The Romantic Life of a Goblin

Chapter 8: Talking and Understanding the Other World

The names of monsters are engraved on their souls. If they are named by a higher race or demon, then the name can also serve as a protection.

"I see!"

After listening to the old goblin's description, Alan suddenly understood.

He then asked curiously:

"You mentioned priests just now. What are priests? Aren't there priests in our nest?"

The old goblin looked at the little cub in front of him and couldn't help but sigh in his heart, it was rare that this little guy could understand such a complicated problem.

After all, in this nest, there are too few people with whom I can communicate well.

So the old goblin replied with great interest:

“Shamans exist only in large tribes and are skilled in sorcery, the use of herbs, and the ability to heal and restore wounds.

I once studied shamanism in our previous tribe for a period of time, but unfortunately, my talent was not outstanding and I ultimately failed to become a real priest.

Now, I have only mastered some simple knowledge of herbs.”

Then the old goblin looked at Allen again and said:

"In fact, I think you are quite smart. If you have the opportunity to study, you may be able to become a priest."

The prerequisite for becoming a priest is to have a high enough IQ and be able to communicate normally. Only such a goblin has sufficient learning ability.

Alan is not very interested in becoming a priest at the moment.

He asked curiously:

"You mentioned our old tribe? Were we once part of a larger tribe than this one?"

The old goblin nodded and said:

"Of course. Starting from here, it will take about ten days to reach the big tribe we used to be in. We are a part of that big tribe that split off."

The old goblin continued to explain:

“When goblins live together, if their numbers are too large, it becomes very difficult to find food.

At this point, they have to face some choices.

One possibility is to start a fight with other tribes to reduce the population;

Another possibility is to attack human villages or towns for resources.

However, the best way is to separate small tribes and migrate to more distant places, where they can survive better."

The old goblin then added:

“Generally speaking, in a goblin tribe, there must be at least one powerful big goblin, goblin elite or hero as the leader, and there must also be several to a dozen adult goblins responsible for hunting and foraging.

In addition, there should be a shaman to treat and assist the goblin leader in handling daily affairs.

But you can see that the tribe we are in is too small. Not only do we lack powerful Goblins, but I am not a real shaman either."

Alan asked doubtfully:

"Where did those human women in the cave come from?"

The old goblin nodded proudly. This was an easy question for him:

"They were all given to us when the tribe moved. There were more women in the old tribe before, hundreds of them."

Speaking of women, the old goblin seemed to be in high spirits and continued to talk nonstop:

"As for the women, some were captured from nearby human villages, some were lone hunters and adventurers, and some were robbed from human caravans."

The old goblin scratched his head and tried to recall:

"When I was learning shamanism, I heard from others that tribes could exchange items with each other, including these captured women.

Women like the elves are rare and precious. "

Alan opened his mouth in surprise:

"Elf?! The kind with long ears?"

The old goblin nodded and said with a smile:

"Well, elves are all pretty, with slim bodies, big breasts and nice butts, but some have smaller breasts."

Allen asked curiously:

"Do you know where the elves live?"

Allen thought, it would be awesome to catch a female elf and make her his own meat! Most people have never played with elves, okay, this is also one of his future goals!

The old goblin shook his head and said:

"I don't know about that. My level is too low to get such information. The old shaman said that there is an elf tribe three or four months away from here, but he didn't say which direction it was."

The distance of three or four months was too vague, and Alan suddenly thought of a problem at this time, the calculation of time and the calendar.

He immediately asked the Goblin, but the question was rather complicated, and the Goblin gestured for a long time but still couldn't fully understand it.

In this world, a huge Saturn-like moon appears in the night sky for half of the year. This "half year" period lasts for ten months and is called the Titan Season.

Another "half season" is called the starry sky season. There will be one or two very small moons in the sky. The duration of the starry sky season ranges from seven to sixteen months.

The number of days in a month depends on the different orbits of the moon in the sky. Sometimes it is twenty-five days, and sometimes it is more than fifty days.

The night when there is no moon in the sky is called the Silent Season, and its length is uncertain.

Each year is divided into three to four seasons, which are different every year. It seems that the human calendar and the demon calendar are also different. In short, it is very confusing.

The old shaman himself couldn't figure it out. The monsters here and humans had different methods of calculating age. Humans were better, but monsters had no accurate method at all. For example, the protagonist seemed to have been born for more than a year and could be considered an adult, but the old shaman couldn't figure out how old he actually was.

Alan continued to ask for information about human society, but the old goblin didn't know much because he had never participated in the battle to attack human villages, so he knew very little about human society.

Afterwards, Alan turned to asking for information about other monsters, wanting to know what other monsters and monsters existed in this forest besides goblins.

According to the old goblin, in addition to common monsters such as pig-headed men, lizardmen and ogres, there are also some other races, but he is not clear about the details.

As for animals and beasts, there are many kinds of them. Common ones in the vicinity include horned rabbits, golden pheasants, ground mice, bats, coyotes, vipers, armored badgers, fierce jackals, leopards and many herbivorous dragons.

Many of these animals are the natural enemies of the goblins. For example, the previous generation leader was eaten by a ferocious jackal dragon while hunting.

Alan nodded: "Okay, I think I understand."

It is estimated that this old guy is unlikely to know more information since he is not a real priest after all.

After thinking for a moment, Alan asked one last question:

"So, if I want to become the leader of this nest, how should I go about it?"
