The Rebirth of the God of Law: The Lord of the God Realm
Chapter 18 College Competition (2)
College Competition (II)
At the competition venue, sunlight pierced through the drifting magical mist like golden swords, scattering across the magically blessed ground of the arena. The surrounding stands were already filled with people, and the cheers and shouts of the audience blended together like surging waves, crashing into every corner of the arena.
Carl stood at one side of the arena, clad in a simple, well-fitting magic robe, its hems swaying gently in the breeze. His eyes were calm and focused, like a deep lake, yet a burning fire lurked deep within. Across from him stood his first-round opponent—a nervous-looking young wizard.
With the referee's command, the competition officially began. The opponent launched the first attack, waving his wand and chanting a spell. Sharp icicles flew towards Carl. The icicles gleamed coldly in the sunlight, like a flock of ferocious silver birds, piercing the air with a sharp whistling sound.
Carl took his time, raising his wand slightly and muttering something. Instantly, a whirlwind erupted around him, tinged with sparks. Wind and fire intertwined, forming a fiery barrier. The ice cones collided with the barrier and instantly dissipated into puffs of white mist, dissipating into the air.
"Hmph, you're quite capable." Seeing this, his opponent frowned and cast his spell again. This time, he summoned a massive ball of water, which swirled above his head, seemingly imbued with powerful energy. With a wave of his wand, the ball hurled itself towards Carl, splashing the ground wherever it passed.
Carl's lips curled slightly as he thrust his wand into the ground, rapidly chanting a spell. Thick vines, covered in thorns, quickly sprouted from the ground. They intertwined, forming a vast green cage that trapped the water ball. The thorns on the vines continuously pierced the water ball, causing it to crack and eventually shatter with a splash of water.
"My turn," Carl whispered. He gripped his wand with both hands and began to cast a fusion spell. He mobilized the various magical elements within his body, skillfully blending fire, wind, and earth. A vast magical vortex appeared around him, its edges rimmed by flames, wind whistling through it, and at its center, a massive rock. The vortex moved rapidly toward his opponent, scratching deep scars in the ground wherever it passed.
The opponent stared at the vortex in horror. He attempted to cast a defensive spell, but it was too late. The vortex enveloped him, and he felt as if he were at the end of the world. The intense heat of the flames, the force of the wind, and the crushing pressure of the rock were almost unbearable. At the last moment, he managed to raise a shield, but the vortex broke through it, knocking him to the ground.
"Carl wins!" The referee's voice rang out, and the audience suddenly erupted in warm cheers.
"Wow, Carl is amazing!"
"His fusion magic is so cool, I've never seen it before."
Carl walked down the arena and his companions gathered around him excitedly.
"Karl, you're awesome! That fusion magic you just performed really amazed everyone." Leo said excitedly, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Yes, Carl, look at those audiences, they are all impressed by you." Ellie also said with a smile, her red hair even more dazzling in the sun.
Carl responded with a smile: "This is only the first round. The opponents behind will be stronger. We can't take it lightly."
In the audience, the judges were also whispering about Carl's performance.
"This Carl is no ordinary person. He is so skilled in combining magical elements. He is truly a genius." A judge exclaimed.
"Yes, his magic style is unique and his potential is unlimited." Another judge nodded in agreement.
An old professor at the side of the field was staring at Carl intently. His eyes were filled with surprise and reminiscence, as if he had seen something in the fusion magic Carl had used.
"This kind of magic... I seem to have seen it somewhere before," the old professor muttered to himself, his brow furrowed in thought. Suddenly, a glint flashed in his eyes, and he remembered a legendary battle ten thousand years ago. In that battle, a great wizard had used a similar fusion magic. It was a battle that shook the entire magical world and is still recounted today.
"Could it be... that he has some relationship with that magician?" The old professor pondered in his heart, and he decided to pay close attention to Carl's performance in the next competition.
As the first round of competition ended, some senior students began to notice the freshman Carl. In the corridor of the college, several senior students were discussing.
"Did you see that Carl? His performance in the competition was amazing."
"Yes, his magic is very unique. It seems we need to re-examine these new students."
"I wonder what amazing things he will do in the next competition."
Carl didn't know that he had attracted so much attention. After returning to the dormitory, he began to summarize the experience of the first round of competition and prepare for the next round of battle.
"I can be more precise in controlling the fusion magic, so as to reduce the consumption of magic power." Carl said to himself while flipping through the magic notes.
"Karl, don't be too tired. You have performed well enough today." Leo said, handing Karl a magic potion that can help restore magic power.
"Thank you, Leo. But I can't be satisfied with my current results. I want to become stronger." Carl took the potion and drank it all.
Over the next few days, the competition continued. Carl displayed great strength in every battle, constantly improving and innovating his magic, integrating more elements together to create one amazing magical skill after another.
In the second round, Carl faced an opponent skilled in light magic. Right off the bat, his opponent unleashed a dazzling beam of light, like a sun exploding, shooting towards Carl. Everything in its path was illuminated, forcing the spectators to close their eyes to avoid being stabbed.
Carl quickly cast a dark spell, creating an area of darkness. The darkness was like a black curtain, completely swallowing up the bright light. Then, within the darkness, he cast a spell that combined wind, water, and earth. He summoned a flock of birds made of mud, their wings clinging to sharp ice shards. Propelled by the wind, they flew towards their opponent.
The opponent was caught off guard by Carl's sudden counterattack. He quickly cast a shield magic, but Carl's attack was too fierce and the shield cracked under the impact of the bird.
"You're strong, but I won't give up easily," his opponent shouted. He cast a powerful light spell—Judgment of Light. A massive light array appeared in the sky, emitting countless rays of light. Like divine spears, they pierced Carl.
Carl gazed upon the powerful light magic without a trace of fear. He took a deep breath and cast the ultimate spell, a fusion of seven elements—Elemental Fury. A massive, rainbow-colored sphere appeared around him, imbued with powerful energy. When the light of Judgment of Light struck him, the Elemental Fury unleashed its immense force, completely neutralizing the light. The sphere then flew toward the opponent, exploding upon approaching, generating a powerful shockwave.
The opponent was blown away by the shockwave and fell heavily to the ground. Although he was protected by a shield, he was still seriously injured.
"Carl wins!" the referee announced again. The audience erupted in enthusiastic cheers once again, this time even louder than the last.
"Carl, Carl!" The audience shouted his name. They were completely conquered by Carl's wonderful performance.
Carl walked off the arena, his body a little exhausted, but his eyes remained firm. This battle made him realize that he still had a lot of room for improvement, especially when facing powerful light magic, which consumed too much magic power.
"Karl, are you okay?" Ellie ran over and asked with concern.
"I'm fine, I just used up a lot of magic power." Carl replied.
"Your performance today was amazing, especially the Elemental Fury, it was so shocking." Leo said.
At the judges' table, the judges' opinions of Carl grew higher and higher.
"This Carl always surprises us. His magical prowess and innovative abilities are outstanding."
"Yes, he can quickly find ways to deal with different types of opponents. He is truly a rare talent."
The old professor was still paying attention to Carl. He was very surprised by the Elemental Fury magic Carl used. He found that this magic had a deeper similarity with the ultimate magic in the legendary battle ten thousand years ago.
"Who is he? Why does he know these ancient and powerful magics?" The old professor was full of doubts. He decided to have a good talk with Carl after the competition.
As the competition progressed, Carl became the focus of the entire academy. His name spread throughout the academy, with students from junior to senior discussing his impressive performance. Some teachers also developed a keen interest in Carl, beginning to study his magical style and development trajectory, hoping to discover new methods for cultivating outstanding magicians.
In the third round, Carl encountered an even stronger opponent—a senior student who was already well-known in the academy. This senior student was skilled in spatial magic, and he could freely shuttle between different dimensions during battle, making him unpredictable.
As the competition began, the senior student cast a space transfer spell, and his figure instantly disappeared from Carl's sight. Carl looked around vigilantly, knowing that his opponent could attack from any direction at any time.
Suddenly, a spatial rift appeared behind Carl. A senior student reached out a hand from the rift and unleashed a powerful spatial distortion spell. The spatial distortion spread towards Carl, distorting the surrounding space wherever it passed. Carl felt as if his body was being pulled by an invisible force.
Carl quickly cast a spatial stabilization spell, attempting to counter the opponent's spatial distortion. Simultaneously, he unleashed an attack spell incorporating fire and lightning elements. He created a halo of flame and lightning around himself, which spread outward, attempting to locate his opponent.
The senior student moved freely in space and easily avoided Carl's attack. Then, he attacked again, creating a huge space vortex above Carl's head. The vortex contained a strong suction force, trying to suck Carl in.
Carl stared at the spatial vortex overhead. He knew he couldn't get sucked in, or he'd fall into his opponent's trap. He cast an earth magic spell—Pillars of Earth. Several massive stone pillars quickly rose from the ground, pushing toward the spatial vortex, attempting to break its suction.
As the stone pillars battled the spatial vortex, Carl concentrated his magical power and cast a newly developed fusion magic—the Space-Time Lock. This magic could lock space within a certain range, preventing the opponent from moving freely.
As the Space-Time Chain activated, the senior student felt the spatial restraint and was somewhat surprised. He attempted to break the Chain, but Carl had already seized the opportunity to attack. He cast a spell that combined wind, water, and light—the Purifying Wind. A powerful purifying wind blew toward the senior student, imbued with the power of light, capable of dispelling the forces of darkness and evil.
The senior student was hit hard by the wind of purification, and cracks began to appear on his shield. He knew that he couldn't continue like this, so he concentrated all his magic power, trying to break the lock of time and space, and then cast a powerful space magic to fight back.
Carl saw through his opponent's intentions and increased the magical output of the Space-Time Lock while simultaneously casting the ultimate fusion spell - Chaos Sphere. Chaos Sphere was a powerful spell he created by fusing all elements together, containing the power of both destruction and creation.
As the Chaos Ball flew towards the senior student, the entire arena was illuminated by its light. The senior student felt the Chaos Ball's powerful force and tried his best to dodge, but the constraints of the Space-Time Lock greatly affected his movements.
Finally, the Chaos Sphere struck the senior student, creating a massive explosion. The light and shockwaves of the blast engulfed the entire arena, leaving the audience speechless with shock at the sheer force.
When the smoke cleared, the senior student lay on the ground, his magic power exhausted and unable to fight anymore.
"Carl wins!" The referee's voice rang out again. This time, the audience was silent for a moment, then erupted into thunderous applause and cheers. They were deeply moved by Carl's thrilling battle. Carl had become a hero in their hearts.
Carl walked off the arena, his body extremely exhausted, but his face was filled with the joy of victory. He knew that this battle was the most difficult one he had ever encountered, but he won the victory with his own strength and wisdom.
"Carl, you are our pride!" Leo and Ellie hugged Carl excitedly, tears of excitement flashing in their eyes.
"Thank you, I couldn't have done it without your support," Carl said, his voice a little hoarse but full of emotion.
At the judges' table, the judges stood up and applauded. They praised Carl's performance highly. They knew that Carl was a rare magical genius in a century.
The old professor couldn't wait to talk to Carl. He knew Carl was hiding many secrets that could have a significant impact on the entire magical world. He decided to find him as soon as Carl rested.
Elsewhere in the academy, students who had previously disdained or envied Carl were now forced to acknowledge his prowess. They began to admire him and consider him a role model. Carl's impressive performance in the competition sparked a wave of enthusiasm for learning and innovating magic throughout the academy.
