Chapter 3 Searching for Meng Yi

Fang Muye knew the situation Meng Yi would face, so he was not worried. He looked up at the Tuan rebels opposite him, and then looked at the Qin soldiers behind him who were full of fighting spirit. He knew that as the highest general of the Qin army, he should do something, so he waved his sword at the Tuan rebels and said, "Shoot!"

Fang Muye gave an order, and suddenly thousands of strings sounded, and sharp arrows flew out, streaking across the sky, and shot towards the Tuan rebels. The arrows, with great force, pierced through the chests of the Tuan rebels and nailed them to the ground.

After this round of arrow shooting, more than half of the Tuan rebels were killed or wounded. Fang Muye swung his sword again and said, "Kill the enemies!" But he did not move at all.

Fang Muye knew his own weight, so he didn't do the brave thing of charging into battle. Behind him, the generals led the Qin soldiers to fight. The army marched in neat steps, rumbling like thunder, and swept up billowing smoke and dust, like a torrent, pushing towards the Tuan rebels.

There were only a few hundred Tuan rebels, while the Qin army was several times larger than the other side. Moreover, the Qin soldiers were fierce and valiant. As soon as the two sides came into contact, a one-sided situation emerged. It was more like a massacre than a battle.

In just one stick of incense, the Tuan rebels were almost completely wiped out, with corpses and blood everywhere. Only a few dozen cavalrymen threw away their armor and fled in panic, but the elite cavalry of the Qin Dynasty went to pursue them.

The power of the Qin Dynasty cannot be offended!

If you commit a crime, you must be killed! How can we let the enemy live under the attack of the Qin army?

Fang Muye encountered a large army fighting for the first time in his life. The tragic scene and the bloody smell in the air made him very uncomfortable, but he could only endure it. Fang Muye adjusted his mentality, gathered the army, ordered them to wait for orders, and led the guards of the headquarters composed of all the soldiers of the Meng family, and headed in the direction where Meng Yi had left before.

There were dozens of corpses scattered along the way, most of them were soldiers from the Tuan Kingdom, and only two were soldiers from the Meng family. Fang Muye ordered his men to collect them and cremate them later and bring them back.

After walking about five miles, they met the Meng family soldiers who had left with Meng Yi. They were exploring the edge of a cliff, seemingly looking for a way down. Fang Muye looked at the ground and saw some traces of fighting and broken wood. He guessed that this should be the place where Meng Yi and Yu Shu fell.

Sure enough, a soldier from the Meng family stepped forward to report: "General, we came here to escort General Meng, but were blocked by the enemy. When we wiped out the enemy and arrived here, General Meng and Concubine Li happened to fall off the cliff along with the carriage. We failed to protect General Meng and Concubine Li, and we are willing to accept the punishment!" After that, he dismounted from the horse together with the other soldiers from the Meng family who had arrived earlier to escort Meng Yi, knelt on one knee, and bowed his head to accept the punishment.

Fang Muye knew that Meng Yi and Yu Shu were safe and sound, but because of the few days of sharing life and death, they fell in love with each other. Thus began a tragic love story that lasted for more than two thousand years.

But even though he knew, he would not say it out loud. Fang Muye's face was solemn, and he said in a deep voice: "We will talk about the punishment later. The most urgent thing is to find General Meng and Concubine Li at the bottom of the cliff. I see that there is a river at the bottom of the cliff. General Meng and Concubine Li fell into it and were saved. They may not be in danger of death. You search along the river downstream. If you can find General Meng and Concubine Li, it will be considered that you have made up for your mistakes, and the punishment can be dropped."

After a moment of silence and contemplation, Fang Muye said to a nearby soldier, "Go and pass the message. The army will enter the pass first, and then send the soldiers to the pass. If there is any news about General Meng, please inform me immediately. Everyone else, follow me to find General Meng and Concubine Li."

This was because Fang Muye thought that if he couldn't find Meng Yi and Yu Shu, he would have a hard time explaining himself when he returned, and he was afraid that he would be punished by Qin Shihuang. Moreover, he was unfamiliar with the place and without Meng Yi as his "immediate superior", he would not know how to deal with anything if something happened. That was why he chose to stay and look for Meng Yi and Yu Shu.

In addition, considering the plot of the movie, Meng Yi and Yu Shu might return before he finds them, so Fang Muye would arrange for his soldiers to wait at the city gate.

The soldier immediately took the order and went to pass the message, and another team of Meng's soldiers went with them to the army to get the supplies needed by the army. After everything was ready, how to get down to the bottom of the cliff more than 100 meters deep with both men and horses became the first difficulty faced in the search work.

After Fang Muye sent two teams of Meng family soldiers to explore forward and backward, he led them to march forward for dozens of miles and finally got down to the bottom of the cliff. It took a long time to cross the river. After all the trouble, it was already late and the light was not good for searching. Moreover, the Meng family soldiers had been fighting all day and were tired, so Fang Muye ordered them to set up camp for dining and rest overnight.

Even though Fang Muye had a hobby of fitness and had persisted for several years, his physical fitness was very good, but after wearing heavy armor and riding on horseback for a day, he was still exhausted. He fell asleep immediately after eating, and slept soundly that night.

Because the direction of the river was opposite to the direction of yesterday's march down the cliff, the team turned back on the second day. When they reached the point where Meng Yi and Yu Shu fell off the cliff, Fang Muye deployed his troops horizontally, went down along the river, and launched a carpet search.

After searching for about five miles, they found seven bodies of Tu'an soldiers in a valley, as well as traces of burnt firewood, but there was still no sign of Meng Yi and Yu Shu. Fortunately, it was certain that Meng Yi and Yu Shu were still alive. This discovery finally put all the Meng family soldiers at ease. Fang Muye could see it from the changes in their facial expressions.

Fang Muye knew that Meng Yi was the faith of the Meng family's soldiers and the soul of the Meng family army. As long as Meng Yi was alive, their souls were there. In this regard, Fang Muye really had to admire Meng Yi.

As a general, if this is the case, what more could you ask for!

After continuing to search along the river for more than ten miles, the search work encountered the second difficulty. There were mountains ahead and cliffs on both sides of the river. Searching along the river was not feasible, and looking for Meng Yi and Yu Shu in the mountains would undoubtedly be difficult.

It's actually quite good. It gives Meng Yi and Yu Shu enough time to spend together and develop their relationship, Fang Muye thought secretly.

Because it was difficult for horses to travel over mountains and hills, a dozen Meng family soldiers were left behind to look after the horses. Fang Muye led the other soldiers into the mountains to search. After a day of searching without success, when it was getting dark, Fang Muye led the Meng family army to find a place with water in the mountains to rest.

That night, Fang Muye was awakened by the cold. When he woke up and saw the snowflakes falling, he sighed in his heart: It was this snow that allowed Meng Yi and Yu Shu to have physical contact.

Yu Shu dares to love and hate, is willing to risk her life for love and give up everything. Unfortunately, Meng Yi's character determines that he will never betray his loyalty to Qin Shihuang and the Meng family. He takes Yu Shu away from everything and lives in seclusion in the mountains. He will not express his feelings to Yu Shu, but will only protect her silently.

After searching in the mountains for a few more days, Fang Muye and the Meng family soldiers finally found Meng Yi and Yu Su on a hilltop. They then gathered all the Meng family troops and escorted Concubine Li and the injured Meng Yi back to Xianyang.

On the way, Fang Muye paid careful attention and found that the look in Yu Shu's eyes when she looked at Meng Yi was as affectionate as a pool of spring water, and when Meng Yi looked at Yu Shu, his eyes were also full of complexity.

Being in love but unable to be together may be the fate that the two of them cannot escape.
