Devil's Army

Chapter 139 Fulfilling the Mission

After driving for less than an hour, Wenlang's convoy entered the headquarters of the 7th Brigade.

When the deputy brigade commander of the 7th Brigade, He, saw Wen Lang coming again, he happily shook hands with him and invited Wen Lang to rest at the brigade headquarters. He also ordered the soldiers to immediately unload the five boxes of penicillin from the car and send them to the brigade's medical room. He also ordered the food that had been prepared to be loaded onto the car.

When they arrived at the Seventh Brigade's headquarters, it was the first time that Brigade Commander Wang saw the gentle and refined Wen Lang. He immediately came over to shake hands and said:

"Your army is really full of talents. You can even produce medicines that we have never heard of. I admire you so much."

"I am not a talented person, but I like reading books. One time, I saw an introduction about anti-inflammatory drugs in a foreign book, so I copied it and I didn't expect it to be successful."

"Captain Chen is really knowledgeable and talented, and he even knows foreign languages."

"Know a little bit."

The three men drank tea for a while, and then the soldier came over to report that five and a half carts of food and six barrels of gasoline had been loaded.

Wen Lang stood up to leave, and Brigade Commander Wang stood up to persuade him to stay, saying, "I'll prepare some wine and food, why don't you guys have dinner before leaving?"

"No, the distance they are taking to Commander Sun is relatively short, and they should be waiting at the agreed intersection by now. I have to hurry over to meet them."

"Then I won't try to keep you here. Come over and have a seat when you have time." Brigade Commander Wang nodded and said.

Wenlang thanked them and left with the convoy.

Wenlang led the convoy to the intersection where they parted ways with the Second Squadron, and sure enough, the Second Squadron was already waiting there.

The second squadron leader saw Wen Lang and his men coming over and happily greeted them and said:

"Brother Wenlang, Commander Sun also gave us five extra barrels of gasoline."

"Oh?"

"Since we had already used up all the gas when we arrived, one of our vehicles might not have enough gas to go back, so I asked Commander Sun for some gas. Unexpectedly, Commander Sun helped us fill up the gas tanks of all eight vehicles and gave us five extra barrels of gas, saying that he supported our fight against the Japanese."

"Hey, this tomb robber is quite generous." Wenlang replied with a smile.

"Huh? What tomb robbers?" asked the second squadron leader in confusion.

"Nothing, follow me, let's go back."

The convoy arrived at the first checkpoint where they faced the Northeast Army. The sentries had been replaced and were no longer the same group that had been there in the morning.

A Japanese captain ran over and took a quick look at Wen Lang's ID, then pointed at the food on the truck and asked:

"Major, what is this?"

"Oh, we just attacked a granary of the Northeast Army and brought back some food and gasoline."

"Major Nagasaki is truly brave!" The second lieutenant gave a thumbs-up and asked people to move the wooden horse that was blocking the car at the checkpoint.

Wenlang's convoy refueled and passed the checkpoint.

When he reached the second level, Wenlang received a lot of worthless praise and flattery.

At around two o'clock in the afternoon, Wenlang's convoy successfully arrived at the foot of the mountain outside the Oroqen tribal forest.

Wen Lang temporarily stopped the convoy and the second squadron here, and he went up to the operations room through the tunnel.

When they arrived at the operations room, Leng Feng and Huilang were gesturing at something on the sand table.

Leng Feng saw Wen Lang coming back and put down the small stick in his hand.

"Report to the captain, Wenlang has fulfilled his mission and brought the food back." Wenlang took a few steps forward, saluted and said.

"Come, Wenlang, have a drink of water first." Gray Wolf poured a glass of water and handed it to Wenlang.

Wen Lang took the water cup, blew on it, took a few sips, and then told Leng Feng and the others how one of the cars in the Second Squadron Captain's convoy ran out of gasoline and asked Commander Sun for gasoline.

After hearing this, Leng Feng smiled and said, "It seems that our car ran out of gas just in time."

"By the way, Captain, where are our 14 trucks of food stored? Are they still in the underground warehouse?" Wen Lang asked Leng Feng.

"Instead of putting up an underground warehouse, I dug another road next to the mountain tunnel and dug two large warehouses next to it. One for food and one for ammunition. This will make it convenient for us to resupply in the future."

"Oh, just now when I was going up the mountain, I saw a new tunnel dug nearby. It turned out to be used to store our food and ammunition."

"The workload isn't huge, so it should be almost finished. Gray Wolf, go take a look. By the way, ask Liu Yaohua to dispatch a squadron from the Sixth Brigade and replace Wen Lang's two squadrons with them so they can have a rest."

When Liu Yaohua from the Sixth Brigade heard what Gray Wolf said, he immediately led the First Squadron down there himself.

Looking at the fourteen trucks lined up in a long row, Captain Liu circled around the carriages of each truck, rubbing his hands non-stop. His eyes were like a beggar who had been hungry for a week and suddenly saw a banquet.

It's no wonder, they often went hungry when they were fighting guerrilla warfare outside, and they knew the feeling of hunger best. If you have food in your hands, you won't be worried.

Since there were few people in the first squadron led by Liu Yaohua who could drive, Wenlang's first and second squadrons kept all the drivers and withdrew the others.

At around five o'clock in the afternoon, the Gray Wolf warehouse passed the inspection and the soldiers were notified to drive all the cars from the foot of the mountain up.

After receiving the notice, fourteen trucks at the foot of the mountain, led by the soldier, drove one after another to the new warehouse in the tunnel.

Liu Yaohua followed with a squadron.

Since there was a lot of food, Liu Yaohua asked someone to call all the remaining people from the Sixth Brigade to come and move the food.

After a while, all the 14 trucks of food and gasoline were unloaded. The truck driver drove the truck to the open space in the tunnel inside the warehouse and went back to report to Wen Lang.

Liu Yaohua left a squadron of people to stand guard at the warehouse entrance and patrol the area.
