Travel through the heavens

Chapter 2: Meeting the Bride and Enemy

At daybreak on the second day, Fang Muye selected a dozen of his own light cavalry guards to go out of the camp first and head to the border of Daqin to search for the traces of Tu'anguo's wedding entourage.

Fortunately, Fang Muye is from Inner Mongolia and grew up on horseback. Otherwise, it would be hard to explain why "General Nangong Yan" couldn't ride a horse.

After riding for nearly half an hour, Fang Muye and his companions finally arrived at the border. Fang Muye looked around and saw a high mound nearby, so he led the crowd to climb up.

Sitting on a tall horse, Fang Muye looked into the distance. Between heaven and earth, there was a vast expanse of loess and crisscrossing gullies. One could not help but sigh at the vastness of the world and the insignificance of living beings.

After waiting for about an hour, he saw a long team coming slowly from the direction of Tuan Kingdom in the distance. When it got closer, Fang Muye confirmed that it was the Tuan Kingdom's wedding party.

"You wait here and I will return to report to the general. Go!" Fang Muye ordered the Meng family soldiers who were accompanying him, and then rode away.

After riding for more than ten miles, they met the slowly approaching wedding procession led by Meng Yi. When Fang Muye came to Meng Yi, he pointed to the back and said, "General, the princess's troops have entered the territory of our Great Qin."

Meng Yi raised his hand and ordered: "Prepare to welcome the emperor!"

"Prepare to welcome the emperor!"

"Prepare to welcome the emperor!"

Two messengers rode out on horseback, relaying Meng Yi's orders from the front to the back of the welcoming group. The cavalry whipped their horses, the carriages began to speed up, and the infantry also ran, and under the leadership of Meng Yi, they quickly marched to the border.

When they arrived at the border, Meng Yi gave an order and the welcoming group lined up and waited in silence. Not long after, the Tuanguo escort group slowly walked to a depression a hundred steps away from the front of the formation. The leading general raised his hand to signal the group to stop.

Meng Yi said in a loud voice: "The Great Qin Shi Huangdi, the Imperial General Meng Yi, is here to welcome you!"

The general of the Tuan Kingdom's escort team clasped his fists to Meng Yi and said loudly, "Please come in, Princess!"

"Princess please!"

As the herald shouted, a luxurious carriage slowly drove out from the middle of the team, followed by several palace maids and several carriages filled with dowry.

The Qin civil officials who were waiting in front of Tuanguo's team waited for Princess Yushu's carriage to stop in front of them, then raised the imperial edict and said, "The Emperor Qin Shi Huang's edict!"

Upon hearing this, the two Qin soldiers following behind him and the Tu'an soldier in front of him immediately knelt on one knee and bowed their heads to receive the order. Princess Yu Shu's carriage also opened the door, revealing her appearance.

Due to the wrong angle, Princess Yu Shu was blocked by the carriage, and Fang Muye did not see her appearance, but he guessed that she should be the same as Jin Xishan.

"Appoint Princess Yushu as the beautiful consort of the Qin State to promote good relations between the states and ensure eternal harmony. Princess Yushu, accept the order!" the Qin State civil official announced. When he saw Princess Yushu stand up to receive the order, he closed the imperial edict and handed it to General Tu'an.

Fang Muye's heartstrings tensed, and he muttered to himself, "The fight is about to begin."

Turning his head to look at the high place on the left, he saw an army that had appeared there at some point, exuding a spirit of bravery. The leading general was drawing his bow and drawing his arrow, and then he saw the arrow flying through the air.

The general of Tunan Kingdom stood in front of Princess Yu Shu's carriage, holding up the imperial edict to hand it to Yu Shu. As a result, the arrow pierced through the imperial edict and went into his chest. The general let out a cry and fell to the ground.

Seeing General Tuanguo die before her eyes, Princess Yu Shu suddenly turned pale and panicked, and subconsciously looked at Meng Yi.

Tuan was a small country that was defeated by the Qin army and faced the danger of national destruction. It had to send Princess Yushu to marry the Qin army in order to survive. Today, welcoming and sending Princess Yushu here was something that the two parties had already agreed upon.

Meng Yi originally thought that welcoming the bride was just a tiring task, but he did not expect something unexpected to happen at this critical moment. Looking in the direction from which the arrow came, he discovered the enemy troops on high ground and the general who shot the arrow. Judging from the style of their armor, they were actually Tu'an Guo's men.

At the signal from General Tuanguo, the deputy general beside him shouted at Meng Yi: "I am following the order of our king to bring Princess Yushu back! Anyone who dares to stop me will be killed without mercy!"

Fang Muye was familiar with the plot of the movie. He knew that the opposing general was General Cui, the great general of Tu'an State, who had already been engaged to Princess Yu Shu. He could not tolerate Princess Yu Shu marrying the old man Qin Shi Huang, and he was even more unwilling to see the Lord of Tu'an State depend on the Qin Dynasty for its country and sovereignty. That was why he secretly sent troops to falsely convey the king's intention and tried to bring Yu Shu back.

Meng Yi didn't know the reason, but now that the Emperor's edict had been read, Yu Shu had changed from Princess Tu'anguo to the Great Qin's Consort. If she was taken away, it would be an insult to the Emperor and the Great Qin. How could Meng Yi allow it? He showed his anger and shouted: "The princess has become the Great Qin's Consort. Anyone who dares to be presumptuous is the enemy of the Great Qin!"

General Cui heard this, his face gloomy, and said to the deputy general beside him: "It seems that they are not willing to accept our toast, so prepare to attack!"

The two lieutenants beside him drew their swords, raised them high, and shouted at the same time: "Prepare to attack!"

Upon hearing the order, the soldiers of Tuan State, who had already drawn their arrows, lit their arrows, faced the Qin army, and raised them diagonally towards the sky.

"Prepare for battle!" Meng Yi heard the opponent's deputy general shouting "Prepare for attack" and immediately gave the order to Muye.

Fang Muye raised his arms and shouted, "Prepare for battle!"

At the command, the Qin army raised their shields and spears in unison, their brave fighting spirit soared to the sky, and the Qin army's might was fully demonstrated.

Deputy General Tuanguo raised his sword and stepped forward. The enemy fired rockets in a parabola and fell towards the Qin camp, but they were blocked by the shields with a "ding-dang-dang" sound and did not cause any damage. Some arrows, due to lack of power, fell into Tuanguo's wedding troupe or on the hillside.

The Tuan State's wedding entourage, which was shot by the arrows, was in chaos. The unlucky ones were shot and fell to the ground, while the lucky ones were in panic and fled everywhere, with cries and screams one after another.

There were also Tuan'an soldiers who dropped many huge rolling balls from great heights. As they rolled down the slope, they touched the still-burning rockets stuck in the ground, and they immediately ignited with flames, turning into fireballs and rolling downwards.

Meng Yi noticed that the direction the fireball was rolling was exactly where Tuan'an State's wedding party was, and Princess Yu Shu's carriage was among them. He hurriedly pulled the reins and rode Heifeng towards Princess Yu Shu.

The fireball rushed down with great power, knocking over all the Tuan people and carriages it encountered. The raging fire it brought instantly ignited the people and objects it hit. The Tuan people, covered in flames, wailed and rolled on the ground. The miserable scene was like a flaming hell.

Just as a huge fireball was about to hit Princess Yu Shu's carriage, Meng Yi arrived in time, sat on his Black Wind Divine Horse, raised his hooves, and kicked the fireball away with a flying kick, which passed by the rear of Princess Yu Shu's carriage.

"Leave here quickly." Meng Yi shouted to the Tuan soldiers who were still guarding Princess Yu Shu's carriage.

"Gee! Gee! Gee!" Tuan's soldiers immediately urged their horses and drove the carriages to escape into the distance. Meng Yi followed closely on his horse. Because the horses' strength was weaker than Heifeng's, dozens of Meng family soldiers who had just arrived also followed immediately to guard behind them.

General Cui, who had been keeping an eye on this place, saw this and immediately led dozens of Tuan cavalrymen, rode down the high slope and chased after Princess Yu Shu and Meng Yi.
