Chapter 8 Moving into a New Home

Watson District, Little Chinatown.

As the name suggests, this is where Chinese people gather.

An extension of the pre-war Night City Municipal Center, it was also planned as the second municipal center during reconstruction.

However, all of this was ruined by Saburo Arasaka, who used his skillful economic means and the huge size of Arasaka to defeat his competitors one by one.

The once prosperous Watson district has become like a slum.

The good thing about living in Little Chinatown is that there are no messy gangs here.

You won’t be robbed by gangsters while eating hotpot and singing songs.

"Pilot, you should be quite adaptable to the environment here, right?" Jack asked.

Ling Luxian didn't know how to comment on Jack's words.

"In my eyes, this little Chinatown is just like General Tso's Chicken. It's neither Chinese nor American. Even the archway we just passed by has a bit of the flavor of a neon torii. It's a complete hodgepodge." Ling Luxian said intriguingly.

"Is this good or bad?" Jack was a little unsure of what Ling Luxian meant.

“It’s OK as a place to live, but in my eyes, it’s full of stereotypes.”

Although Ling Luxian did not give a direct answer, Jack and others could see that he was quite satisfied.

"We're here. Let's go down here and park the car in the underground garage. We'll take the elevator up." Jack saw the destination and directed Pyrrha to go over.

After getting off the car, Jack opened his arms and began the introduction.

"The super skyscraper H10 integrates entertainment, business and living. Living here will definitely make you feel great. Let me tell you a secret. This was once the heart of Night City. This skyscraper was built specifically for those corporate dogs who work there."

Pyrrha took over the conversation and said with a hint of regret: "Tsk tsk, it's a pity that a financial crisis has made all of this come to naught."

Rebecca looked at the two of them as if they were idiots. "Hurry up and look for a room. It's getting late now."

"Oh, I'll be right there," Pyrrha agreed quickly.

Seeing this scene, Jack nudged Ling Luxian's arm with his elbow and whispered in his ear, "Do you feel that Pyrrha seems to be afraid of this little furry head?"

Ling Luxian rolled his eyes and said, "This is just a brother's love for his sister, okay? What do you, an old virgin, know?"

"Tsk, you're the virgin." Jack said unhappily.

"What are you two whispering to each other? Come here quickly." Rebecca saw the two people standing there whispering to each other, and she knew at a glance that they were not talking about anything serious, and she couldn't help feeling a chill.

Jack was caught by the real person teasing him, and felt a little embarrassed. He smiled awkwardly, "Hey, I'll be right there."

Jack's expression made Rebecca think more clearly. Rebecca looked at Jack as if he was trash. "What are you talking about when you smile so disgustingly?"

Jack nudged Ling Luxian with his elbow guiltily, "We are talking about serious matters, right, Iron Pilot."

Jack turned his back and, in a blind spot where Rebecca couldn't see him, frantically signaled to Ling Luxian with his eyes.

Ling Luxian originally wanted to tease Rebecca again, but then he thought again and decided to give up.

Otherwise, with Rebecca's temper, she won't be able to sleep well tonight.

Ling Luxian quickly tried to smooth things over for Jack, "No, Jack just said Pyrrha was a coward."

When Pira heard this, she was like, "What? This has something to do with me?"

"Jack, you bastard, how could I be a coward? I promised to treat you to the bar next time, but I won't do that now."

Pira and Jack were both social experts and had similar personalities, so they chatted all the way in the car.

Look, we even made an appointment to go to the bar together.

Jack also retorted: "Who told you not to shoot just now?"

"Hey, I'm a technical expert. Do technical experts understand?" Pyrrha was obviously not satisfied with this. She was about to have a verbal battle with Jack for three hundred rounds when she was stopped by Rebecca.

"Okay Pyrrha, if you keep making trouble I won't be able to sleep well today."

Ling Luxian watched the brother and sister angrily with interest. One was brainless, the other was unhappy; they were a perfect match.

Jack knew that if he continued to make trouble, it would be bad, so he hurriedly got on the elevator. After the four of them were on the elevator, he pressed the button for the 8th floor.

After reaching the floor, Jack took the three to rooms 0719 and 0720.

Jack introduced, "Both rooms are available for rent now. The previous occupant of Room 19 was a cop, who was recently killed in the line of duty. The previous occupant of Room 20 was a thug from the Tiger Claw Gang, who was arrested by the cops."

"I'm not saying anything, Jack, you're not the real estate agent here, are you? You must know this place very well." Ling Luxian teased.

Ling Luxian was also very curious about this. If he remembered correctly, V's apartment in the game was Room 0716.

It seems that Jack has moved all his friends to live in the super skyscraper H10.

Jack laughed, "That's another story."

"Okay, let's rent it then." Ling Luxian looked around. It was a good opportunity that he might become a neighbor with the famous V in the future.

Rebecca almost jumped when she saw the price of the house.

"1500 euros a month, is that a steal?!"

Jack glanced at Rebecca and said something cold and ruthless, "This is only the right to use the house. The right to use the machines inside is not included."

Rebecca said angrily: "Our previous home only cost 500 euros a month to rent."

Jack was happy. "Of course, the house prices are low in the northern part of the city, where normal people don't dare to go."

"The problem is that we have no money." Rebecca was angry and anxious.

Don’t be fooled by how glorious the cyber mercenaries seem on the surface; in reality, they are all poor bastards.

Most of the orders I usually receive are from civilians in Night City. How much money do civilians have? Plus the middleman takes a large part of the commission, so I can only get a thousand dollars per order, two or three thousand is enough.

If it was a lone wolf, it would be fine, but Rebecca and her friends are a team.

If they take small orders, they will probably be penniless. If they take big orders, with their strength, they will not be able to take many orders in a short period of time.

Not to mention the food they eat, that's their head on the belt. So they have to constantly update their prosthetics and firearms, which is a huge expense.

Although Rebecca and her family were not unable to come up with the money, it was still painful to spend it all at once.

"Okay, I'll pay for it." The 10,000 euros that Ling Luxian had in his pocket finally came in handy.

Ling Luxian took out five thousand euros and handed it to Rebecca, "Okay, use it to pay the rent."

"Oh my god, so much money? That's not a good idea, right?" Rebecca swallowed.

Ling Luxian patted Rebecca's little head and said, "Relax, just consider it as your reward for saving me."

Rebecca looked at Ling Luxian worriedly again, "What about you?"

Rebecca knew that Ling Luxian had lost his memory for a short time and was afraid that he would take out the only money he had.

Ling Luxian patted his chest and said, "Don't worry, I lack everything now, except money."

"Okay then." Rebecca accepted it reluctantly.

The four of them spent the next half an hour moving their things into their new home, chatting with each other for a while, and then Rebecca and Pyrrha went back to rest.

Seeing this, Jack wanted to leave, but was stopped by Ling Luxian.

"Jack, please don't leave. It's not safe to go out at night."

Jack insisted on leaving, but was persuaded to come back by Ling Luxian.

One night, everything was peaceful.
