My Little Pony: Another World Adventure
Chapter 65: Vipers, Bats, Beetles, and Gray Wolves
Wilbur swept away the bushes that blocked the road, and regardless of the bloody scratches on his feet caused by the gravel, he led a group of travelers who longed for freedom and ran for their lives in the dark forbidden forest filled with purple-black spores of the Mad Dragon virus.
He felt like Andy in The Shawshank Redemption, the only difference being that he didn't have to go through the sewer pipe full of Lao Ba's delicacies. The path to redemption was there.
He couldn't help but think of a wilderness survival expert who wore no clothes or even hair. Before the time travel, he had scoffed at this kind of performance art-like program, but now he wished that his system was "the most powerful wilderness survival live broadcast system in history."
At least I can make my feet feel more comfortable...
"Stop... stop..." The owner of the rotten joke system chased after Wilbur out of breath, reached out and grabbed the shoulders of the reformist chairman, breathing heavily like Rick 5 had taken too much.
Whether before or after the crossing, these people had no experience running naked in the wild forest. It was easy to make the decision to escape, but when the sharp grass leaves and rugged tree roots really hurt their skin and ankles, they suddenly found that serving hard labor under the Red Lion was not so uncomfortable.
After all, Wilbur is a soul master in his twenties with two soul rings. His physical strength is slightly stronger than these guys who have been screwed by the crappy system (?).
He looked back helplessly at the fleeing team that had already formed a long line, and urged: "My fellow officers, you don't want the Red Lion to capture you and make you work hard, do you?"
"Listen to me, thank you~ Because of you~ I have warmed up the four of us - No, no!" The King of Bad Memes waved his hands repeatedly, stopping the urge to play memes, "Lao Wei, do you remember how many of us escaped?"
"Need I say more? There are nine of us in total, including me..." Wilbur muttered and stopped talking. He stared in amazement at the travelers who gradually gathered around him, counting them over and over again with his fingers.
Not only did no one fall behind, but there was even one more person!
Wilbur couldn't help but shudder, goose bumps all over his body, and whispered to the Bad King: "After we entered the Forbidden Forest, did anyone join us?"
“No, Boss…” The King of Bad Memes was shaking even more than Wilbur, “I was always running at the back, and no one caught up with me… I just looked up and suddenly realized that the number of people didn’t match, so…”
Something got in!
This thought exploded in Wilbur's mind like a bomb. A layer of cold sweat oozed out of his skin. He shouted to the bruised and breathless fugitives, "Look around to see if there is anyone you don't know!"
Everyone looked at him blankly, turning their heads to check on their brothers and sisters who had escaped with them. Every face looked so familiar, all of them were pale and covered in sweat, and there was nothing unusual at all.
"Do you know each other?" Wilbur was shocked to see the travelers nodding in unison. He felt as if his heart had turned into a lead block and sank into his stomach. "Please confirm again, and be sure to be careful--"
"Look! Behind you!" A female time traveler screamed and raised her hand, pointing behind Wilbur.
The air in the forbidden forest suddenly changed. A foul wind mixed with the unique smell of cold-blooded animals howled. The muddy humus on the ground rolled like waves. The loud noise of falling trees shook the earth, mixed with the low throat roars unique to giant creatures.
Wilbur's face was frozen by the fearful expressions of the people in front of him, and the foul smell coming from behind him almost froze his blood. He turned his body inch by inch with difficulty, and faced an eyeless dragon head covered with dark black scales.
The culprit of the Mad Dragon Virus, the initiator of the Battle of Hogwarts - the Black Dragon!
"Hello." As soon as the words came out, Wilbur wanted to slap himself in the face, "You are not here to kill us, are you?"
The Black Dragon was completely unmoved. Its sharp claws silently dug through the soil. Its head, almost as tall as Wilbur's body, stretched forward in silence. The two slit-like nostrils under its scales opened and closed slightly, as if it was looking for something.
Wilbur suddenly had an idea. "You see, the Red Lion is your enemy, and our enemy as well." He moved cautiously, trying to avoid the Black Dragon's oppressive head. "We can cooperate. You just need to--"
The black dragon suddenly stood up, completely relying on its two hind legs and tail to stand, and its wings like a dark cloak suddenly spread out, frightening Wilbur so much that he swallowed the rest of his words. It looked down at the travelers with full majesty, opening its ferocious mouth that emitted a faint purple light.
There was a roar, and the air even spread out visible ripples. The warm snow accumulated on the trees of the forbidden forest fell down. The traversers only felt their ears blocked, and their internal organs trembled in this terrible howl. Their eyes went black and they were completely unable to maintain their balance. They all collapsed to the ground!
Wilbur covered his aching ears in vain, and a warm liquid flowed out of his ear holes. He subconsciously wanted to summon his martial spirit to launch a wave of "kill rather than humiliate" attacks.
But at this moment, he heard... or more precisely, felt a lazy voice coming from his colleagues behind him.
"Stop yelling."
A figure walked past Wilbur, and he felt extremely familiar with the naked back, as if he had known this person since birth. But when he thought about it carefully, he could not remember any details about this person, as if a piece of his memory had been dug out.
The only thing that could be seen clearly was the man's scalp, which was reflecting the light and was dazzling.
The man stood between the black dragon and Wilbur, with his hands on his hips, like a teacher intervening in a fight between kindergarten children. He or she or it looked up at the eyeless head of the black dragon and said casually, "If you have anything to say, say it now."
----
"Protector of Gotham City, have you ever seen the true face of evil?"
In the dim mansion, beside a long table covered with a white tablecloth, Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, was forced to sit obediently in front of the neatly laid out cutlery.
Across the long table was his loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth. The capable old man was nailed to a valuable Huanghuali armchair by iron nails. That was the price Batman paid after trying to resist the pale god behind him.
A bony hand reached out from Batman's shoulder, holding a white porcelain plate as cold and colorless as its own skin. On the plate was no delicacy, only a green-haired head with a deformed grin on it.
Warm blood oozed out from the broken neck, and Batman's pupils contracted slightly.
The Joker, his old enemy, just died like that!
"Is it a sin for a poor woman to sell her body to feed her children? Is it a sin for an unemployed man to rob a store to make a living? Is it a sin for a homeless child to become a pickpocket or thief? No..."
The pale god, whose body was as thin as a corpse, slowly walked to the side of Bruce Wayne, bent his chest with protruding ribs, and stared calmly at Batman's expressionless face with his pure black eyes, like an ominous creature waiting to devour his rotten flesh.
"In order to survive, humans have to do things that go against the law. The real crime is to satisfy desires beyond survival. Robbers are not necessarily poor, murderers are not necessarily wronged, and swindlers are not necessarily in trouble... People who commit real crimes have no right to continue to exist."
"Even so, you can't kill anyone." Batman said, his eyes fixed on the Joker's bloodshot eyes that were not completely closed on the plate. The head was pulled out of the neck alive.
The Pale God smiled, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth. His sunken cheeks made the smile look even more terrifying. "Wayne, you spent tens of millions of dollars to build a special prison just to lock up these criminals. They escaped from prison time and time again, causing harm to innocent citizens of Gotham City time and time again. Are you a protector of the citizens or the criminals? Or do you deliberately let the criminals run rampant to satisfy your ridiculous vanity?"
"I—" Batman tried to retort, but the Pale God cut him off.
"You locked up the Joker and other perverts without any punishment or spiritual transformation. It's like a collector admiring his own collection, looking at the snowflake castle in the glass ball and feeling smug. Your wealth comes from the masses of Gotham City, but you don't care how seriously your industry exploits the workers and laborers. It's sad... sad...
"Wayne, use your little brain and think carefully. How many of these criminals were born because of the Wayne Group? Do you think you are a volunteer policeman and a protector of the masses? But you don't realize that you and your Wayne chaebol are the rotten gangrene that should be wiped out of Gotham City the most?"
Batman remained silent. The White God's temptation could not shake his will at all. He not only firmly believed that he was right, but also...
That big alien guy is about to arrive.
The Pale God sighed softly, straightened his body which was much larger than that of an ordinary person, twisted his waist at ghostly speed, and his fist wrapped in a dark blue tights fell into the empty space, lying across his chest in vain!
The Kryptonian with a big "S" symbol on his chest was stunned. Before he could continue to attack the skinny giant who stole his cape, the opponent's claw-like fingers had already pinched Batman's neck wrapped in thick Kevlar fiber.
"Good evening, Clark Kent. I don't like the name 'Superman', so I'll just call you Kent." The Pale God said with a pleasant face, pulling out a chair for the newly arrived guest. "Sit down. I want to talk to you, too."
Seeing the hostage in hand, Superman showed a dangerous look, but the pale giant's prophetic actions made him unsure of rescuing Batman. He glanced at Alfred, who was nailed to the armchair with nails piercing his shoulders, and after confirming that his life was not in danger, he said seriously: "Let Alfred leave first, he shouldn't be involved in this dispute."
"of course."
The Pale God sat down in Alfred's seat without any warning, and the elderly butler stood beside him with a confused look on his face. If it weren't for the two bloody holes on his well-fitting tuxedo, it would have seemed as if he had been standing there from the beginning.
Superman and Batman exchanged glances obliquely, both looking unhappy. They didn't even notice when this mysterious man took action.
"Alright, Wayne and Kent." The Pale God twisted his body, trying to find a comfortable position on the armchair that was too small for him. "My name is Conrad Curz, you can also call me Midnight Haunter. Let's talk about how to build a Gotham City without any crime."
----
"...According to the basic principles of numerology, your Mr. Right has a middle-parted hairstyle, just joined the Raccoon City Police Department today, has a last name that makes people think about things, and is coming to marry you in a vehicle that is destined to explode."
On the secret underground train leading to the Umbrella Corporation, Mortarion looked at the lines on the palm of Ada Wong's right hand and said with confidence.
He is over three meters tall, with a military coat stripped from the T-103 Tyrant wrapped around his waist, a Tyrant's bowler hat on his bald head, and a large sickle looted from the farm tool store in Raccoon City leaning against him. His temperament is somewhere between an old farmer and an exhibitionist.
Looking at the simple smile on Mortarion's face, Ada Wang rolled her eyes. She almost said that her future husband would be the young policeman next to her - Leon Kennedy.
