Chapter 208 Young People Should Understand the Rules
Gu Wan nodded slowly, tears blurring her vision.
Si Yehan's face turned pale. He stood up suddenly, walked to the window, and placed his hands on the windowsill, his shoulders tense. "Why didn't you tell me? And why did you leave for six years? Was it just for that groundless hatred?" His voice was broken.
"......"Gu Wanwanwan didn't expect that Si Yehan even knew this.
Si Yehan's expression was too complicated to read. "Our daughter...what's her name?"
“… Nian Nian.” Gu Wan said softly, “Gu Nian.”
"Gu Nian..." Si Yehan repeated the name. Suddenly, he knelt down in front of the bed and reached out to touch Gu Wan, but stopped in mid-air. "Wan Wan, I..."
Gu Wan flinched, eyes full of caution and fear. Si Yehan's hands dropped, a look of deep regret on his face.
"I'm sorry." He said hoarsely, "I... I don't know..."
Gu Wan looked at him. The man who had been as ferocious as a wild beast just now was now as fragile as a child who had done something wrong.
She didn't know whether to hate him or forgive him. No, to be more precise, she didn't know whether to hate herself or forgive herself.
Outside the window, the rain gradually subsided, but the two people's hearts were wetter and heavier than ever.
The morning sun shone into the bedroom through the French windows. Si Yehan stood in the bathroom, letting the cold water wash over his muscular body.
Drops of water slid down his abdominal muscles. He closed his eyes, but his mind couldn't help but emerge the image of Gu Wan trembling under him last night.
"Tsk." He turned off the faucet irritably and pulled a bath towel around his waist.
Thinking about it now, he seemed to have gone too far. Gu Wan's weak plea for mercy seemed to still echo in his ears, but at the time he was only blinded by anger and became more unscrupulous.
Si Yehan dried his hair and walked out of the bathroom, his eyes naturally falling on the petite figure curled up on the bed. Gu Wan had her back to him, the quilt only covered her waist, revealing her snow-white shoulders covered with red marks.
"Wanwan, I won't disturb your rest for now." He said to himself while buttoning his shirt cuffs.
no respond.
Si Yehan frowned and walked to the other side of the bed. Gu Wan's face was abnormally flushed, her brows were furrowed, and her lips were chapped. He reached out and touched her forehead, and was instantly shocked by the scorching temperature.
"Wanwan?" He raised his voice a few degrees and gently shook her shoulders.
Gu Wan showed no reaction, only her rapid and weak breathing proved that she was still alive. Si Yehan's heart sank suddenly, and an unprecedented panic gripped his heart.
He quickly dialed his personal doctor, then carefully wrapped Gu Wan in a blanket and picked her up.
"Hold on, the doctor will be here soon." He whispered, his voice trembling without him even noticing.
Si Yehan's Cullinan sped back to the Si family villa, where the doctor was already waiting. He placed Gu Wanqing on the big bed in the master bedroom, and looking at her reddened cheeks and tightly closed eyes, a strong sense of self-blame surged in his heart.
"Doctor, how is she? Is she alright?" Si Yehan stood beside the bed, showing a rare anxiety.
After the doctor finished the examination, he gave him a reproachful look and said, "Young people should know how to be moderate. It is not easy for her to hold on until now with such a thin body." Then he took out a bottle of ointment from the medicine box and said, "This is ointment for treating lacerations. You must pay attention to it in the future."
Si Yehan took the ointment, his throat tightened: "Okay..."
The doctor left some antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drugs and told her to go to the hospital if the fever persisted. Si Yehan sat by the bed and gently wiped Gu Wan's burning forehead and neck with a wet towel. Looking at her painful expression, he regretted his behavior for the first time.
"I'm sorry..." he whispered, running his fingers over her hot cheek.
Time passed by minute by minute, and Si Yehan stayed by her side. It was not until around 10 o'clock in the afternoon that Gu Wan's temperature finally began to drop. Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.
"How do you feel?" Si Yehan immediately moved closer, his voice filled with surprise and worry.
Gu Wan's eyes were confused for a few seconds before they focused. After seeing that it was Si Yehan, she subconsciously wanted to shrink back, but she let out a soft groan because of the pain all over her body.
"Don't move. I've already applied the medicine on you." Si Yehan held her shoulders to prevent her from moving.
"What medicine should I apply?" Gu Wan asked in a hoarse and confused voice.
"That's it..." Si Yehan looked down.
Gu Wan followed his gaze and suddenly understood something. Her pale face instantly flushed with color. She pulled up the quilt to cover half of her face, feeling so ashamed that she almost wanted to find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
"I...I can do it myself..." Her voice came out muffled from under the quilt.
Si Yehan sighed, stretched out his hand and gently pulled back the quilt, revealing her red face: "Don't hide, your current physical condition can't handle it yourself." His tone was unusually gentle, "I was too much last night."
Gu Wan looked at him in surprise, unable to believe that this always overbearing and domineering man would actually apologize. Her eyes were wet because of the fever, and she looked particularly vulnerable.
"I asked the kitchen to prepare some porridge. Eat something before taking your medicine." Si Yehan said as he pressed the call bell at the bedside.
The maid quickly brought a bowl of light chicken porridge. Si Yehan took it, motioned her to leave, then scooped a spoonful himself, blew it cool, and passed it to Gu Wan's lips.
"I...I can do it myself..." Gu Wan tried to take the bowl, but her hands were shaking so badly that she almost knocked it over.
Si Yehan put the spoon against her lips without letting her refuse: "Be obedient."
Gu Wan had no choice but to open her mouth obediently, and the warm porridge slid into her throat, relieving some of the discomfort. She secretly raised her eyes to look at Si Yehan, and found that he was looking at her intently, with a kind of tenderness and worry in his eyes that she had never seen before.
After finishing the bowl of porridge, Si Yehan handed over some pills and water. Gu Wan swallowed them obediently, then lay down again because she was exhausted.
"Go to sleep. I'm here with you." Si Yehan tucked in the quilt for her and brushed her cheek carelessly with his fingers.
Gu Wan closed her eyes drowsily, but before she fell asleep she felt a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Si Yehan watched Gu Wan's breathing gradually stabilize, "I won't let you get hurt again." He promised in a low voice, so soft that it was almost inaudible.
He suddenly thought of something, grabbed Gu Wan's hand and kissed it twice, "By the way, I have sent someone to pick up Nian Nian. You must miss her a lot, right? Me too. I really don't know if she will like me?"
Then he looked down at his watch and said, "Wanwan, there are still three and a half hours left, and our family of three will finally be reunited."
