Devil's Army

Chapter 1655: Detour into Anshan City

On the west route of the Second Regiment (along the Taizi River), Liuerbao Town is close to the Taizi River. The town is densely covered with water networks, surrounded by many farmlands and swamps, and has villages and houses as support.

If the Japanese army used river branches, dams and villages to ambush or block the enemy, it would be difficult for the 2nd Regiment's advance battalion to pass through. However, the 2nd Regiment's advance battalion caught the Japanese army off guard and suddenly recaptured Liuerbao Town.

Afterwards, the battalion commander left a troop to meet the follow-up troops of the Second Regiment, and he led the large force of the advance battalion to continue heading towards Anshan City.

The advance camp soon arrived at Tangmazhai Town.

Tangmazhai Town is located on the south bank of Taizi River. The terrain is slightly higher than the surrounding area. The surrounding area is mostly low-lying farmland, forming a natural barrier.

The Japanese army, having received the intelligence, built defensive fortifications based on the village walls and houses, which also made it easier to observe surrounding movements and made it easier to defend than to attack.

The advance battalion, lacking heavy weapons, was unable to do anything about Tangmazhai Town for a while.

The Fengtian Air Force arrived later and launched a fierce bombing on the defensive fortifications of Tangmazhai Town.

After the air force destroyed the fortifications of Tangmazhai Town, the advance battalion split into two groups and launched a fierce attack on Tangmazhai Town, capturing it in one fell swoop.

The advance battalion of the Second Regiment captured Tangmazhai Town, leaving troops to garrison there, while the main force turned southeast and continued to advance towards Anshan City.

Along the way, they eliminated small groups of Japanese and puppet troops' resistance and successfully entered the southwest of Anshan City.

And they built a defense line there, settled down, and waited for the arrival of subsequent large troops.

When the vanguard of the Third Regiment's eastern route (west side of Qianshan Mountains) arrived at Xiadahe Township, it was located on the west side of Qianshan Mountains and was a hilly mountainous area. There were many mountains, forests and canyons around the township, and the roads were rugged and narrow.

The Japanese army used the mountainous terrain to build fortifications and stored supplies in caves to block the advance of the Third Regiment.

This was a typical "mountain defense" node on the eastern route. If the vanguard of the Third Regiment, lacking heavy weaponry, attacked aggressively, casualties would undoubtedly be heavy.

However, the Third Regiment also quietly approached the Japanese fortifications from the dense forest and launched a surprise attack on them.

Before the Japanese army could fully react, they captured the Xiadahe Township position in one fell swoop.

The large army continued to advance and soon entered the territory of Dagushan Town.

Dagushan Town is located in the southeast of Anshan City, close to Qianshan Scenic Area. There are many hills and gullies in the town, and there are villages distributed in the valleys.

The terrain combining mountains and villages facilitates concealment and maneuvering. The Japanese army built bunkers along the road, connected to the camp behind.

Moreover, the Japanese army had set up defensive positions in valleys or passes, giving them a clear defensive advantage.

Moreover, the fall of Xiadahe Township had already alerted the Japanese troops in Dagushan Town, making it difficult for the vanguard of the Third Regiment to pass quickly.

Lacking heavy weapons, the commander of the Third Regiment had no choice but to notify the air force to destroy the Japanese defensive positions.

These Japanese fortifications were simple earthworks without reinforced concrete. They collapsed instantly under the bombing of high-yield aerial bombs by the air force.

After the air force bombing, the vanguard of the Third Regiment launched a battle with the Japanese army for every gully and mountain.

After half a day of fierce and brutal hand-to-hand combat, the vanguard of the Third Regiment captured the valleys, passes, road strongholds, and fortifications outside Dagushan. They then concentrated their forces to attack Dagushan Town.

The Japanese troops in Dagushan Town were unable to withstand the air and ground attacks of the Third Regiment and were finally defeated and retreated to Anshan City.

The vanguard of the Third Regiment also successfully entered the southeastern territory of Anshan City.
