Class turmoil

As Carl entered the elite class, a strong magical atmosphere washed over him. The classroom was spacious and bright, its walls inlaid with giant magic crystals that emitted a soft glow, illuminating the room like daylight. The ceiling was painted with exquisite magic circles, its intricate lines and mysterious symbols seemingly flowing, telling a story of ancient and powerful magic. Desks and chairs were neatly arranged, each engraved with small magical runes to help students better appreciate and understand magic during their studies.

A number of students were already seated in the classroom, most of them hailing from prosperous magical cities or prestigious magical families. Their every move exuded an innate sense of superiority. As soon as Carl entered, he felt several scrutinizing gazes falling on him, filled with curiosity, suspicion, and even some disdain.

Carl found an empty seat in a corner of the classroom and sat down. His deskmate was a girl with short golden hair. She glanced at Carl with a hint of surprise in her eyes, but quickly turned her head away and started talking quietly with the classmate next to her.

"I heard that this Carl came from a remote town. I really don't know how he passed the entrance exam."

"Humph, maybe it's just luck. This is an elite class, not a place where just anybody can stay."

These whispers reached Karl's ears, but he just smiled and didn't care. He knew that here, he needed to prove himself with his strength, rather than arguing with these people.

However, trouble soon arose. A tall, muscular man approached Carl. He was Renekton. He came from an ancient and powerful magical family, and his family's glory had imbued him with arrogance and conceit from a young age. He stood in front of Carl's desk, looking down at him with contempt in his eyes.

"Are you Carl? The guy from the remote town?" Renekton's voice was so loud that the classroom suddenly became quiet and all eyes were on them.

Carl raised his head and looked at Renekton calmly: "It's me, what's the matter?"

"I just wanted to see what kind of person could stand out in the entrance exam. But now it seems that he is just so-so." Renekton said sarcastically.

Carl frowned slightly: "How I perform seems to have nothing to do with you. I am only here to learn magic."

"Learning magic? You? Don't let us leave you far behind and make a fool of yourself without even realizing it." Several followers around Renekton also laughed.

Karl stood up, his eyes became firm: “I will prove my strength, but not by arguing with you.”

Renekton sneered. "Proof? Then I'll give you a chance. Do you dare to challenge me to a magic duel? If you don't dare, then leave this class as soon as possible and don't embarrass yourself here."

Carl knew this showdown was inevitable. He took a deep breath and said, "Okay, I accept your challenge, but I hope you won't regret it."

The students made room for each other and gathered around excitedly, anticipating the showdown. Some were cheering for Renekton, after all, he had already demonstrated his formidable abilities in class; others were eager to see what Carl, a boy from a remote town, would have to offer.

Renekton struck first. He waved his wand and chanted, "Flame Blast!" A massive flame erupted from his wand, like a ferocious dragon, lunging at Carl with bared fangs and claws. Wherever the flames touched, the air distorted and the temperature soared.

"Hmph, is this your true strength?" Carl calmly cast the "Water Curtain Sky Flower" spell. With a gentle wave of his wand, the surrounding water vapor quickly gathered, forming a vast, solid curtain of water. The crystal-clear curtain, like a giant mirror, completely blocked the flames. As the flames and the curtain met, a sizzling sound emanated, and a vast cloud of steam rose, filling the entire classroom.

"You're quite capable, but this is just the beginning." A flicker of surprise flashed across Renekton's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by disdain. He cast another spell, "Malta Fist!" His right fist was enveloped in a layer of molten lava, which flowed and radiated a terrifying heat. He charged towards Carl, leaving a flaming footprint on the ground with each step.

Seeing this, Carl cast his "Wind Guardian" spell. A powerful whirlwind formed around him, acting as an invisible shield, blocking Renekton's attacks. Molten Fist struck the whirlwind, scattering the lava into tiny sparks.

"Is that all you can do?" Carl said calmly. He didn't want to take the initiative to attack, he just wanted to make Renekton give up.

Renekton, enraged, pointed his wand toward the sky and shouted, "Meteorites!" Suddenly, several massive meteorites appeared from the sky, blazing and trailing long, flaming tails as they plummeted towards Carl. The force of the meteorites was immense, each one possessing enough power to destroy a house.

Carl's eyes glared. He knew he couldn't afford to passively defend himself any longer. He cast the "Earth Shield" spell, and a massive earthen shield quickly rose from the ground. The shield was incredibly thick, its surface etched with intricate magical runes. These runes shimmered, enhancing its defensive power. The meteorite struck the shield with a deafening roar, shaking the entire classroom. While the shield blocked the meteorite, some cracks appeared.

"You forced me to do this!" Renekton roared, casting a powerful forbidden spell. A circle of black light appeared around him, imbued with an evil and powerful force. His eyes grew frantic, and he uttered an ancient and obscure incantation.

Sensing danger, Carl focused his attention, preparing to counter Renekton's attack. As Renekton cast his spell, Carl keenly perceived a unique rhythm within it, a rhythm similar to the forbidden magic he had heard of in an ancient magical tribe in his past life. He was startled, puzzled as to why Renekton would cast such a dangerous spell.

"Rekton, you can't use forbidden spells! It will hurt everyone!" A teacher's voice sounded outside the classroom, but it was too late.

Renekton's forbidden spell was complete. He shouted, "Darkness consumes!" A wave of black energy spread from his body, engulfing everything in its path. Tables and chairs shattered, the light of the magic crystal was suppressed, and the surrounding students fell into panic.

Carl knew he had to stop Renekton. He closed his eyes, recalling his magical memories from his past life, searching for a way to counter the attack. Suddenly, an idea struck him. He cast a "Light Purification" spell, an ancient magic he had stumbled upon in his past life. He chanted the incantation, and a dazzling white light emanated from his wand. The light grew stronger, forming a massive ball of light. The ball of light rushed towards the wave of dark energy, and the two collided, unleashing a burst of intense light and a shockwave.

Under the light, the darkness gradually dissipated, and Renekton collapsed to the ground due to exhaustion of magic power. Although Carl also consumed a lot of magic power, he still stood firmly.

The classroom was in a mess, and the students were all stunned. They hadn't expected the duel to be so intense, and they hadn't expected Renekton to use a forbidden spell.

"You...how do you know this kind of magic?" Renekton asked weakly, his eyes filled with surprise and fear.

"This is not your concern. You used forbidden spells and almost caused a disaster." Carl said seriously.

At that moment, the teacher rushed into the classroom. He stared at the scene before him, his brow furrowed. "What are you doing? Renekton, you disappoint me so much! Using forbidden spells—do you know how dangerous that is? And Carl, even though you stopped him, you shouldn't have accepted such a dangerous challenge."

Karl was about to explain, but the teacher waved his hand: “All of you come to the office with me.”

In the teacher's office, Carl and Renekton stood in front of the teacher, and the atmosphere was very solemn.

"Rekton, tell me first, why did you use the forbidden spell?" the teacher asked sternly.

Renekton lowered his head. "I... I just wanted to teach him a lesson. I didn't expect it to turn out like this."

"A lesson? Is that a reason for you to use the forbidden spell? You almost destroyed the entire classroom and hurt all the students." The teacher said angrily.

“Teacher, I am also wrong. I shouldn’t have accepted his challenge.” Karl took the initiative to take responsibility.

The teacher looked at Carl, his expression softening slightly. "Carl, I know you're trying to protect your dignity, but in the academy, we can't solve problems this way. Especially when it comes to forbidden spells, this is absolutely forbidden."

"I understand, teacher. I will pay attention next time." Carl said.

"Rekton, go back and reflect on your actions. Carl, you go back too. I hope you won't cause such trouble again." The teacher waved his hand.

Carl walked out of the teacher's office feeling exhausted. This incident made him realize that in this elite class, he not only had to face the pressure of studying, but also had to deal with these complex interpersonal relationships and potential dangers.

Back in the classroom, his classmates looked at Carl with mixed feelings. Some were filled with admiration, for he had, after all, stopped Renekton's forbidden spell; others were still suspicious and jealous. Carl ignored these glances, returning to his seat and reflecting on what had happened today.

"Karl, are you okay?" the girl at the same table asked softly.

"I'm fine, thank you for your concern." Karl replied with a smile.

"You were really brave just now, but Renekton won't let you go, so you have to be careful," the girl warned.

"I know, but I'm not afraid of him." A hint of determination flashed in Carl's eyes.

In the days that followed, Carl diligently studied magic, researching various materials in the library and practicing diligently on the training grounds. His strength continued to improve, and his performance in class became increasingly outstanding. However, he did not forget Renekton's affairs. He knew that Renekton's hostility towards him had not subsided, and he needed to remain vigilant.

Once, in a corner of the library, Carl was concentrating on reading an ancient magic book. Suddenly, he felt someone approaching. He looked up and saw Renekton standing before him.

"Carl, we're not done yet." Renekton said coldly.

"Rekton, what else do you want? Wasn't the last lesson enough?" Carl stood up and looked at him warily.

"I was careless last time. I won't lose to you again this time." Renekton clenched his fists.

"I don't want to have any more conflicts with you. We should focus on learning magic instead of fighting." Carl tried to persuade Renekton.

"Hmph, don't try to convince me. I must prove that I am better than you." After saying this, Renekton turned and left the library.

Carl looked at Renekton's back and shook his head helplessly. He knew that the conflict between him and Renekton had to be resolved, otherwise it would affect his studies and life in the academy.

During a magic practice class, students were divided into groups to conduct a magic experiment. Carl was in a group with several classmates, including Renekton. During the experiment, Renekton deliberately disrupted the experiment, causing a problem. A powerful magical force went out of control and rushed towards the surrounding students.

"Everyone, be careful!" Carl shouted, and immediately cast a "magic shield" spell to protect the students around him. Then, he began to try to control the out-of-control magic. He focused his mind, using his unique understanding of the elements of magic to guide the out-of-control magic back on track.

"Rekton, what are you doing? Do you want to kill everyone?" A classmate angrily accused Rekton.

"Humph, it was just an accident." Renekton said disapprovingly.

"You clearly did it on purpose!" Carl looked at Renekton, his eyes filled with anger.

"So what?" Renekton looked at Carl provocatively.

Carl knew he couldn't let Renekton continue to act recklessly. He walked up to Renekton and said, "Let's go out and solve our problems, and don't let anyone else get involved."

"Okay, that's exactly what I was thinking." Renekton followed Carl out of the classroom.

They came to a remote corner of the college where few people passed by.

"Rekton, why are you doing this? We could have lived in peace." Carl asked.

"Live in peace? In my eyes, you are just a lowly person from a remote town, not worthy of being in the same class with me. I want you to know that this is my territory." Renekton said viciously.

"Your idea is too stupid. There is no distinction between high and low in magic. Everyone has the right to learn and grow." Carl retorted.

"Enough of the nonsense. Let's end this today." Renekton cast his spell once more, unleashing his family's signature technique, "Firestorm." The surrounding air ignited, forming a massive vortex of flames that swept toward Carl.

This time, Carl didn't retreat. He cast a new spell, "Ice and Fire Purgatory." He skillfully fused the elements of ice and fire, forming a realm of intertwined ice and fire. As the vortex of flames entered the Ice and Fire Purgatory, it was gradually weakened by the ice element, while the fire elemental countered Renekton's flames.

"You can actually fuse ice and fire?" Renekton said in surprise.

"This is just the new magic I learned. There are many things you don't know." Carl said.

In the battle between ice and fire, Carl gradually gained the upper hand. He increased his magic output, and the ice and fire purgatory continued to expand, approaching Renekton.

Renekton felt the pressure and began to cast magic desperately, but his magic power was not as strong as before. Under Carl's attack, he gradually fell into a disadvantage.

"Rekton, give up, let's not fight anymore." Carl persuaded.

"No! I can't lose!" Renekton roared, and he once again cast a dangerous magic that enhanced his magical power at the expense of his own vitality.

Carl was shocked when he saw Renekton's actions: "Rekton, don't do this! You will kill yourself!"

But Renekton was no longer listening. A blood-red light appeared around his body, and his magic became even stronger. He launched an even more fierce attack on Carl.

Carl had no choice but to fight with all his might. He pushed his magic to the limit and launched a life-or-death duel with Renekton.

In the fierce battle, Carl discovered Renekton's weakness. Seizing the opportunity, he cast a "Magic Seal" spell, temporarily sealing Renekton's magical power. Renekton's attack abruptly ceased, and he collapsed to the ground, his face as pale as paper.

"Rekton, you are too impulsive. For a momentary victory, you are willing to sacrifice your own life." Carl walked to Renekton and said to him.

"I... I'm unwilling..." Renekton said weakly.

"There is no need for us to be enemies. On the path of magic, we can learn from each other and make progress together," said Carl.

Renekton didn't say anything, but a complex look flashed in his eyes, showing unwillingness and a hint of regret.
