Chapter 43 Can We Talk?

Teya slowly let out a long breath, and the worries in his heart gradually disappeared, but there was still one thing left unfinished.

Teya turned around and slowly walked towards the group of pirates.

The pirates grew nervous as they saw Teya approaching. Their leader coughed lightly and spoke, "This misunderstanding was purely accidental. I'm truly honored that you're willing to listen to my explanation. If you're unwilling, you can simply take me on as the scapegoat. I hope you'll forgive my companions."

"Captain, no, you can't abandon us."

"Yes, Captain, if we want to catch them, let's catch them together."

Everyone looked tragic, and Teya felt quite embarrassed and quickly interrupted them.

"Never mind, there's no need for this. If I wanted to capture you, I would have already taken action. Why wait until today?"

After saying that, Thea looked around at the pirates, who looked at each other and stared at him in surprise.

Teya continued, "The Wine Pirates have no record of any wrongdoing. You are the captain, Parker, and the bounty on the entire group is zero. Is that correct?"

Parker smiled suddenly after hearing this.

"So, you already know everything."

Captain Parker's massive build made it hard to imagine he was an innocent pirate. With fifty men and no bounty on their heads, perhaps they weren't pirates in the traditional sense.

However, Parker does have a bounty on his head, with a reward of zero.

This is even rarer than top-level pirates.

Teya's anger turned into curiosity that there was such a pirate group.

What caught Thea's attention even more was that Parker used the word "partners" when referring to his subordinates.

Teya sighed softly and asked with a smile, "Can we talk?"

That night.

The town was immersed in a festive atmosphere.

The bonfire on the shore is burning, bringing warmth to people on winter nights.

"General Teya, is this enough wine?"

Several navy soldiers brought in five oval wooden barrels of wine and wiped the sweat from their foreheads.

"Thank you for your hard work. You can go to the banquet. I will be on duty tonight."

The soldiers were ecstatic and left happily.

When the members of the Wine Pirates saw wine, their eyes were burning as if they saw their beloved. They were indeed alcoholics.

"What are you waiting for? Just drink."

Thea and Parker sat opposite each other, with a barrel of wine already opened beside them. The wine had a rich aroma and must be a fine aged wine.

Thea had changed out of his navy uniform and was wearing casual clothes.

He noticed that although the Wine Pirates looked rough, they actually enjoyed drinking. Some of them savored the wine, while others drank heavily.

"My partners and I worked in the same winery back then."

Parker put his glass down and turned to his partner, smiling broadly.

Upon hearing this, Teya put down his cup and listened attentively.

“Although we come from different places, we are like brothers because of our love for wine. The years I spent at the winery were the happiest days of my life.”

Parker said this, raised his glass, stared at the pale purple wine in the glass with bright eyes, the firelight illuminated his eyes, and they flickered.

“Like this glass of wine, whether you drink it all in one gulp or savor it slowly, as long as you love it, it makes no difference.”

Teya didn't know much about wine, but these words reminded him of an old friend, so he smiled faintly.

"Why did you become pirates?"

In the end, Teya asked the question he wanted to know most.

Parker glanced at Thea, then looked at the crowd immersed in joy.

"There's an old craftsman in the winery who has a bad temper but superb winemaking skills. We wanted to learn from him, but he firmly refused."

After a brief pause, Parker took another sip of his wine and continued, "Later, he fell ill and finally told us. It turns out that he had always wanted to brew the best wine in the world, but his illness prevented him from going out to sea, and he was trapped on the island for the rest of his life. This was his greatest regret."

"Before he died, he promised to take us in as his apprentices and teach us all his winemaking skills, but tears streamed down his face. He was never allowed to sail, confined to a small land. Only then did we understand why the old craftsman had such a bad temper, and we all knelt and wept bitterly."

Parker wiped the tears from his eyes.

Teya looked at him quietly, never expecting such a story behind it.

Parker sighed and continued, "Before the old craftsman died, he said he had longed for the sea all his life, because his master once told him that the sea was the only place a man could belong. So we chose to go to sea and form a pirate group, because this pirate flag was painted by the old craftsman himself when he was young."

Teya looked at the pirate flag. Next to the skull pattern were scimitars, grapes and fine wine, and the skull looked drunk.

Teya actually smiled with relief.

"When the old craftsman passed away, we sang that song to send him off. He left with a smile on his face."

"Yeah……"

At this point in the story, Parker and Teya looked at each other and drank it all in one gulp.

Yo ho ho ho yo ho ho ho——

Yo ho ho ho yo ho ho ho——

Behind him, everyone started singing.

Teya and Parker looked back, they were arm in arm, singing and dancing, raising their glasses and singing together this song that all men of the sea know.

Binx's wine.

Parker joined in loudly, and Thea smiled at them.

He filled another glass of wine, stared at the sky, and drank it all in one gulp.

The best wine?

What a touching story...

Chapter 4: Enduring Humiliation

As the night deepened, the jubilant atmosphere faded away and many people fell drunk and lay in all directions in the open space next to the campfire.

The bonfire is big enough to burn all night long, keeping you warm even on a winter night outside.

Thea walked out of the town and had just settled Tina and Smoker.

The two had fun at the banquet and fell asleep quickly due to exhaustion.

Teya was in charge of keeping watch. Although he had drunk some wine, the sea breeze on his face made him more alert.

Looking at the people sleeping by the campfire, only Parker was awake, drinking silently.

Won't he be drunk?

Thea couldn't help but admire Parker's drinking capacity. Although the alcohol was not strong, he was not drunk at all at the moment.

"Parker, are you so energetic?"

Parker was sitting by the campfire, seemingly lost in thought, when he heard the sound he looked up.

Returning to their original position, Thea found a clean blanket on the floor, and another under Parker. She realized it was something Parker had prepared...
