Li Xueyue was not confused by Yu Zhen's request. Instead, she felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction in her heart.

She had been wanting to say this, but she felt she had no right to override the Queen's authority. Those women would sooner or later cause even greater trouble. It was best to get rid of them before they became overgrown weeds.

"You are mad, my bloodthirsty son," the Queen snapped. "It is but a small fish in the ocean. Must they all suffer?"

"You don't want to take action?" Yu Zhen asked grimly, his voice as calm as a clear sky. His cold, dark aura struck fear into the hearts of many. No one could predict his next move.

"That's good." Yu Zhen chuckled, giving people goosebumps.

"What do you want?" the Queen demanded sharply. To say his rage was terrifying was an understatement. He was willing to destroy anything to achieve his goal.

Yu Zhen didn't say anything, but hugged Li Xueyue and said, "We've been standing here all morning, Princess. Let me get you something to eat."

Li Xueyue looked at the queen. She was a little surprised that the queen did not use her power to control Yuzhen.

But can you really control a bloodthirsty beast? Chains and collars are useless. Little Orange's numerous escapes are proof of that.

"Oh, you must be exhausted dealing with someone as stubborn as my son." The queen sighed and glanced at him unhappily.

"Princess, remember to take care of yourself," the Queen said, clasping her hands together and tucking them into her long sleeves.

"Your Majesty is the same." Li Xueyue said.

The queen nodded, then turned and left, never looking back. Her kind face disappeared, and a hint of gloom flashed across her eyes.

Li Xueyue and the other queens had left, leaving only the maid and Xu Jiaqi in the huge courtyard. She looked at them and felt a pang of pain in her heart.

Seeing her, everyone was relieved, as if they had seen a savior. They were filled with hope that she could tame the beast beside them. All the servants remained on their knees, but their eyes were shining with newfound joy.

"You can get up now," she said.

As they walked slowly, they looked around at the people they knew, wondering if everyone was doing the same thing. No one wanted to seem out of place.

"Return to your post," she added.

Their legs felt weak. Not because they had been kneeling for too long, but because a single glance from the prince was enough to freeze them in place. His eyes were narrowed, sharp, and he was observing them closely.

"Go on." Li Xueyue encouraged softly.

Most of them did nothing wrong. Many performed their duties well and acted accordingly, but everyone was punished – but not physically.

Watching Xu Jiaqi suffer was enough to warn them. Her screams would forever linger in their ears, reminding them not to harm the Crown Princess. Even a scratch from paper could cause them to bleed.

"I didn't mean to doubt the Queen..." Li Xueyue's voice faded away after returning to her comfortable bedroom.

She walked to the bookshelf and took out the wrapped handkerchief. After the soup dried, the handkerchief became a little stiff, but the smell was still pungent.

"Yesterday I was too suspicious and didn't drink her soup. But who knew, I would be attacked by something again..." Li Xueyue handed him the wrapped handkerchief, with the ingredients inside still neatly wrapped.

"Let me see." Yu Zhen reached out and placed the gadget in his palm. He placed the gadget on the table and untied it. A strong herbal aroma filled his nose.

Yu Zhen picked up each one and brought it to his nose. He sniffed each ingredient, searching for a distinct scent. If it was poisonous, he'd know it; he'd encountered plenty before.

"After the queen became pregnant with her first son, she suffered several miscarriages," Yuzhen said.

Li Xueyue nodded. She had expected this...especially after the conversation between the Emperor and the Empress. The atmosphere was tense, and she had to read between the lines.

Li Xueyue found it very strange that Yuzhen rarely addressed his family members as "father", "mother", "brother", "sister", etc. He always addressed them as emperor, empress, eldest prince, etc.

Thinking back to their childhood, Li Xueyue didn't blame him. Sometimes, it was better to call them in a less intimate way.

"She should be smart and not poison your food." Yu Zhen wrapped the handkerchief.

These herbs seemed to be very effective. However, to be on the safe side, he decided to consult the new imperial physician.

This morning, Yu Zhen fired the previous imperial physician. The old doctor was old and useless. He had a lot of experience, but he was also forgetful. Yu Zhen had no use for such an incompetent person.

He mercifully let the doctor go without any punishment, but his severance pay was reduced, and he would not receive any bonus for not fulfilling his duties.

"If there's one thing I'm sure of," Yu Zhen said, "it's that she wouldn't initiate an abortion."

Li Xueyue nodded obediently. When he stuffed the handkerchief and its contents into his pocket, she was a little confused.

"Still, it's better to be cautious than sorry. I'll place more spies around her," Yu Zhen said. "I'll also arrange for an inspector to test your food for poison right in front of you, so you can rest assured."

Li Xueyue had heard that servants would check food for poison before serving it to their masters. If she remembered correctly, this was a common practice in the palace, but only for the emperor and empress.

"I should have done this sooner," he sighed.

Yu Zhen almost forgot how paranoid she was. Seeing the food being inspected in front of her, she felt much more at ease.

Li Xueyue put her hand on his and took a step closer to him. His eyes widened slightly and then returned to normal.

"What is wrong, my princess?" he asked in a low voice, placing a hand on her lower back.

Li Xueyue hesitated for a moment. This was a sensitive topic. He knew everything about her, but she knew very little about him.

Li Xueyue placed one hand on his chest and the other around his waist, looking up at him with curiosity in her tired eyes.

"Well, this doesn't happen every day, Yangguang." Yu Zhen teased. He leaned over and kissed her gently on the forehead. She was just below his chin, and he wanted to resist.

Li Xueyue's heart trembled. This kind of thing has happened many times, but she still can't let it go.

There was no need to ask why, she wasn't in the mood to ask, and he didn't care.

"Can you tell me?" she asked suddenly.

"about?"

"Your childhood."
