Chapter 486: Shadow Knight

When Khonsu is haunted by apocalyptic visions controlled by an army of the demon Mephisto and his pan-dimensional alternate selves, Mark becomes subject to these dire premonitions.

Confronted by Khonsu, Moon Knight discovered that his master was as much a victim as himself. With the help of Khonsu's cult, Moon Knight embarked on a mission to absorb the powers of the modern counterparts of the Avengers of the Stone Age into a mystical anklet in preparation for the defense of Earth.

His victims were Danny Rand, Doctor Strange, Robbie Reyes, and Thor.

After Moon Knight kills Mephisto and transfers his new powers to Konsu, Konsu takes over Manhattan, renaming it New Thebes and using it as a launching pad for global conquest, with the Avengers on the run for harboring one of Konsu's targets, newborn Brandy Selby.

As Khonsu began to succumb to madness and paranoia, Moon Knight was encouraged by Nick Fury during a trip to the moon to seek a different power. During a battle with Black Panther, Spector took a physical beating as a sign of devotion while praying to the Phoenix Force.

Moon Knight became the host of the Phoenix Force and used its power to attack Konsu, leaving him defeated and stripped of his stolen powers by the Avengers. After the Phoenix Force tried to convince Mark to raze Earth to the ground, Mark began to reject the cosmic force and allowed Thor to strike him down, thus getting rid of the Phoenix.

As Manhattan recovered from Konsu's short-lived reign, the Avengers decided to keep Moon Knight from being killed, with Black Panther even offering him a spot on the team to help him avoid the prophesied future. Mark refused because the Avengers interfered with his attempts to stop Mephisto.

After rejecting Khonsu as a faith, Spector appropriated his former master's mission of protecting night travelers. After staying in Manhattan, he claimed a portion of the city as his territory and brutally protected anyone inside. He also formed a congregation called the Midnight Mission, opening its doors to anyone who needed him.

Three deaths

After chasing the new Black Phantom, Moon Knight and Hunter's Moon learned from Vibro's mind that Black Phantom was working with Sidney Sanak to transform Manhattan's underground into a giant resonator, which they intended to use to anger all citizens. After discovering Black Phantom's plan, Moon Knight and Midnight Mission broke into his base and engaged Black Phantom's forces, resulting in Moon Knight being injured alone.

While Midnight Mission was battling a host of villains, Moon Knight confronted someone he believed to be Black Phantom. After defeating Ryan Trent, Moon Knight encountered the real Black Phantom, who was shot and killed by his former ally Robert Plesco, leaving him to die.

Despite being close to death, Moon Knight musters all of his remaining strength and walks towards the broadcasting station, intending to blow it up. Before detonating it, Moon Knight recites the sutra. He then sacrifices himself to destroy the blast, thwarting Plesco's evil plan and saving Manhattan.

Three Resurrections

Weeks passed until Hunter's Moon and Tigra began to implement their plan to resurrect Spector. During the Varnae takeover of Earth, they asked Clea to send them to Asgard, where Khonsu was imprisoned, hoping to get his aid in the battle.

With the help of Dirk Garthwaite, they free Khonsu from imprisonment, and in God's freedom, Tigress patiently awaits Spector's resurrection, fearing that he will become a walking corpse. But Khonsu assures her that he will not fail his son, and soon Spector and Tigress are reunited, kissing her passionately. They then each lead a team of warriors to fight against the vampire army.

Shadow Knight, also known as Hatchet-Man/Jackal Knight, whose real name is Randall "Rand" Spector, is the younger brother of Moon Knight Marc Spector and one of his many enemies.

Randall "Rand" Spector was the son of Rabbi Elias Spector from Chicago, Illinois. He and his older brother, Marc Spector, were close as children, but Rand resented Marc because he was superior to him in every game, while Marc protected his brother from anti-Semitic bullies at school.

When they grew up, both joined the US Army and later became mercenaries. In addition to various missions in the CIA, the two brothers carried out missions side by side. During a gun mission in Italy, Rand was about to betray his opponents.

He killed Lisa Maloney, a woman who had been involved with Mark and who had told him about his brother's betrayal before she died. He hunted Rand for two days and two nights, finally throwing a grenade at Mark that nearly killed him.

Moonlight Knight

Randall becomes insane, but after he recovers, he begins a spree of attacking nurses as a serial killer. He returns to Egypt for work and another assignment, working for a group of rebels on the border with Sudan, unaware that his brother Mark is with the mercenaries led by Raul Bushman, who shoots him and kills him in revenge against Mark and Bushman.

He trapped his troops in the tomb of Pharaoh Seti after Rand's forces battled his brother and his troops were left for dead. When he arrived, Mark had been killed and was then resurrected by Khonsu as the god-incarnate vengeful Moon Knight.
