Gold Medal Sweetheart

Chapter 5 Accident

Chapter 5 Accident

The next afternoon, although Tang Xin loved to procrastinate, she did not dare to neglect the task of booking a hotel. The general manager even sent her to a flower shop not far from the hotel early to make a flower basket, intending to put it in the middle of the dining table to set off the atmosphere.

Leaving the flower shop, she cycled along, thinking about what Director Zhang from the General Affairs Office had said. While she had no hope of returning to teaching, it was better than doing odd jobs like this, and it was an opportunity. With that thought, she felt as if she were brimming with energy, and pedaled quickly again.

Unexpectedly, just as Tang Xin was about to cross the intersection and ride to Shangyue Mansion on the other side of the road, a black SUV sped past. She was caught off guard and the SUV swerved. Fortunately, she managed to keep one foot on the ground, avoiding a fall. But the flower basket wasn't so lucky. In a split second, with a startled "Ah..." from Tang Xin, it fell out of the basket and onto the ground. Without a second's thought, she quickly picked up the basket, but the flowers, so beautiful and charming just a moment ago, were now withered and withered.

Seeing the flower basket shattered into this state, she remembered the culprit. She saw that the car had no intention of stopping and sped away, but stopped at Shangyue Mansion. Then a man in a black suit got out of the car and walked straight into the hotel.

Tang Xin casually threw the flower basket into the car basket and stepped onto the car skillfully. She thought, if you drive away, there is really nothing I can do to you. Since we are going to the same place, let's talk it out.

Tang Xin gathered all her strength and rushed to the hotel entrance like a flash. This hotel was truly high-end, as evidenced by the cars parked outside. Although she didn't recognize luxury cars, she could still distinguish BMWs and Mercedes-Benzes. However, there was no place for someone like her to park a bicycle.

Tang Xin could only park her bike on the side of the road a little closer to the hotel, locked it, and went in with her flower basket. After passing through the three-wing revolving door at the hotel entrance, she looked around to see if she had seen the person who had caused the accident. However, there were several people in black suits in the hotel lobby, and she couldn't be sure who the person was who had almost knocked her down.

"Miss, are you making an appointment or looking for someone?"

A word interrupted Tang Xin's gaze. Standing before him stood a pretty girl, presumably the hotel's receptionist. Tang Xin thought, forget it. She wasn't in a big trouble, so she could just consider the flower basket issue a financial loss. She still had business to attend to. So she immediately replied, "I have one. My last name is Tang. I've reserved a luxurious private room. You say it's the best room with the most beautiful night view in the city—Lanhe Square."

"Okay, please come this way. Please wait a moment, I'll check for you." Following the direction indicated by the receptionist, Tang Xin followed her to the front desk.

While waiting, Tang Xin looked at the magnificent decoration here, the spacious lobby, the crystal chandelier cascading from the ceiling, which was as beautiful as a waterfall, and the bright marble floor tiles that were so shiny that one could see a mirror. No wonder Shangyue Mansion was the most representative hotel in this city.

At that moment, the receptionist answered a phone call. Tang Xin heard her hesitantly speaking, so she turned around and looked over. Unexpectedly, the receptionist was looking at her with a puzzled expression. When their eyes met, she quickly looked away. Tang Xin tilted her head, muttering to herself, "Could something be wrong?"

The receptionist put down the phone and said to Tang Xin, "I'm sorry, miss. The previous receptionist just arrived and made a mistake in the reservation. The room you reserved has already been booked."

Tang Xin couldn't believe it. How could it be possible? He had clearly said on the phone yesterday that there was a room available, so how could something like this suddenly happen?

"Miss, please help me check it carefully again." Tang Xin said anxiously.

"I'm really sorry, our manager has just verified it." The front desk receptionist said sincerely.

"Then...then...are there any luxury private rooms left? This one is okay." Tang Xin asked expectantly.

"I'm sorry about this, but all the private rooms for today have been booked."

"Why didn't you inform me in advance? It's so irresponsible of you to delay the customer's arrangements." Tang Xin argued.

"I'm so sorry. I was about to call you just now. We have fired the employee who made the mistake at work. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you." The receptionist explained calmly.

What should she do now? Tang Xin's mind went blank. With only two hours left until the scheduled time, how could she possibly conjure up a luxurious private room? There was no point arguing with them; the most urgent thing was to come up with a solution. Tang Xin thought that with the sudden change, Shangyue Mansion was a dead end. The nearby Yueweixuan was one of the best restaurants in the city, so why not go there and have a look?

She had to hurry and go. Just as she turned to leave, two men passed by. Tang Xin accidentally overheard their conversation.

"I'm so sorry. It's all our fault. Thank you for coming." said a man with the name tag "Manager".

"I don't want something like this to happen again." The speaker was a tall, well-dressed young man wearing black sunglasses, while the Bluetooth headset on his ear perfectly accentuated his angular face.

The manager continued flatteringly, "Yes, yes. The lobby manager in charge of this matter is new and not very familiar with the hotel's operations. She didn't know you would visit our hotel every year on this day, so there's no need to make a reservation. We must reserve the deluxe private room with the best view of Lanhe Square for you. The receptionist is also new. She unknowingly booked your room, but we quickly made amends and gave it back to you. I hope you can forgive me. I promise this won't happen again. We've also taken appropriate action against the two employees."

The young man nodded, seemingly very satisfied with the manager's performance. "Okay, that's it. We'll come back at six."

At the same time, Tang Xin's brain was working at full speed. What was going on? Her private room was inexplicably gone, while the young man easily got a room that he had not booked. Moreover, it was a luxurious private room with the best view of Lanhe Square. Could it be that the hotel was shady and gave the room that originally belonged to her to that man?

The man who looked like a manager said respectfully to the young man, "Where did you park your car? I'll take you there!" As he spoke, he bowed and extended his right arm.

The young man pointed, "No need, it's right up ahead." Tang Xin followed his finger and looked. Her eyes widened. Wasn't that the black SUV that had nearly killed her? She turned back to look at the man. Why hadn't she noticed earlier? He was wearing a black suit.

Seeing that the man was about to leave the restaurant, Tang Xin didn't think much and rushed to the two men, "Wait."

As soon as he finished speaking, the manager looked at Tang Xin with a strange look as if he saw a UFO, but because the young man was wearing sunglasses, Tang Xin couldn't see his expression at all.

After a few seconds of surprise, the manager quickly adjusted his thoughts and asked as usual, "Miss, how can I help you?"

Tang Xin was a bit bewildered by this direct question. She didn't know where she'd gotten the courage to call them out, and she had no idea what she'd do after calling them out. Oh well, let it go. Never mind. It was already this situation. I'd already called them out, so I couldn't just turn around and run away.

"You could help me out by giving me the deluxe room I reserved with a view of Lanhe Square," Tang Xin said, assessing the two men's expressions. Seeing the manager's awkward expression, as if his conspiracy had been exposed, she became even more certain that her room had been taken by someone else. The man in sunglasses, on the other hand, wasn't flustered by her scheming, still looking at her calmly through his sunglasses. No, he was clearly the scheming one, Tang Xin was certain.
