The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm
Chapter 4: First Show of Strength (1)
First appearance (I)
In the family's quiet and mysterious magic training room, the magic crystals inlaid on the walls emitted a soft and steady light, illuminating the room like a dream. Like a hungry apprentice, Carl greedily absorbed the advanced magical knowledge taught by Elder Albert.
Elder Albert gently waved his wand, and complex, dazzling magic spells emerged from the air, twinkling like stars in a dazzling galaxy. Each spell imbued with ancient and profound magical wisdom, interweaving and swirling, revealing the mysterious allure of magic. As he demonstrated, the elder explained, "Carl, this 'Phantom Step' spell requires you to precisely infuse your magic power into your steps, resonating with the surrounding spatial elements and allowing you to teleport instantly." Carl stared intently at the spell, his gaze intense, beads of sweat forming on his forehead, yet he dared not slack off.
Soon after, Carl began experimenting. He closed his eyes, concentrated, and slowly channeled his magic power to his feet. At first, the magic was like a wild horse, uncontrollable, but he gritted his teeth and worked hard to tame it. Finally, his figure flickered and appeared a few steps away. Elder Albert's eyes flashed with surprise: "Carl, your understanding and control are beyond imagination!" Carl's eyes were filled with excitement: "Elder, I feel like I have a natural bond with magic."
As his studies deepened, Carl's understanding of advanced magic grew deeper, and his learning speed amazed even the elders. He was like a sponge, rapidly absorbing knowledge and transforming it into his own strength.
Soon, the family's magic competition arrived. This was a stage for the younger generation to showcase their abilities and compete for honor and resources, and the entire family was excited. The stands surrounding the competition venue were filled with clan members, their eyes fixed on them and their thoughts buzzing.
“I wonder who will come out on top this time.”
"I heard that Rick is well prepared and very competitive."
Carl stood in a corner of the competition arena, his expression calm. He wore a simple black magic robe, which Lillian had personally tailored for him. While lacking in ornamentation, it was clean and sharp. Lillian clenched her fists and cheered him on. "Carl, you're the best! Keep going!" Carl responded with a confident smile.
The competition began, with the first round being an elimination match. Carl's first opponent was Kuhn, three years his senior. Kuhn was tall, muscular, and possessed powerful magical powers, a man renowned within his family. He looked at Carl and grinned, revealing his white teeth. "Don't be afraid, little one. I'll go easy on you." Carl merely smiled faintly and didn't respond.
The signal for the challenge was given. Kuhn shouted, waving his wand and muttering an incantation. Instantly, the ground shook violently, and several earth vines as thick as pythons sprang out from the ground, swooping down towards Carl with bared fangs and claws. The vines were covered in sharp thorns, gleaming coldly, and wherever they passed, deep furrows were carved into the ground.
Carl's eyes flashed, and he reacted quickly. He tapped his feet lightly, unleashing "Phantom Step," his figure weaving through the earthen creepers like a ghost. Seeing this, Kuhn snorted coldly, increasing his magic output, causing the creepers to dance even more frantically. Carl, seizing the perfect moment, paused, quickly forming hand seals and muttering something. Instantly, a wall of ice rose before him, crystal clear and radiating a biting chill. The creepers collided with the wall, shattering into chunks of earth and rock.
Kuhn frowned, having not expected Carl to so easily neutralize his attack. He waved his wand again, and dark clouds thickened in the sky, with lightning swirling through the clouds. Then, bolts of lightning struck Carl like silver snakes, accompanied by a deafening roar.
Carl remained calm, closing his eyes and sensing the magical elements around him. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and waved his wand. A powerful force of wind gathered around him. The wind formed a massive vortex, drawing the lightning bolts into it. The lightning bolts collided and dissipated within the vortex, leaving only bursts of crackling sounds.
Karl pressed on, merging wind and water elements into countless sharp icicles, which he launched at Kuhn. The icicles gleamed coldly in the sunlight, like deadly daggers. Kuhn quickly cast a defensive spell, and an earthen shield appeared before him. The icicles collided with the shield, sending up a shower of icy shards.
Carl didn't give Kuhn a chance to breathe. He used his "Phantom Step" and instantly appeared behind Kuhn. Kuhn was horrified. Before he could turn around, Carl's wand emitted a ray of light, striking Kuhn in the back. Kuhn stumbled forward a few steps and fell to the ground.
"I give up." Kuhn said helplessly.
The audience around were so shocked by Carl's wonderful performance that they were speechless.
In the following rounds, Carl continued to demonstrate his immense strength, easily defeating his opponents. His flexible and varied use of magic, coupled with his impeccable timing in combat, amazed the tribesmen present.
In the final match, Carl faced Rick. Rick had always considered Carl a thorn in his side, and this time he was determined to defeat Carl and prove himself. He glared at Carl fiercely, "Carl, don't even think about winning today. I'll show you how powerful I am." Carl looked at him calmly, "Then come on, let's show you our strength."
The contest began, and Rick launched the first attack. He gripped his wand tightly in both hands and uttered a long, complex spell. Suddenly, circles of dazzling arcs appeared around him, interweaving into a vast electric grid. The grid enveloped Carl, ionizing the air wherever it passed, emitting a pungent odor.
Carl sensed the overwhelming force of the electric grid and quickly cast a wind magic. Powerful air currents formed a barrier around him, blocking the electric grid. The air currents collided with the grid, sending up countless sparks. Seeing this, Rick increased his magic output, causing the grid to shrink, attempting to break through the wind barrier.
Carl's brow furrowed, knowing he couldn't remain passively defensive. He began to counterattack, injecting fire into the wind barrier. Instantly, the wind barrier transformed into a wall of fire, raging fiercely as it spread toward the power grid. Rick hadn't expected Carl to use this tactic, so he quickly changed his strategy, retracting the power grid and transforming it into bolts of lightning, shooting towards Carl.
Carl used his "Phantom Step" to weave through the lightning. But Rick's attacks continued like a torrential downpour, and Carl gradually began to feel the strain. While dodging a bolt of lightning, his shoulder was scraped, and he felt a sharp pain.
Just when Rick thought Carl was about to be defeated, Carl's eyes grew deep. In the tense atmosphere of the battle, he unconsciously used a magical technique he had created in a previous life but had never passed on to others. He combined the three elements of wind, fire, and water in a unique way.
Carl waved his wand, and a strange energy emanated from him. As if summoned by some kind of force, the surrounding magical elements quickly gathered. First, a gust of wind rose, mingled with blazing flames, and above the flames, water surged. This energy formed a massive magical vortex, where the three elements blended and collided, emitting astonishing power.
The magical vortex swept towards Rick, and Rick's eyes widened in horror. He tried to cast defensive magic, but his defenses were like paper in the face of such overwhelming force. The magical vortex struck Rick, sweeping him up and spinning him in mid-air. Rick felt as if he were in the midst of a doomsday storm, his body buffeted by the elements, causing him excruciating pain.
As the magic vortex dissipated, Rick fell heavily to the ground, looking utterly miserable. The competition arena was in complete silence, and everyone was stunned by Carl's amazing magic.
At this moment, a flicker of shock crossed the eyes of a typically taciturn elder in the family. He trembled slightly, seemingly lost in deep recollection. He muttered to himself, "This... could this be the legend from ten thousand years ago? That legendary forbidden magic..." This elder had experienced many hardships and knew much of the family's forgotten past, as well as the ancient legends of the continent.
Carl's performance instantly caused a stir within the family. The younger generation's eyes were filled with admiration and envy, and they cheered Carl's name. The older members, on the other hand, looked at each other in surprise and deep curiosity about Carl.
"How on earth did Carl learn this magic?"
"He is truly the rising star of our family!"
Elder Albert looked at Carl, his eyes gleaming with complex emotions. There was pride in Carl's outstanding performance, but also a desire to explore the mystery within him. In this small competition, Carl was like a bright new star, shining brightly in the family's sky, bringing new hope to the family's previously bleak future. Carl himself, standing on the competition field, looking at the cheering tribesmen, felt unusually calm.
