That night, that strange laughter echoed in my mind for a long time, lingering. Lawrence Lu hugged me tightly, trying to give me a sense of security, but I could feel the tension in his body. He knew that we were facing unprecedented danger.

The next morning, we summoned the butler to discuss countermeasures. We couldn't just sit there and wait for death; we had to take the initiative, find the mysterious man, and understand his motives. The butler had served the Lu family for many years and was well-informed and well-connected. He might be able to help us find some clues.

"Sir, Madam, I've already found some clues." The butler pushed his glasses up on his nose, his expression serious. "That mysterious man is probably hiding in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. It used to be a laboratory for a high-tech company, but it was abandoned due to a fire and has been uninhabited ever since."

Lawrence Lu made a prompt decision: “Okay, let’s go now!”

I knew this journey was incredibly dangerous, but to protect my family and uncover the truth, I had to face it bravely. My housekeeper found some equipment to help us disguise ourselves and avoid possible surveillance. As night fell, the three of us drove to the outskirts of the city, heading towards the mysterious abandoned factory.

The abandoned factory lay desolate, overgrown with weeds, and its crumbling walls looked eerie in the night. Using the faint moonlight, we cautiously crept inside. It was empty and silent, with only the occasional squeaking of rats adding to the eerie atmosphere.

We groped our way forward and finally found a hidden iron door behind a pile of abandoned machinery. The butler, using his years of lockpicking skills, opened the door. Behind the door was a long corridor. The walls on both sides of the corridor were covered with dense wires and pipes, flickering with an eerie light.

At the end of the corridor was a heavy metal door. We took a deep breath, braced ourselves, and pushed it open.

The door slowly opened, and a chilling air filled the air. Before us lay a vast laboratory, a dazzling array of high-tech equipment and instruments. In the center of the lab sat a massive incubator filled with pale blue liquid, within which a faint, humanoid figure could be seen suspended.

"What is this place? What experiments are they doing?" I asked in a low voice, my heart full of confusion and anxiety.

"Shh!" Lu Yuxuan made a gesture of silence, indicating that we should continue to move forward and find the answer.

In the corner of the laboratory, there were some experimental records and documents. As we looked through them, we discovered a shocking secret...

Documents scattered across the table, written in scribbled handwriting, revealed a madcap plan. The owner of the experimental records, a scientist named Morrison, was dedicated to researching time travel and genetic modification, aiming to control the world by manipulating future technology. And within those incubators lay his "masterpiece"—genetically engineered new humans, a puppet army for the future world.

"Madman! He is absolutely crazy!" I looked at the scene in disbelief, and a chill ran from the soles of my feet to my heart.

"It seems we have found the right place and the right person." Lawrence Lu's voice was low and calm, but I knew that his heart must be full of anger at this moment.

At this moment, the lights in the laboratory suddenly dimmed, and a gloomy voice echoed in the empty laboratory: "Welcome to my world, you stupid guys."

A figure in a white coat and with gray hair slowly walked out of the shadows, the remote control in his hand flashing a dangerous light. "Morrison!" Lawrence Lu gritted his teeth and said the name.

"You shouldn't bother me!" Morrison's expression turned ferocious. "My research is about to succeed, and I will become the ruler of the new world!"

"Don't even think about succeeding!" Lu Yuxuan protected me behind him and bravely faced Morrison together with the butler.

A fierce battle erupted instantly. Morrison, despite his age, was incredibly agile, evidently the result of special training. He manipulated the various instruments and equipment in the laboratory, launching a fierce attack on us. Laser beams, electromagnetic waves, poison gas bombs... all kinds of deadly weapons followed one after another, forcing us to retreat step by step.

"Hahaha, you can't beat me!" Morrison laughed arrogantly, with a crazy light flashing in his eyes.

Just then, I saw a red button on the laboratory console flashing a dazzling light. Next to the button, in bold font, was the word "Self-destruct Device."

"Oh no! He's going to blow up the lab!" I exclaimed, my heart filled with fear.

"Let's go!" Lu Yuxuan made a prompt decision, pulled me and the housekeeper, and ran desperately out of the laboratory.

"Want to leave? Not that easy!" Morrison pressed the self-destruct button, the entire laboratory shook violently, and the alarm sounded through the sky.

We ran as hard as we could, the explosions behind us getting closer and closer, and the breath of death enveloped us...

The deafening explosion caused the laboratory ceiling to collapse, and flames and smoke instantly engulfed everything. We were thrown to the ground by the blast, and chaos ensued.

"Cough cough cough..." I struggled to get up from the ground. The choking smoke made it almost impossible for me to breathe. I anxiously looked for Lawrence Lu and the housekeeper, my heart filled with fear and despair.

"Lolo! I'm here!" Lu Yuxuan's voice came from not far away. I looked in the direction of the voice and saw him half-kneeling on the ground, covering his arm with one hand, and blood oozing from between his fingers.

"You're hurt!" I quickly ran to him and supported his shaky body.

"I'm fine, just a minor injury." Lawrence Lu endured the pain and gave me a comforting smile, "Where's the housekeeper?"

We looked around, but there was no sign of the butler. "Butler! Where are you?" I shouted, my voice echoing in the empty laboratory, but there was no response.

Just when we were about to despair, the butler's voice came from behind us: "Sir, Madam, this way!"

We looked in the direction of the sound and saw the butler standing in front of a wall. There was a secret door on the wall!

"Hurry! We don't have time!" the butler urged anxiously.

We didn't dare to hesitate and followed the butler into the secret door. Behind the secret door was a narrow and dark passage. We groped along the wall and stumbled forward.

The passage was filled with dust and the smell of decay, making it feel suffocating. I didn't know where this passage led to, nor did I know if we could escape, but I held Lawrence Lu's hand tightly, with only one thought in my mind: survive!

We didn't know how long we ran, or how many turns we made, but finally, a faint ray of light appeared ahead. Gathering our last bit of strength, we rushed towards that light...

It was already dawn when we climbed out of an abandoned manhole, collapsed on the ground, breathing in the fresh air, and hugged each other and cried with joy at having survived the disaster.

However, before we could even breathe a sigh of relief, a cold voice suddenly came from behind us: "Do you think this is the end? You are so naive!"

We turned around suddenly and saw Morrison's figure appearing not far away, with a crazy smile on his face and the fire of revenge in his eyes.

"I will be back, you can't escape!" Morrison left this sentence, turned around and disappeared in the morning light.

We looked in the direction he disappeared, feeling uneasy. He knew who we were and where we lived, and the safety of us and our families was threatened.

A bigger crisis has just begun...

We dragged ourselves home exhausted, the shadow of Morrison hanging over our hearts. For safety's sake, the housekeeper suggested we temporarily move out, but Lawrence Lu refused. He said running away wouldn't solve the problem; it would only make Morrison more brazen. What we had to do was strengthen our defenses, bide our time, and completely crush his scheme.

I understand Lawrence Lu's decision, but my inner uneasiness has only increased. I am worried that Morrison will do something bad to us, and even more worried that he will hurt our children.

"Baby! Where are you?" I rushed into the child's room, only to find it empty. The baby, who should have been sleeping soundly in the crib, was nowhere to be seen.

My heart instantly jumped into my throat, and a sense of foreboding washed over me. "Lu Yuxuan! The baby's gone!" I cried out, my voice trembling.

Lawrence Lu heard my shout and immediately rushed into the room. His face was ashen, and he quickly checked every corner of the room, but found nothing.

Just then, my eyes fell on the pillow of the crib. A neatly folded piece of paper lay quietly there, with a line of words written on it in bright red font: "If you want a child, come and exchange your life for mine."

My blood froze instantly, and a chill ran from my feet to my heart. Morrison, he actually kidnapped our child!

"Damn it!" Lawrence Lu growled angrily, clutching the note tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white from excessive force.
