Chapter 52 How to Be a Role Model

The shopkeeper said this to Teya with a smile, and then slammed the door shut.

"Oh, this old man is really unique."

Teya looked unhappy and lay down on the couch in the outer hall, his thoughts churning as he searched for the information he had just remembered.

If what the shopkeeper said was true, the news of the treasure was certain, otherwise he would not have asked about it right away.

But why did those people want to explore the mountain behind Fengsuo Island? Could it be that there are secrets hidden there?

Or has the news of the treasure already reached their ears?

Teya became suspicious and decided to ask the shopkeeper for details the next day, and then went to investigate in person.

......

The next day dawned.

When Teya woke up, he found that the shopkeeper had gotten up earlier than him.

This place was far more livable than the mountainside. All three slept soundly, their spirits high and full of energy and vitality. Their bodies had been thoroughly rested and restored, and their spirits were exceptionally cheerful. This excellent sleep left them feeling incredibly comfortable and satisfied, as if all fatigue had been swept away. When they awoke, smiles lit their faces, their eyes sparkled, and they exuded a positive energy.

After breakfast, Thea wanted to explore the area further, but hesitated about whether to take Tina and Smoker with him. As for the danger, last night's events had already revealed the dangers. Taking them along wasn't a good idea, but leaving them here was also a concern. It wasn't his concern for the shopkeeper; Thea suspected someone might be watching.

After thinking for a moment, Teya decided to take the two of them with him.

You said you would go into danger together, but then you abandoned me. How can you be a role model?

Even if the person coming is Kaido, Teya is confident that he can take Tina and Smoker and escape safely from Kaido.

"Do you want to look for treasure?"

Unexpectedly, the shopkeeper spoke so bluntly at the dinner table.

Before Teya and the others could react, the shopkeeper continued, "I believe I have seen countless people, so I trust you. If you really want to find treasure, the only way is to go into the mountains."

"Could it be that there really is a treasure?"

Smoker held half a piece of bread in his hand and looked at the shopkeeper with wide eyes.

The shopkeeper smiled but said nothing until Teya and the others left.

After they left, the shopkeeper took out a wooden box that had been sealed in dust for a long time from the room, gently brushed off the dust, and then opened the lid.

There are several notebooks, recording compasses and other items inside, but the most eye-catching thing is a photo frame placed at the top, with a yellowed photo embedded in it.

The photo shows a middle-aged man with a blond beard standing next to a child. The man, dressed in sailor's attire, with a compass hanging from his neck, holds a pipe in one hand and holds the child's head with the other. The child looks annoyed, as if resisting the man's actions.

"Old friend..."

The shopkeeper stared at the photo for a long time, sighed softly, and put it back into the box.

Passing through the town shrouded in morning mist, Teya and the other two returned to the hill where they were last night.

Seeing the broken rope under the tree, they realized that the three men might have accomplices, and the danger described by the shopkeeper might be even worse.

This is understandable. After all, no matter how much the children in the town try to find out information, they would not dare to go to such a dangerous place alone.

"Carlos, do you want to continue?"

Although Smoker asked this question, he did not show any fear. Instead, because of what happened last night, he was no longer as nervous as he was at the beginning. Perhaps he was mentally prepared.

Thea did not respond immediately, but looked at Tina.

"The road back might be even more dangerous. If it's just for training, I can just find a random pirate in town to deal with."

"Let's go."

Tina suddenly expressed her opinion loudly, which startled the two of them.

“Having come this far, if I give up now, I will regret it endlessly.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the three of them smiled knowingly, and all their doubts disappeared.

Teya looked towards the mountain behind him. "Well, when we encounter an enemy, I will try not to take action. You guys will handle it, unless the enemy is extremely dangerous. How do you think that is?"

Smoker and Tina nodded firmly, and the three of them headed towards the mountain behind the island.

At this moment, the shopkeeper was arranging the goods on the counter, with only a few fur blankets scattered on it.

He swept the dust with a feather duster.

Suddenly, three men with common airs came from the main gate.

The shopkeeper had his back to them, as if he knew who was coming. He didn't turn around, but just snorted coldly.

The man in the middle gave a forced smile and said, "It's been a long time."

"Hmph, isn't it enough to see it every day?"

The shopkeeper spoke sharply, and the other party was speechless for a moment. He coughed twice to cover up his embarrassment, forced a smile, and took a few steps forward.

"I want to say..."

"If it's still about this matter, please go back. No need to say more."

The shopkeeper showed no mercy, and the other party no longer wanted to embarrass himself, and his face turned gloomy.

"I just want to ask, who was the person who brought the child yesterday?"

"Heh—" the shopkeeper laughed strangely, turning to look at the three men. "You've been busy all day, have your brains gone muddled? Everyone in this town has nowhere to stay, and someone brought their children to seek a comfortable place. How could I turn them away?"

The shopkeeper's words were reasonable, and the other party was speechless and had to give up.

Before leaving, they still mentioned what they had discussed previously, saying that this move would be beneficial to both parties.

The shopkeeper said nothing more, went straight into the room and closed the door.

However, when he was about to close the door, a question from a street man made him pause.

"Don't you want to know where the treasure is?"

Behind the crack in the door, the old man stared at the three people with a cold look.

After a long while, he uttered a word - "Get out!"

......

Suddenly there was a wailing sound in the forest, and a pirate flew out, apparently having been knocked away, and now fell to the ground unconscious.

Teya lowered the brim of his hat, but his eyes did not look straight ahead, capturing every moment of the battle.

Smoker and Tina stood back to back, clenching their fists, alert to the movements of other enemies.

Just as they expected, they were attacked as soon as they entered the forest. Although their intentions were unclear, it was exactly what they wanted.

This trip out to sea is for this very purpose.

"You need to be more stable in your lower body. That punch just now was too powerful, and the moves were a bit old-fashioned."

"The opponent's lower body is unstable, why don't you use the sweeping kick I taught you?"

Thea, standing by, offered timely advice, while Tina and Smoker absorbed their lessons. Their passion for combat gradually surged, and they gradually adapted to the battle...
