Who is "S"? This question lingered in my mind like a fog. The figure in the photo was blurry, but I could sense Lu Yuxuan's shock and fear, a tremor from the depths of his soul, as if something was about to burst out, but was blocked by an invisible barrier.

The "S" instructions were clear: head to the North City Pier. We had no choice but to trust him. The car sped through the night, the light and shadows of the streetlights intertwined, like our frantic thoughts. Suddenly, a sharp brake sound pierced the night sky. Lawrence Lu swerved the steering wheel, narrowly avoiding the oncoming truck.

"Damn it! It's them!" Lu Yuxuan growled, his face ashen.

Before we could even think, several black cars had already surrounded us. The doors opened, and a dozen men in black, armed with weapons, approached us.

"Get out of the car!" the leading man in black ordered viciously.

We were forced to the end of the pier, with the icy water behind us and no way to retreat. The man in black pressed on, and Lawrence Lu protected me behind him, his eyes sharp and his body emitting an icy aura.

"Yuxuan, what should we do?" I grabbed his sleeve tightly, my voice trembling.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here." He whispered comfortingly, his tone firm.

At that moment, a gunshot pierced the night sky, and flames suddenly shot up from the dock. The men in black were startled by this sudden change, and before they could react, a figure appeared before them like a ghost.

He was tall, wearing a black windbreaker and a wide-brimmed hat pulled low, obscuring his features. In his hand was a black pistol, smoke still emitting from the muzzle.

"S?!" Lawrence Lu exclaimed, his tone filled with disbelief.

"S" didn't say anything. He turned to face the men in black, slowly raised the muzzle of his gun, and pointed it at the leading man in black. "Who are you? Why are you hunting down the Lu family?"

The leading man in black sneered, "S? Who are you? Mind your own business!"

"S" raised the corner of his mouth and revealed a cold smile, "I'll take care of it!"

As soon as he finished speaking, gunshots rang out again, and the leading man in black fell to the ground. Seeing this, the remaining men in black immediately opened fire at "S". For a moment, gunshots were heard and flames flew everywhere.

"S" was agile and dodged with ease, while constantly fighting back with precise and ruthless shooting skills. The men in black fell one after another.

I hid behind Lawrence Lu, nervously watching everything that was happening in front of me, my heart in my throat.

"S" quickly dealt with all the men in black. He put away his pistol, turned to look at us, and took off his hat.

In the dim light, I finally saw his face clearly. It was a face that had been weathered, with wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, but his eyes were still sharp and bright.

"You are...?" Lu Yuxuan asked tentatively.

"I'm an old friend of your grandfather. You can call me Old K." Old K said lightly, "I have been secretly protecting your Lu family all these years."

"Protect us?" Lawrence Lu was puzzled. "Why?"

Old K sighed and said, "Your grandfather developed an important scientific achievement. If this achievement were used by bad people, the consequences would be disastrous. Your grandfather was hunted down because of this achievement. I risked my life to rescue him. But those people didn't give up. They kept searching for the whereabouts of this achievement, so all these years, I have been secretly protecting you."

Lawrence Lu suddenly realized that all this was due to the scientific and technological achievements developed by his grandfather!

"Who are those people? Why do they want to achieve this result?" Lu Yuxuan asked.

Old K shook his head. "I don't know who they are specifically. I only know they're a very large and mysterious organization, and they're incredibly powerful. As for why they want this achievement, I don't know either, but I'm certain their motives are definitely not simple!"

Lawrence Lu was silent for a moment, his eyes becoming resolute. "I absolutely cannot let them succeed! I must protect Grandpa's hard work and my family!" Old K's words made us realize that this battle wasn't just about self-preservation, but also about protecting the Lu family's honor and future. I clenched my fists, my eyes becoming resolute. Even for Lawrence Lu, I would fight with all my might!

"Chenxi, butler, let's go too!" I shouted and rushed out first.

Chenxi and the butler exchanged a glance, then followed me without hesitation. While we didn't have the skills of Old K, we weren't powerless. Chenxi had been practicing Taekwondo since childhood, making her agile; the butler was a veteran with extensive experience; and I, while lacking any special skills, could use my wisdom and courage to help them.

The three of us fought side by side with Lao K, engaging in a fierce battle with the enemy. The sounds of gunfire, fighting, and roars intertwined, and the entire warehouse turned into a chaotic battlefield.

I hid behind a pile of cargo, observing the battle. Although the enemy was numerous, they seemed untrained and their attacks were haphazard. An idea struck me, and I shouted to Chenxi, "Chenxi, draw their attention and lead them to that pile of oil drums!"

Chenxi understood the hint and deliberately exposed his position, luring several enemies over. The enemies fell for the trick and opened fire on Chenxi. Chenxi nimbly dodged the bullets, luring them to the oil drum, then dodged behind a pillar.

"Butler, it's now!" I shouted.

The butler was ready. He picked up a fire axe and threw it at the oil barrel. The fire axe hit the barrel accurately, and flames shot up into the sky and the explosion was deafening.

The shockwave from the explosion knocked all nearby enemies to the ground, and the entire warehouse was engulfed in flames. We took advantage of the chaos to rush out of the warehouse and escape to a safe place.

Although we suffered heavy losses in this battle, we ultimately achieved victory. The Lu family's years of crisis were finally resolved at this moment.

We fled the burning warehouse exhausted, each of us injured, but fortunately, we were all still alive. Lu Yuxuan held my hand tightly, his eyes full of fear. I knew he was afraid of losing me.

"Lolo, are you okay? Are you hurt?" He checked my body anxiously, his tone full of worry.

I shook my head and forced a smile. "I'm fine. How about you? Old K said you were injured?"

He paused, his eyes flickering, as if he wanted to hide something, but he finally sighed, rolled up his sleeves, revealing a hideous wound that was still oozing blood.

"It's just a minor injury, nothing serious." He said lightly, but I knew that with his personality, he would never tell me he was injured if it wasn't to reassure me.

I looked at his wound with heartache, tears welling up in my eyes. Although we won this battle, the price we paid was extremely heavy.

Old K walked up to us and said solemnly, "Mr. Lu, Ms. Lin, although we won this time, there are even greater forces behind those people. This is just the beginning, and they will definitely not give up."

Lawrence Lu’s eyes were stern, and he asked in a deep voice: “Old K, do you know who they are? Why are they targeting the Lu family?”

Old K shook his head and said in a heavy tone, "Their identities are very secretive. I haven't found them out yet, but what is certain is that their goal is..."
