HP: Let professors walk towards the light
Chapter 222 Bane and the Safety of the Centaurs
The Forbidden Forest is worthy of being the Forbidden Forest and lives up to its name at all. Even Christmas Day is the same as usual.
The air at the edge of the forest was wrapped in an icy cold wind, and the snow underfoot was so thick that it could cover the instep of the feet. The deeper you went, the more it felt like a thick piece of black velvet pressing down.
Perhaps because someone came in and disturbed them, snow slid down from the trees from time to time, and the footprints on the ground were quickly covered by magic. Probably no one would know that Hermalene and Snape came to the Forbidden Forest together tonight.
"You should listen to Draco and the others. Centaurs won't like wizards barging in."
Snape's wand glowed faintly, illuminating the tree roots that looked like a coiled dragon in front of him.
The centaurs' territory is very remote. In order to prevent the intrusion of foreigners, this road is not easy to walk on. Snape had to pay attention to Lena's feet.
Shortly after the words fell, footsteps were heard in the distance.
Snape immediately turned off the light, pulled Reina into his arms, hid behind a tree, and kept a vigilant eye on his surroundings.
As the flickering warm fireworks illuminated the small jungle, the "da da" sound stopped near them.
"It seems to be right here. Come out, you two. Aren't you here to find us?"
This feels like the centaur we are looking for.
Reina patted Snape's arm, which was around her, and signaled him to calm down.
The two walked out one after the other. Snape followed closely behind Lena's steps, keeping an eye on everything that was happening around him.
"Bane, Ronan, it's you two, long time no see."
Reina felt a little surprised when she looked at the two people whom she had met once before.
"It sounded like you knew I was coming?"
"It's been a while, Hermalena. I hope you're doing well."
Ronan smiled slightly and stamped his front hooves. To be honest, he was quite friendly to the wizard Lena even though he had only met her once.
"We are centaurs after all. Don't underestimate our abilities."
Bane nodded as a greeting. Bane looked similar to Ronan. At least in their eyes, Hermalena was much better than the savior. She had brought about tremendous changes to the originally regular star spectrum.
"I'm fine. It sounds like you guys didn't just come here to say hello."
"Yes, Chief. We have been observing the Star of Destiny since we met you." Ronan explained.
"Yes, you may know that centaurs hate to get involved in the changes of the stars, but I have to admit, I never thought that our brief acquaintance would drag me into this."
Bane shook his head and let out a long breath through his nose.
"What does this mean?" Snape caught Bane's somewhat resistant mood and ambiguous words, which reminded him again of the prophecy that he almost ignored.
"Remember the night we met? The stars shifted significantly at that moment compared to before. Normally, we should be able to detect even the slightest change, but it doesn't make sense for such a huge change to occur in an instant. It's like..."
Ronan's deep voice made his tone even more sad.
"It's like we were AWOL for half a year. It's a huge mistake and it's a very serious matter for us."
Bane added to his words.
"Wait, something doesn't seem right. Didn't you remind me that this was my last chance? I thought you knew about my situation. Isn't this the prophecy you received from the stars?"
Reina was indeed a little confused now.
"I think your memory might be wrong. We didn't make any prophecies in front of you. Bane might have been kind enough to remind you to be careful. The moonlight on you was very weak, which meant that your fate would end."
"Indeed, we have observed that planets related to the Talros family have always affected the changes in the stars. However, this does not mean that we understand your situation. Centaurs are not omnipotent prophets. We can only read the stars. You should understand the reason for our seclusion, of course, if you are good at history."
Reina did know, and Bane had said at the time that they would no longer fight against God, and was also worried that Firenze would reveal the prophecy to Harry.
"It seems I misunderstood. I'm so sorry. It turns out Bane's words weren't a prophecy."
"So what do you mean by 'getting involved'? You don't seem to be behaving in a friendly way." Snape returned to the topic again. He was very concerned about the so-called "changes".
"It's easy to understand. As I said, I was so resistant to the disturbances of worldly affairs. But unfortunately, I was careless. Moonlight is also part of the stars, and my careless words were mixed in. I have already been punished."
Bane had to accept this fact. He was in a very complicated mood. No one in the tribe blamed him, but he still showed his determination by going on a hunger strike for a year.
"Our entire clan has been keeping an eye on the stars ever since. The clan leader and several elders often study the fate of Bane and you, including Mr. Snape. I do the same, after all, Bane is my best friend."
Ronan took two steps closer to Bane, trying to appease him by shortening the distance between them.
"The leader has ordered that I must pay the price for my mistake and give you some guidance. Otherwise, it will cause unnecessary trouble, and seriously, the centaurs may also be involved in the crisis. Even if you don't come now, I will have to leave the Forbidden Forest to find you in the winter of 1995, which is this time next year. But fortunately, you came and saved me a lot of trouble."
Bane looked at Lena. His whole body was dark, including his eyes. His gaze made people feel quite oppressive.
"Okay, how about we go talk in the open space? Even though the stars aren't bright tonight, the view is just a little wider than here."
Ronan suggested, and prepared to walk ahead with Bane to lead the way. When he saw Bane tensing his hind legs and preparing to leap up, he immediately called out to him:
"Wait a minute, Bane."
Bane turned his head in confusion.
"You also seem to have forgotten that they are wizards."
"So, bipedal wizards who walk upright are really troublesome." Bane stomped his four horseshoes quickly to express his dissatisfaction.
He turned around and handed the torch to Snape, then opened his arms towards the bushes and muttered something that sounded like a spell.
After a few seconds, the ground in the Forbidden Forest began to tremble violently. Snape quickly grabbed Lena's arm. After all, such an earth-shaking movement was indeed quite loud.
But it didn't last long. After a while, the roots of the giant tree in front of them began to wriggle, and actually forcibly moved away to create a flat path.
