The morning sun streamed through the windows onto the nursery, bringing a touch of life and energy to the entire space. I arrived at the nursery promptly at 8 a.m. and greeted the lovely children with a smile. Their innocent smiles brightened my mood.

I then walked into the office and gently turned on the desktop computer on my desk. The screen flickered faintly, reflecting my focused expression. I quickly clicked the mouse and entered the summer camp registration system. My fingers danced briskly across the keyboard as I carefully entered the details of the accompanying social worker. The social worker would accompany the children throughout the camp, providing them with care and guidance to ensure the smooth running of the summer camp activities.

After completing this step, I opened Lele's health record and carefully reviewed her physical examination results. After confirming that everything was correct, I uploaded this important report to the system. This way, summer camp organizers can keep abreast of each child's physical condition and better address their needs.

As time went by, I immersed myself in my work, constantly perfecting every detail. The peaceful atmosphere of the nursery made me feel incredibly safe, as if it were a small world filled with hope and warmth. And I, the guardian of this small world, dedicated myself to nurturing the growth of every child.

After finishing all the materials, I looked at the time and it was 10:30. I went to the classroom to check on Lotta and the children. They were very attentive, their faces full of excitement and exploration. Seeing how wonderful the children were, I decided to go to the cafeteria to see what they had for lunch and give them a snack.

"Auntie Ola, what's for lunch today?" I asked as I walked into the restaurant. Although I love cooking, I can't always follow my own preferences. I still need to understand the ingredients the restaurant has to offer. After all, a balanced diet is the key to a balanced diet!

"Teacher Sui Sui, we're going to have beef for lunch today. Other side dishes include tomatoes, potatoes and cabbage." Aunt Ola replied with a smile.

When I heard the restaurant was having tomatoes and beef today, two delicious dishes immediately came to mind: beef brisket with tomatoes and shredded cabbage. Not only were they delicious, but they were also rich in vitamins and protein, making them perfect for children. Without hesitation, I said to Auntie Ola, "Auntie Ola, I'll make beef brisket with tomatoes and shredded cabbage for the children."

However, Auntie Ola looked skeptical, as if she didn't quite believe I could make a delicious dish. She smiled and said to me, "Teacher Sui Sui, why don't you just tell me how to cook and I'll do it." I wasn't angry at Auntie Ola's distrust; instead, I found it a little amusing. It seemed I had to show off my culinary skills.

I smiled and said to Aunt Ola, "Aunt Ola, don't worry, I will do it well. If you are worried, you can watch from the side." After that, I started to prepare the ingredients.

Prepare ingredients for beef brisket with tomatoes: wash the beef brisket and cut into pieces about 3 cm square; wash the tomatoes, make a cross cut on the bottom, blanch them in boiling water, peel them, and cut them into small pieces for later use; slice the ginger, crush the garlic, and cut the green onion into sections.

Blanching to remove fishy smell: Put the beef brisket pieces into a pot of cold water, add a few slices of ginger and appropriate amount of cooking wine, bring to a boil over high heat, skim off the foam, remove the beef brisket pieces, rinse with clean water, and drain the moisture.

Stir-fry spices: Pour a proper amount of oil into the pan. When the oil is hot, add peppercorns, dried chilies (if using), star anise, cinnamon and other spices and stir-fry until fragrant. Then remove the spices and keep the bottom oil (you can choose whether to add spices according to your personal taste in this step).

Stir-fry tomatoes: Add half of the tomato pieces to the base oil and stir-fry until red sand appears. This will make the soup richer.

To stew the beef brisket: Place the blanched beef brisket into the pot and stir-fry with the tomatoes. Add light and dark soy sauce to adjust the color and season. Add just enough boiling water to cover the beef brisket. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low and simmer. The stewing time will vary depending on the tenderness of the beef brisket, but generally takes 1-2 hours, until it is tender and flavorful.

Add the remaining tomatoes: After the beef brisket is stewed until soft, add the remaining tomato pieces into the pot and continue stewing for a few minutes to allow the flavor of the tomatoes to fully blend into the soup.

Seasoning: Add appropriate amount of salt and sugar (if you like sweet taste) according to your personal taste. If you want the soup to be thicker, you can turn up the heat and reduce the juice slightly. Finally, sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve.

Looking at the tomato beef brisket I made, Aunt Ola looked at me in disbelief, "Aunt Ola, I can't say anything about other things, but I can make some common home-cooked dishes." Next, I'm going to make shredded cabbage.

Ingredients preparation

Cabbage: Adjust according to the number of people eating.

Garlic: Slice or crush.

Dried chili peppers: Use as needed, cut into sections or use whole, and adjust the spiciness according to personal taste.

Sichuan peppercorns: a few, for flavor.

Cooking oil: appropriate amount

Seasoning: light soy sauce, salt, and a little sugar or vinegar according to personal taste.

Production steps

To process the cabbage:

Wash the cabbage and remove the outer old leaves and roots.

Tear the cabbage into chunks of appropriate size by hand, not by cutting. This helps create irregular edges that are more flavorful. Soak the torn pieces in clean water for a while to remove any pesticide residue and impurities, then drain.

Prepare the ingredients:

Slice or crush the garlic, cut the dried chili into sections, and wash the Sichuan peppercorns and set aside.

Stir-frying process:

Heat the pan with cold oil, add peppercorns after the oil is hot, fry on low heat until fragrant, then remove from the pan, add dried chilies and garlic slices, and stir-fry until fragrant.

Heat oil in a pan over high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the drained cabbage and stir-fry quickly. Be sure to stir-fry quickly so that the cabbage is evenly cooked and retains its crispy texture.

When the cabbage starts to soften and become translucent, add an appropriate amount of light soy sauce to season and salt to taste. If you like a sweet and sour taste, you can also add a little sugar and vinegar.

Continue to stir-fry quickly and evenly to allow the seasoning to fully penetrate the cabbage. When the cabbage is fully cooked and flavorful, turn off the heat and remove from the pan.

I expertly chopped the ingredients, added them to the pan and stir-fried them. Soon, a delicious dish emerged. Aunt Aura's eyes widened as she looked at me in surprise. "Teacher Sui Sui, I never knew you had such a skill!" Her tone was filled with admiration and surprise.

I smiled sheepishly and said modestly, "It's nothing, I just like cooking." But in my heart I was still a little proud.

I had just divided the dishes when I heard a buzz of chatter. It was the children running out of the classroom. Lotta was busy organizing everyone to wash their hands and get ready for dinner. Watching the children line up to wash their hands, then sit down at the table and quietly enjoy their meal, I felt particularly happy.

The children finished their meal quickly, rinsed their mouths, and ran to the grass, where they sat together, waiting for me to tell them a story. The sunlight shone on them, casting a brilliant light.

I walked to the children and asked with a smile, "Dear ones, are the dishes today delicious? Let me tell you a secret, two of the dishes for lunch today were made by Teacher Sui Sui!" I looked at them expectantly, hoping to get some feedback.

"Wow, Teacher Sui Sui, you're awesome!" Bailey was the first to shout, her big eyes sparkling with excitement. The other children chimed in, praising me.

"Teacher Sui Sui, you are so awesome," Carl said in a low voice, but his eyes also revealed his admiration for me.

I smiled happily, touched by the children's recognition. It felt so good to realize that even a small effort of mine could bring joy to others. Then, I began to tell the children a story. They listened with gusto, bursting into laughter from time to time. In that moment, I felt an unprecedented sense of satisfaction, as if the whole world had become a better place.
