The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm
Chapter 35 Temporarily Retreating the Enemy
Temporarily repel the enemy
The mines were thick with smoke from the battle, and every inch of the air seemed scorched by the aftermath of magic. Carl's gaze was blazing as he stared intently at Viktor's seemingly impenetrable dark shield. His heartbeat raced with nervousness and excitement, and beads of sweat covered his forehead. The sweat trickled down his cheeks, dripping onto the dusty ground, only to be instantly dispersed by the gusts of air stirred by the battle. In this crucial moment, drawing on his previous observations, he found a weak spot in Viktor's dark magic—a barely perceptible glimmer of light in the darkness. This weak spot was like a tiny crack in the veil of darkness, tiny but holding the hope of breaking through.
"Now!" Carl cried in his heart. His mind was intensely focused, like a taut bowstring, he mobilized all his magical power without reservation. Magical power surged through his meridians like a surging river converging into the sea. It was a majestic and surging force. It roared through Carl's body, and every place it flowed through caused his muscles to tremble slightly with the surge of magical power. This magic power finally poured into the wand in his hand. Sensing the powerful will and surge of magic power from its owner, the wand began to vibrate slightly, as if answering Carl's call.
Carl gripped his wand tightly in both hands, muttering to himself. The spell he chanted was ancient and mysterious, each syllable a key to unlock a treasure trove of magical power. As he chanted the spell, a dazzling, almost blinding light blossomed from the tip of the wand. Initially like a budding flower, nourished by magic, it slowly unfolded its vibrant petals. This light fused Carl's exquisite understanding of the various elemental magics: the heat of fire, the chill of frost, the swiftness of wind, and the weight of the earth—all elements intertwined to form a devastating force.
Flame elements leaped in the light like nimble spirits. They shimmered with an orange-red radiance, each flame dancing joyfully as if alive. The flames were incredibly hot, distorting the surrounding air beneath their scorching heat, emitting waves of heat that spread outward like surging waves.
The frost element adds a chilling hue to the light. Glistening ice crystals shimmer in the light, interweaving to form intricate and beautiful patterns. Each crystal exudes a biting chill, seemingly capable of freezing everything around it. A faint blue halo, a symbol of frost magic, emanates from the surface of the crystals, imbuing the entire light with a chilling and mysterious aura.
Wind elements whizzed through the light like invisible blades. They whistled past, emitting sharp sounds like whistles in the night sky. The wind imbued the light with speed and impact, allowing it to rush towards its target with lightning speed. Each gust of wind was like a courageous arrow charging forward, with unstoppable force.
The earth element is the foundation of the light, imbuing it with a calm and solid quality. The brown light, like the rich earth, evokes a sense of unwavering reliability. The earth element holds a powerful force, a strength condensed from the majesty of mountains and the tenacity of rock. It imbues the light with both powerful attacking power and a sense of stability.
"Die!" Carl roared, darting his wand towards the weak spot in Victor's dark shield. With his movement, the light, like a peerless divine weapon, rushed towards Victor with unstoppable force. Wherever the light passed, space seemed to rip apart, emitting bursts of sharp whistling sounds, as if composing a war hymn for the impending fatal blow. The light continuously compressed and expanded as it flew, each transformation increasing its power. Like a flaming meteor, it streaked across the dark universe, hurtling towards its target.
Victor sensed the approaching danger and attempted to reinforce the dark shield, but it was too late. The moment the light collided with the dark shield, the entire mine was filled with dazzling light, like a sun exploding, instantly releasing endless energy. This was followed by a deafening roar, like the sound of creation at the dawn of time. The sound echoed through the mine, shaking the walls and causing the ground to tremble violently, as if the entire mine was crumbling under the impact of this force.
Under this powerful impact, the dark shield cracked like fragile glass. These cracks quickly spread, covering the entire shield like a spider web. Each crack was like a wound in the dark power, oozing out wisps of black smoke, the dark magic struggling in pain.
Viktor was flung backward by the force of the impact, a mouthful of black blood spurting out. It splattered onto the ground with a sizzling sound, emitting acrid black smoke, like the painful wail of a dark force. His body slammed heavily against the wall of the mine, and rocks fell and crashed down around him. Some of the rocks struck him, causing him to grunt, but his eyes remained filled with anger and resentment.
"Hmph, you little brat, you actually managed to hurt me." Victor clutched his chest, a flicker of surprise and anger in his eyes, but it was quickly masked by his arrogance. His black robe had been torn slightly by the impact, revealing the black armor beneath, also shrouded in dark magic. The runes on the armor shone eerily in the dim light. Like pairs of evil eyes, they peered at everything around them in the darkness, emitting a chilling aura.
"Victor, your plot will not succeed. Today is your end!" Carl shouted, panting heavily. Although he had successfully repelled one of Victor's attacks, the massive drain on his magic power had left him somewhat weak. His legs trembled slightly, as if bearing a heavy burden. But his gaze remained firm, unwavering. It was like a burning flame, gleaming with an unyielding light in the darkness.
"Doomsday? Hahahaha, you're too naive. This is just the beginning." Victor laughed wildly, his laughter echoing through the mine, filled with disdain and defiance. He knew that continuing the battle would be disadvantageous. The seemingly young magician before him was far more powerful than he had imagined, and he was aided by those formidable teachers. So, he decided to retreat temporarily and wait for a better opportunity.
"We'll meet again. The next time we meet, it will be the day you die." Victor finished his words, muttering a complex, dark incantation. As he chanted, a black smoke began to rise around him, growing thicker and thicker until it gradually enveloped him. The black smoke, like living tentacles, twisted and entwined itself, emitting a thick, dark aura.
"Don't even think about running!" Seeing this, Carl rushed forward to stop Victor, but he almost fell as soon as he took a step due to exhaustion. The dean quickly supported him and said, "Carl, don't be impulsive. He's using dark magic like space transfer. We can't stop him now."
Before the black smoke completely engulfed Victor, his blood-red eyes pierced through the smouldering air, coldly gazing at Carl and the teachers. Their gaze was filled with murderous intent and resentment. "Wait! I'll be back, and then you'll all fight in the darkness." With that, he vanished completely into the smoke, leaving only his chilling laughter to echo through the mine.
Carl clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging deep into his palms. His heart was filled with anger and resentment. "He got away. We must find him as soon as possible. We can't let him hurt us again."
"Don't worry, Carl. Although we didn't completely defeat him this time, we did succeed in stopping his conspiracy, and we still have more important things to do." The dean patted Carl's shoulder and comforted him.
Only then did the teachers and Carl remember the imprisoned students. They began searching the mines for any trace of them. Deep within the mines, the air was filled with the scent of dark magic. The walls were covered in sinister runes, emitting a dark red glow that added a touch of eerie terror to the surroundings. The runes' lines were twisted and complex, like demonic graffiti, each stroke imbued with an unholy power. They flickered and danced on the walls, seemingly telling a dark story.
"Everyone, split up and search. We must find those students." The dean commanded.
The teachers and Carl split up and searched every corner of the mine. Carl walked along a narrow passageway filled with a pungent odor, a sickening mixture of rotting corpses and burning sulfur. The ground was covered with dust and gravel, and every step he took raised a cloud of dust. Suddenly, he heard a faint groan.
"Is anyone there?" Carl shouted, quickening his pace and heading towards the sound. At the end of the corridor, he found a massive cage holding numerous students. Their faces were pale, like ghosts drained of life. Their eyes were filled with fear and exhaustion, and some even had tears in their eyes, a sign of their helplessness in the darkness. Some were wounded, their bodies stained with blood, their clothes soaked with blood, the dark red stains glaring in the dim light. Others lay unconscious, leaning weakly against the bars of their cages, their lips dry and chapped, their colorless lips etched with blood.
"Classmates, we're here to save you!" Carl exclaimed excitedly. He walked over to the cage and attempted to open it. But the cage was enchanted with a dark spell. As soon as he touched it, a wave of darkness surged, attempting to consume his body. Like a cold, venomous snake, the dark energy snaked up his arm, instantly numbing it. Carl quickly cast a cleansing spell, rapidly chanting a purifying spell as his wand emanated a soft white light. Like the first rays of morning sunlight, warm and pure, it gradually dispelled the dark energy, driving the cold and numbness from Carl's arm.
Carl then carefully examined the lock on the cage. It looked ancient, intricately engraved with runes. These runes glowed a dark red, echoing the dark magical aura surrounding them. Carl leaned in closer, examining the runes. He found them somewhat similar to those he had seen on the mine walls, yet with subtle differences. Recalling his previous experiences battling dark magic, he began to experiment with different spells to decipher the runes.
He first cast a detection spell. A pale blue light emanated from his wand, enveloping the lock. The light shone over the runes, and Carl, using the information it fed back, attempted to understand their structure and the flow of magic. Then, based on the information he detected, he tried several methods to break the spell. He first used a simple elemental balance spell, attempting to break the balance of dark magic between the runes, but it didn't work. The runes simply flickered a few times, remaining firmly locked on the cage.
Undeterred, Carl continued trying. He thought of a way to reverse the flow of magic. He concentrated his energy, injecting a force into the lock in the opposite direction of the rune's magic. This time, the rune began to flicker violently, its dark red light flickering, as if struggling. Carl increased his input of magic power, and sweat once again covered his forehead. His magic power was rapidly depleting, but he gritted his teeth and persisted.
After considerable effort, Carl finally found a way to break the spell. He cast a spell that combined elements of light and order. He chanted a complex incantation, and the light from his wand grew brighter. The light enveloped the lock, and the runes on it began to flicker, then fade. With a crisp sound, the cage door swung open.
"Everyone, come out quickly." Carl said, and he walked into the cage to help the injured students. Other teachers also came here one after another, and together they led the students out of the cage.
"Teacher, Karl, you're finally here! I thought we'd never get out," a student cried, his face tear-stained and his body trembling. His eyes were filled with joy at having survived and gratitude towards his teacher and Karl.
"It's okay, you're safe now," Teacher A said soothingly, tears welling in his eyes. Seeing these students suffer, his heart was filled with guilt and heartache. He gently stroked the student's head, trying to calm him down.
"Let's leave here first. This mine is too dangerous." said the dean, leading everyone towards the exit of the mine.
As Carl left, his mind was preoccupied. This battle with Victor had made him realize that Victor posed a far greater threat than he had imagined. His dark magic was not only powerful but also insidious and cunning, and he would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. If he wanted to defeat him once and for all and protect the safety of the academy and everyone else, he had to improve his strength as quickly as possible. As he walked, he mentally considered various ways to improve his strength, knowing that time was running out and Victor could attack again at any moment.
"Teacher, this matter is not over yet. Victor will definitely come back. We must be prepared." Carl said to the dean.
"Well, you're right, Carl. We have to strengthen the academy's defense after we go back, and you must also work hard to improve your strength. You performed very well in this battle, but we can't take it lightly." The dean said seriously, his eyes revealing worry and determination. He knew that the road ahead was still long, and they must be fully prepared to meet more challenges.
"I know, I will. I can't let Victor hurt those around me." Carl clenched his fists, his eyes revealing a firm determination. He looked into the distance, as if he could already see the scene of fighting Victor again. He knew that it would be an even more intense life-and-death battle.
As they emerged from the mine, sunlight bathed them, a warm feeling that brought a sigh of relief. But they knew this battle was only the beginning, and greater challenges lay ahead. The rescued students, supported by their teachers, walked toward the academy. Their figures, shone in the sunlight, seemed remarkably resolute, as if declaring to the world that they would not yield to darkness. Carl, gazing into the distance, began to formulate plans to improve his strength. He knew that his next encounter with Victor would be an even more intense battle of life and death.
