Chapter 97: A Tool Who Shouldn't Have Ideas

The two of them sang the same tune. Tang Xin thought he couldn't give any reason to refuse, so he had to sit down on the bench for trying on shoes.

"How did you know I wear size 35?"

"Don't the rabbit shoes fit you perfectly?" Jin Taize squatted down in front of Tang Xin.

The man's slender figure made him look lean and strong. He loosened his shoelaces bit by bit. Tang Xin, with her hands on the bench, felt a little awkward watching him wordlessly untie his shoelaces. She reached out to grab it, "I'll do it myself."

Before she could grab them, the shoes were already placed in front of Tang Xin.

Customers began to come into the store one after another.

Tang Xin pursed her lips, glanced at the silent man, and obediently slipped her foot into her shoe. Jin Taize then bent his long back to tie his shoelaces. Seeing a grown man bending over and hunching over in public, Tang Xin's face flushed.

She couldn't sit still anymore and bent down to grab her shoelaces. But Jin Taize sternly shouted at her, "Sit still and don't move."

The salesgirl took one look at the couple in front of her, wiped her nose with her curled fingers, and said, "Try this one first. I'll get you the other one." Then she turned and went inside.

The clerk's unnatural expression made Tang Xin feel even more embarrassed, so she whispered to Jin Taize, "What are you doing? Even the clerk feels embarrassed." Her voice was tinged with coquettishness.

Jin Taize took a look inside, turned around, and said, "That's perfect."

Tang Xin suddenly realized that she wasn't the only one who noticed the young lady's ambiguous look; Jin Taize had noticed it too. But seeing his expression as normal and his words without any emotion, she thought he hadn't noticed and therefore assumed she was overthinking it.

So, Jin Tae-jae just wanted to use her as a prop to ward off unwanted romantic interest. It was the same reason he wanted her to pretend to be Yushan in front of his family. Her function was no different from an axe, scissors, or tape: a tool, nothing more.

She suddenly felt unhappy and ashamed of her momentary misunderstanding. Fortunately, Jin Taize didn't see her blushing.

After untying her shoelaces for a while, Tang Xin looked up and saw Jin Taize wasn't around. Glancing forward, she saw him already at the counter with the young lady. It looked like they were there to check out.

Tang Xin didn't bother to put her shoes into the shoe box. She put on her rabbit slippers and rushed to Jin Taize's side in front of the counter. She met the man's surprised eyes after he turned his head as if he saw an unknown creature, and the piece of white receipt pinched between his wheat-colored fingers.

After a turbulent storm, the heart returned to silence. Everything had finally settled. Tang Xin's eyes were filled with nervousness, and the moment she saw the receipt, she felt like a deflated ball, lifeless.

Jin Taize turned around, lowered his head and glanced at Tang Xin whose face suddenly changed color. He said, "Change your shoes and leave." Then he walked out with big strides.

Tang Xin stomped her feet unwillingly and sat down on the shoe-changing stool reluctantly.

Jin Taize, sitting in the car, was waiting for the people inside to come out.

He frowned and picked up the phone, looking at the screen. He frowned with a hiss, and his jawline was tightened with force, giving off a sense of power.

Tang Xin changed into her new shoes, put the rabbit shoes in a shoe box, and carried them out. She opened the car door, and the man with a cold look in his eyes pressed towards her.
