At this point, the Japanese fleet's counterattack at Wuhu was already very weak.

One of the naval battalions of the First Army began bombarding Japanese artillery and infantry in Dangtu County.

The Japanese artillery in Dangtu County dared not retreat, otherwise the devilish troops would land at Caishiji Wharf.

They had no choice but to risk attacks from Golden Eagle drones and bombard the Devil Force naval vessels.

By this time, the First Naval Fleet had completely taken control of the Japanese fleet at Wuhu. Some First Naval vessels began boarding the unsunken Japanese warships.

Parts of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd battalions of the 4th Regiment, which arrived with the naval fleet of the 1st Army, also landed one after another and advanced into the interior of Dangtu County.

The soldiers of the Fourth Regiment quickly consolidated their position at Caishiji Wharf and continued to advance deeper into the territory.

Upon receiving orders from Commander Kumagai, the Japanese commander in Dangtu County immediately dispatched a contingent of Japanese and puppet troops to provide support.

The soldiers of the 4th Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Regiment, who were in charge of the vanguard, quickly engaged in battle with the Japanese and puppet troops from Dangtu County who had come to reinforce them.

Japanese and puppet troops in Dangtu County resisted the attack of the Fourth Company by building along the Ningwu Railway line.

The follow-up troops of the Third Battalion also arrived at the Ningwu Railway Line one after another. The First and Second Companies crawled forward along the railway line and launched an attack on the Japanese and puppet troops.

The Third Company, in coordination with the Fourth Company, launched an attack on the Japanese and puppet troops along the railway station and roadbed.

Just then, a train entered Dangtu County. It did not stop and continued its journey.

Using the train as cover, the soldiers quickly broke through the Japanese defense line, circled around to the rear of the Japanese troops on the Yuwu Railway in Dangtu County, and fiercely fired and threw grenades at the Japanese and puppet troops in Dangtu County from behind.

The Japanese and puppet troops resisted for a while, but could not withstand the pincer attack from the three battalions of soldiers, and finally retreated.

The soldiers of the Third Battalion continued their advance into the interior of Dangtu County. On a hillside, they clashed again with the Japanese and puppet troops.

The Japanese troops lay prone on the hillside, using the existing trees and rocks to stubbornly resist the attack of the Third Battalion.

The Japanese and puppet troops retreating along the Ningwu Railway line also joined forces with the Japanese and puppet troops on the hillside to block the attack of the Third Battalion.

Due to a lack of support from heavy weapons such as artillery, the Third Battalion was pinned down on the hillside by the Japanese and puppet troops.

The battalion commander ordered the third and fourth companies to attack the Japanese positions on the hillside from both flanks. However, they also encountered fierce resistance from the Japanese and puppet troops.

The 1st Battalion of the 4th Regiment continued its attack along the Caishiji Wharf line.

The 2nd Battalion of the 4th Regiment advanced towards Dangtu County via another route and soon arrived at the Daqingshan Pass in Dangtu County.

Daqingshan Mountain, located in Dangtu County, is a strategically important location with numerous hills and ridges. It is a vital passage between Nanjing and Xuancheng, controlling a key point for combined water and land transportation. It is also an important strategic location on the route from Caishiji Wharf to Dangtu County.

The Japanese army had originally deployed defensive positions at the Daqingshan Pass to prevent the Nanjing government army and the New Fourth Army from advancing from Caishiji to Dangtu County.

Upon receiving the telegram requesting reinforcements from the Japanese troops at Caishiji, the Japanese commander in Dangtu County immediately dispatched reinforcements to the Daqingshan Pass.
