingers are about to fall off." Carl complained, his lips turning a little purple.

But Carl didn't give up. He tried again and again to communicate with the forces of ice and fire. In the process, he discovered that despite their violent nature, a delicate balance existed between them. Like two partners with vastly different personalities yet interdependent, the more fiercely the fire burned, the stronger the ice became; and the colder the ice became, the hotter the fire grew.

"Hey, elf, I think I found something." Carl said to the elf excitedly, with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"Really? What is it? Don't do anything rash!" the elf said nervously. It flew in front of Carl and stared at him without blinking.

"I think the power of ice and fire are interconnected. We have to find the balance point, and maybe we can control them." Carl explained with a confident smile on his face, although the smile seemed a little forced in this dangerous environment.

Carl then began to observe the changes in the power of ice and fire more carefully. He discovered that whenever the flames burned to a certain height, the spread of ice would briefly pause; and when the power of ice condensed to a certain level, the movement of the flames would also slow down for a moment.

"That's it!" Carl shouted. He chose the right moment. When the power of ice and fire paused at the same time, he quickly infiltrated his magic power into it, trying to establish a stable channel.

However, this action was like stirring up a hornet's nest. The power of ice and fire seemed to be greatly provoked, becoming even more violent. The flames instantly transformed into a giant fire dragon, which pounced at Carl with its bloody maw wide open. The dragon's scales were clearly visible, each one like a sharp blade of flame. The ice formed into a giant ice bird, its wingspan tens of meters wide, each feather like a sharp ice spike, swooping down towards Carl.

"Oh my! This is getting serious!" Carl exclaimed, hastily strengthening his magic shield to prepare for the even more powerful attack. His heartbeat raced, and he felt like he was standing on the brink of doomsday, but his eyes remained firm, with no thought of retreating.

At this critical moment, the elf suddenly flew in front of Carl, and its small body burst into dazzling light.

"Carl, let me help you!" the elf shouted. Although its voice was childish, it was full of courage.

The elf cast a magic that Carl had never seen before. The light was like warm sunlight, shining on the power of ice and fire. Miraculously, under the illumination of this light, the power of ice and fire actually showed signs of easing.

"Elf, you are awesome!" Carl said in surprise. He seized the opportunity and once again probed his magic into the power of ice and fire, trying to re-establish the balance.

Through the combined efforts of Carl and the elves, they gradually stabilized the situation. Carl could feel his connection with the power of ice and fire growing stronger, as if he had reached a tacit understanding with two powerful allies. But he knew that this was only the beginning of the test; more challenges awaited him. He must prepare to face the test of the artifact, unlock its secrets, and escape this dangerous alternate dimension.
