Chapter 6: Awakening in Crisis

Yun Junrui stood at the gate of Xiangguo Temple, his heart as heavy as the weather itself amidst the drizzling rain. Abbot Jingkong's words echoed in his mind: "The one you owe has returned. It's time to repay." These simple words pierced his heart like a sharp blade. An inexplicable fear and uneasiness welled up within him, as if an inescapable storm were approaching.

He looked around. Xiangguo Temple, bathed in the spring rain, seemed tranquil and mysterious, as if cut off from the world. Raindrops dripped from the eaves, creating tiny splashes, and the air was filled with the scent of moist earth. Yet, this tranquility couldn't soothe the turmoil within him. He couldn't help but ask himself: was it the rain that made him feel so melancholy, or was it the words he couldn't let go of?

With a heavy heart, Yun Junrui set out on the official road back to the Eastern Palace. Rainwater trickled down his cloak, but the chill within him remained unshaken. Suddenly, he heard movement on the road ahead. A group of men in black appeared like ghosts, surrounding him.

"Protect His Highness!" Mo Yan shouted, drawing his sword. But in the chaotic exchange, a hidden spear silently streaked through the air, striking Yun Junrui's right arm. He hadn't noticed, and the sharp pain instantly slammed through him, slowing his movements. Mo Yan quickly stepped forward, blocking Yun Junrui's path, his expression etched with determination and resolve. "Your Highness, hurry! I'll cover you, you and the Dragon Guards go first!"

Mo Yan fought recklessly, his movements swift and fierce amidst the flashes of swords and sabers, as if he was using all his might to defy the injustice of fate. The enemy kept approaching, but he didn't flinch. After desperately hacking away at a man in black, he suddenly grabbed Yun Junrui, who had collapsed to the ground due to the poison. His internal energy surged wildly, and he pushed Yun Junrui out of the encirclement.

In this life-or-death moment, a man in black seized the opportunity and suddenly stabbed Mo Yan in the abdomen with a scimitar. Despite the excruciating pain, Mo Yan gritted his teeth and refused to collapse. Fortunately, Mo Dong, Mo Nan, Mo Xi, and Mo Bei arrived in time and eliminated the men in black, breaking the encirclement.

Mo Xian quickly carried the poison-induced, unconscious Yun Junrui into the carriage. The wheels sped along the muddy official road, heading straight for the Eastern Palace. The sound of rain pounding on the roof was like an ominous prelude.

Luo Qi lived in a side hall of the Eastern Palace. Upon hearing the news of the Crown Prince's assassination, he felt an unprecedented sense of urgency. He and Yun Junrui had grown up together. Though cousins, their bond transcended blood. His father was the Duke of Dingguo, and his grandfather was the Old Duke of Dingguo, both of whom came from prominent families. However, Luo Qi had always been interested in medicine, not the swordplay of his grandfather, father, or brothers.

Rocky calmly treated Yun Junrui, but his anxiety was unbearable. While the Night Phantom poison in the prince had been temporarily suppressed, the assassination attempt had unleashed a deadly new poison—the Styx Chill. The two intertwined, creating a strange equilibrium within the prince's body. This might buy Yun Junrui some time, but Rocky knew it was only temporary relief; the true crisis lay ahead.

Luo Qi looked at the unconscious Yun Junrui, feeling a heavy sense of helplessness in his heart. As the crown prince of the Tianqi Dynasty, Yun Junrui's fate seemed tightly entangled with countless conspiracies and curses. And Luo Qi, as a doctor, could do so little.

Yun Junrui lay in bed, unconscious, his mind still filled with that suffocating dream. In his dream, Bai Mengyao, her smile concealed a cruel heart. She had once been the person he trusted most, yet she had pushed him into the abyss of despair. She had used the cold of the Styx to cause his body to collapse, leaving him to watch helplessly as the entire Apocalypse Dynasty fell.

Yun Junrui was filled with pain and regret, longing to awaken from this nightmare and regain control of his own destiny. He knew that only by finding the rumored last disciple could he untie the poison entangled in his body. Yun Junrui was determined that no matter how difficult the road ahead, he would persevere and find a way to save himself.

As the night deepened, Yun Junrui suddenly awoke in agony. The oppression in his chest and the surging toxins in his body made it almost impossible to breathe. He struggled to open his eyes, and through his blurred vision, he saw Rocky guarding his bedside.

"Rocky..." Yun Junrui's voice was hoarse and weak, but his tone revealed an unquestionable determination, "Quick, suppress the poison in your body. I must go find that person myself."

Upon hearing this, Luo Qi's eyes flashed with shock. He leaned over to Yun Junrui, his voice tinged with urgency, "Your Highness, you are still very weak. Any rash action might only exacerbate the poison. Let me go find someone, and you rest first. That's the only way to hope."

"It's too late," Yun Junrui shook his head, trying his best to stay awake. "This poison... I understand. The longer we delay, the less hope I have. Only I can find the clue to the antidote. Rocky, I believe you can do it. Quickly suppress the poison."

Luo Qi hesitated for a moment, but seeing the determination and resoluteness in Yun Junrui's eyes, he couldn't refuse. He knew that Yun Junrui was the crown prince of the Tianqi Dynasty and shouldered too many responsibilities. He couldn't retreat at this critical moment.

"Okay, I will try my best to help you suppress the poison, but you must promise me that you will not use your power easily again, otherwise the consequences will be disastrous." As Rocky spoke, he quickly prepared to give Yun Junrui an acupuncture injection to temporarily stabilize the toxins in his body.

As the silver needles pierced his body, Yun Junrui felt the toxins in his body temporarily suppressed, but he knew it was only a temporary relief. He looked at Rocky, his eyes filled with gratitude and reluctance. "Rocky, thank you so much... but please rest assured, I won't give up my life easily. I will definitely find someone who can save me."

Luo Qi gently pressed Yun Junrui's pulse point, confirming that the poison had been stabilized, and then slowly stood up: "Your Highness, I will go with you all the way."

Yun Junrui nodded slightly. Despite his frail body, an unprecedented strength ignited within him. He had to face all of this personally and find a way out for himself and the Tianqi Dynasty.

The night in the East Palace grew darker, the sound of rain lingering outside the window. Luo Qi, Mo Yan, and the others silently guarded Yun Junrui's bedside, a tense atmosphere shrouding the room. Every moment seemed like a wait for fate's judgment. Could Yun Junrui survive this ordeal? What would his future hold? Everything was filled with uncertainty and suspense.
